The New FR Neo Skates…

- The FR Neo skates are a brand new range of freeride Inline skates from FR. The line up features three models, two of which have an innovative dual density shell. I give my thoughts on the models plkus a run down of shell sizing, fit, weight and spec.

Some really good comments here. I've actually uploaded a whole new video with some extra info, mainly about the amazing mounting on this skate. See that here: th-cam.com/video/4_nqCJYdr28/w-d-xo.html
Would it be possible to get info on how wide the shoe lest is? Would help a lot when ordering online as just EU 44 doesnt tell anything about the width
It’s great to see 👍 2024 is going to be a great year for inline skating. Let’s see more folk blading and posting on social media.
Just turned 60 and when i blade I hear people say I used to skate. I just say, start again as you’ll love it even more than you did.
I can Answer the Dual Density Shell concept. It’s the same as the flying eagle F7. So the dual shell will actually be more responsive, because the softer top shell will allow you to get a tighter more precise fit and the lace area flex’s more and bends with your foot in the liner vs the harder stiffer plastic not flexing and the liner pushing against the top shell with no flex. It will be more comfortable because the shell is working with you vs you pushing against shell. It’s a more mutual and natural bond with your foot.
flying eagle kicks so much ass. that price point is incredible for the product you get
On the aggressive side, Fifth Elements are built the same way. I love the feel of them.
The clincher for me between flying eagle and fr2's were the chunky frame bolt on the frs..
@@largeraj1845 you might have specific needs but the frame bolts on my aggressive setups are twice as small as my Flying Eagle, and take 10x the impact and torsion without budging an inch. I don't think it's a real criteria
Great explanation Edward 👌👌👌
The neo looks dope, recently bought some fr2s from you guys which are lovely may change the liner tho as it's annoying to put on. Thanks for a great service 👍🏿
Excellent review!
Ooohhh yes I was waiting for this one.
Carbon boots also feature dual density: extra hard composite bottom, flexible leather-like top.
How soft is softer I wonder. Do they go for a hybrid skate feel in hardboot? That makes sense for me
Can you please do a review of the FR SL Freeride? Inquiring minds would be much appreciated if you could.
seconded
They brought VERY limited stock into the UK, we'd likely do a review later in the year when they have more available 🙂
@@LocoSkates The limited stock would explain the lack of reviews or content about it across the internet
I picked up a pair of those but I haven't really used them much, they do fit a little smaller lengh-wise than the standard lining (mine are both EU 40) but I imagine it'll pack out just fine. Also what was weird is the liner is actually more "poofy" and squishier than the stock carbon lining. I was expecting more of a intuition V2/wizard lining but it's much different. The tongue is also taller and thicker which I'm not sure I really like much tbh. The wheels are fairly nice though it's not as maneuverable as I thought it might be but it may be the wheels are just rounder than I'm used to. Also the instep strap is worse than the one on the Igor model but that's the same with any of the SL style skates.
I love the design.
Dual plastic is just like the 5th elements from Roces. I have a set of them and it works fine, although the M12 also ride well with the RL1 liner, they could also use dual plastic in my opinion. I myself have the FR UFR AP 2021 with intuition liner and compass 80mm frames also ride very nicely, I would like to try this new one out someday
Is it the same shell length in fr neo size 40 compare to fr1 size 40 ?
I got some frx 80s not long ago, they are awesome!!!
have the FR 1 deluxe white with intuition liners. I’ve just bought the Neo 2 dual and I took the 3 wheel frame off and mounted an endless 80 frame. The front of the boot is now 1-2 cm’s lower than the FR 1. The heel is the same height. The Neo is more comfortable for me in the mid foot area. Shell sizing is tricky. I’m a 39-40 in FR 1 intuition version (which felt squashed around my mid foot), I’m size 40 in the Neo. The white intuition liner fits great. I now have a much better fitting solution. I’d love a white upper and black lower dual density intuition version.
Hello, what is the length of your foot ?
Help! Neo 2 or FR2 for street skating?? Or F1 and thanks for your comments
Hello. I do a lot of wizard and distance skating around town. I understand that the softer boot would likely function better as a skate for casually zooming around but i was wondering if the harder shell would work for wizardy moves? Im currently on a set of cjs but would like a 165 mount option 😁
u also do a lot of labeling...
I wonder if you weighed the size 7 neo vs size 8 neo if there would be a weight difference. I would guess the 8 would have have less material to provide more internal space OR they’re going to weigh the same
Do any of the new Neo models have the aluminium frame mount block that is in some of the original models like the FR1?
They all do yes. 👍
Thanks for your videos, guys, they're so helpful. Oh, those higher-end ones look so good. Will there be a 90mm version available? I've been using 90mm for ages, so I'm used to them, but my shoe size is just 5, so the wheelbase is way longer than the shoe, which makes me a little less agile. So I'm playing with the idea of downsizing to 80mm, just not sure how much that would compromise my speed. I just skate around London streets - around 30km per ride. Your recommendation will be much appreciated. Keep up the good job! Thanks!
No 90’s from stock, but throw on an Endless frame (or similar) and you’re good!
I've got FR1 few days ago and other than the fact that I need to buy longer ankle strap to be able to buckle it up they are perfect. My advice to anyone buying FR1 or possible 2, 3 & X is make sure you're getting 150mm ankle strap and not 120mm one!
Are you aware that u can press a button and lift to unlock the ankle strap, and so get it to go further? Before I realised this I thought it was short too
Did you buy your fr1s the same as your shoe size or did you size down for the skate?
@@kalanimagaoay7988 I bought the biggest model which is 30cm. So I measured my foot and it was 29.7cm. FR1s that I have fit very sungly and frankly if I had the choice I would have taken half size or one side bigger.
Do Rollerblade Lightning next !
Coming up
Can you install a universal brake on rollerblades where the axle can be rockered?
Yes, this one: www.locoskates.com/products/fr-brake-for-4-wheeled-frame-76-84mm?_pos=3&_sid=876b3ae90&_ss=r
for me it was a shame that the 3x110 version is blue. I would have bought it if it was black or grey. and I am not buying the black neo version because 4x80 is just a setup i don't like. but instead i bought Rollerblade Lightning 90s instead, very happy with them. (i already put 3x110 frames on them, although 4x90 is alright too)
90 have great speed please?
@@jasonnestor7342 nah 110 have better speed. 90 is too slow for me.
The Neos (not dual) weight almost the same as my wizard setup (Twister and 5x80 frames, 1.9Kg).
Why didnt you weigh the Blue Neo Freeskate?? And are the frames removable???
I was just comparing Neo 80 to FR2 80 weights. The Neo 110 would also be 180g heavier than an FR2 with similar 110mm wheels/frames. The frames are all removable 165 mount yes 🙂
I'd gladly buy the Neo, but I need a different color than Teal. Wish they offered more colors...
What about the mounting plates? is it a 7-hole or a 1-hole plate? Are they going to release just the boot?
Have a look here re mounting plates: th-cam.com/video/4_nqCJYdr28/w-d-xo.html
@@LocoSkates Thank you mate!
What's the skate model in the top left corner?
Zoom 80?

