I got back into blading after my serious heart surgery in 2011. I had learned to skate (on figure skates) as a kid and then, much later, rented inline skates in the ‘90s “rollerblade” boom. Oh, there was the roller disco era of the 1970’s, but I’ll skip that. Anyway, I am completely self taught, which is a VERY slow way to learn, but since I started getting faster and stronger and developed a semblance of a real skating stroke I am now totally hooked and will probably seek out an instructor along the lines of Skatefresh Asha. I live in So Cal and I’m not rich, but willing to work hard. BTW, I am 64 years old and pretty easily outdistance almost everybody else on skates. Not many of us left here! But thank you for the inspiration and tutelage: I need all the help I can get.
Thank you sir for sharing your story. I applaud you for your courage, we need more 64 year olds like you. I wish you 64 more years of skating my friend. You sir are the inspiration, have a blessed day.
I've been binge watching your videos before actually skating. I use to skate for fun when I was little I'm trying to get back to it. It looks like so much fun 🤗🤗🤗
I was waffling on whether or not to go skating again this morning but you look like you're having so much fun in this video that it makes me want to go skate again
Just getting started, my top speed now is around 30kph, but I’m going to start implementing the constant compression & core activation tips from your other double push video! Thanks for the inspiration and advice!
Ok, I saw 34 and said noo way. Today was my fifth day of skating on my first ever 125mm skates (haven't been skating for more than 7 years on any skates). And then I realized that my today's speed was 28 KM/H, while this is in MP/H. Lol.
Is this 4x110 setup faster than a 3x125 setup, or no? I can imagine that having the 4 wheels gives you better power-to-ground transfer, but the 125mm wheels would likely roll faster overall? Just curious about that haha.
Hi Joey nice video! I fitness skate now for a very long time. And I want to buy speedskates. I'm wondering how do you brake with that high speed without losing the control and without falling? Thanks for your answer!
Hi, I know this is an old video but I have a question. I've ice skated and played hockey my entire life. Just entering the wonderful world of inline speed skating. After you push out to stride, when you bring you foot back in, are you landing on your "outside edge" and as you push your foot out it is essentially pushing from outside edge to inside edge? Or do you want wheels straight up and down when your foot lands? Does this make sense?
They have eyes so they see them from a distance ,that is why those goggles are for ,they make it easier to spot stones ,pebbles or branches and then the according slow their speed or just go beside them...
How do you brake at such a speed or do you always anticipate what is going to come or what may happen? Did you ever happen to fall at such a speed? Maybe because of some rocks on the road or cracks? Looks dangerous with so many people around. Epic though.
Seen from the front, the right knee disappears behind the left leg, but the right knee never gets that far. Seen from the side, the left knee does not go as far back as the left and therefore cannot get behind the left leg. Do you work on that or is it ok as it is?
@@JoeyMantiaSkates I was looking at that as well. Actually I was looking at when you cross the centerline with your legs it’s almost like you use the inside leg to help you push out to the farther side and vice a versa almost like how pendulum swings to create more momentum and this is great. Are used to rollerblade a lot back in high school just started getting back into fitness cycling I’m glad I found your channel on blading. And I used to rollerblade a lot to build up my legs for wrestling and soccer season. Great channel keep up the excellent work
So how do you find those Bont BNT’s?....I can’t find any reviews on them (that aren’t from Bont themselves). I’m thinking about them as they have the tighter heel. I “was” thinking about some Simmons as I’ve seen they have a tight heel also, but since I live in Australia, I can only get my hands on Bonts without having to worry about international postage.
Im a 50 yr old vet who learned to rollerblade off of YT, to deal wirh my P.T.S.D and anxiety issues, and I have the hardest time trying to keep my speed with both arms behind my back. I've only been blading for 3yrs but won my first half-marathon with the ugliest style ever in my first 9 months. My skills are way better, I average 10 to 12 mph, I reached 15 mph once or twice on a straight away but can't maintain it, unless Im going 30mph down hills, lol. I know I'm doing something wrong though. Whether I'm using two arms or one arm behind my back, or switching skates, from 84mm 4x4 to 90mm 4x4 or to my 100mm 3w, I can't consistently reach or maintain 15mph, I'm averaging 6 miles at 3o min ever day, I'm trying to get 6 miles under 25 min, so What's the secret to skate with both arms behind my back?
@@JoeyMantiaSkates I believe that immediately but when you consider the average speed of road bike races you have to say that it is higher than in an inline marathon.

It’s beautiful to watch and the back ground music I love it...it’s nearly relaxing. I could watch this before to sleep ☺️
Another great video! Keep them coming. #GrowTheSport
This is the best video. you are simply the best inline speed skater!!!
Could you please film a video from back side? I am wondering how that leg transition is done.

Great technique 👍
Hey Alan Watts in the background music 😆 I appreciate the skating tips and demos.

Haha, me yesterday. Max speed 30 km/h 😂
I've reached 38 km/h with 125mm (freeskates boots, 12,5" frames), on flat.

125 is faster, but i prefer skating on 110 because its a better experience and more comfortable in my opinion
I love this video! :)
I will need to look up what doube push is 😂. Nobody has helped me improve my skating as much as you, but I am still a beginner

Do you ever worry about hitting a rock or branch at that speed? If you come across one, what do you do?

A combination of flat / near flat area plus low skating position makes wind brake very effective, in short he stands up
Great .
The best
34 is usually my max speed on hills. Wow
I have same skates they are so hard to skate in but I have been inline skating for years
I like your vidéo
Im from Togo un Afrique
Please film this again with better camera equipment. I love that video.
Can u make a vedio on proper ban and hand swing
In my 40’s I did 24 mph, now 59 with skinny legs. Need to get back into shape, I guess I have a long long way to go.

Fastest on earth? ( no slip streaming support or little from that front bicycle). If you drone to record will see the maximum real speed. :)

mounted a gopro on the back of Viktor Thorups bike

Wonder who would win a marathon, a Cyclist or a inline skater
A cyclist. Inline skater use more energy at the same speed.
Depends on the who's wearing the skates and who's pedaling the bike