Hows the rollerblade lightning compared to the fr frx or something in that $200 catagory. Thanks.
That video is coming up… give us a week
@@LocoSkates awesome! Thanks 👍👍👍
Will like to see a tear down of the neo skates.
The video we put out today has a little bit of that… th-cam.com/video/4_nqCJYdr28/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ezach_VZH5qI6ynA
Interesting that they used a thinner plastic for the top of the skate on the neo because my FR skates in my opinion are too thin on the top of the skate already. I can bend it with my finger. I do not really love my FR skates at all, especially the stock version. Had to change frames & liners & wheels right away. I think Powerslides & Rollerblades are better quality & good right out of the box!
strange i have the opposite experience, i have owned multiple FR and Rollerblade skates. And i have noticed FR truly has superior build quality in my experience, more sturdy, more extra gimmicks like adjustable bolts everywhere, no rivots anywhere, all replaceable parts. Rollerblade has good build quality too though, and I have no experience with Powerslide.
@@doctorgonzo7777 huh. As they say… if the shoe fits…. Or skate. I have to say that Powerslide urban skates are the most bang for my buck. Love those liners, but I like the Iqon 255mm x4 wheel frames on them. And they glow in the dark 😱
Stoked for Rec Skaters! (I just don’t get why they aren’t riveted. FR UFR cuff bolts despise me 😢)
Do you find they come undone?
@@LocoSkates yes lost 2 because I was paying attention on a 10mile
I wish they didn’t change the shell sizing. I got the neo 2 in they were too big😭
They should have soft material only where the middle strap closses so the pressure on midfood bone from the big tow up has even pressure all around it everything else hardboot
Also i still feel the second wheel should go straight into the boot to lower the skate only 2 mm between in sole and second wheel
Did FR really manage to bring the ride height a bit lower? I have heard this claim and it also looks like that.
For the shell sizes it would be nice if you could measure the internal lenghts or compare them to the original FR by putting them on without the liner. For someone like me with footsize 46 riding the 43-44 shell with thin liners that would be the only way to know if it could work with the Neo. I guess we will also know more if the size chart of the Intuition version is coming out.
And finally you could just as well only offer the "bigger" liner version for each shell...
Damn. Didn't notice. Good spot. Gonna film a new video about that now.
I have the FR 1 deluxe white with intuition liners. I am user of seba fr1 46 with quite thin and wide foots, I tried neo2 46 and it seemed slightly thinner which I liked but I didnt like it enough to buy neo instead of buying new liners for fr1. I think they significantly changed arch support but it may be caused by slightly different shell fit. Still I will consider buying them becouse contrary to twisters, rb80 and zoom they fit me quite well, but I want to hear some reports about longevity of such hybrid shell.
I hope they will offer this shell with longer frames, with my foot size I am not really comfortable on short frames.
I feel that if a frame is going to come with a abilitity to rocker your wheels up or down it should be all of the wheels that ypu can do so to not just the two outer or two inner
The point of rockering is to have the front and rear wheels be higher. Moving the center wheels serves no purpose
Why are the low quality wheels on this model? 4x80
This is the entry level model. The Neo 1 is the performance model with upgraded wheels.
@@LocoSkates ok
Какая это модель?) Это ведь не MT+?))
I thought Neo use normal frame mounting bolts now I believe 🤔
No, It still has the fat ones
Best looking skates in the market but ill never buy 165mm over Trinity or UFS
Anyone knows cheap sites to buy some 80mm wheels? I earn 350 euro month

July for Deluxe?!? For real?
Yeah bummer. Same across the world I think. They must’ve missed the boat.
i think it's great for them to use a softer plastic on the top of the shell, especially for people with high instep, it might be a lifesaver. what about mounting? from what i've seen, FR have gone from 7 hole (FR1) to 5 hole (neo), which is a bummer, because that means no more 180mm frame mounting (endless 100). confirm/deny? toebox looks much better on the neo tbh tho.
