Good choice and CONGRATULATIONS on your bike!! I'm in Catskill Upstate New York with the Heritage model and I'm already on my 2nd set of Pirellis with 6,023 miles over 140 hours since October 14th! BUT my average speed is only 44mph because I'm mostly on twisty back country roads and the NYS Thruway is ok if I get the urge to speed in a straight line. Like you, I bought this bike to ride, not park outside bars and coffee shops, or connect to a battery charger for 6 months a year. The weather's pretty much the same mid 20°s up here here and I'm out rain or shine. I just wait a day or two after it snows so the salt and sand mix gets blown to the curbs or road shoulders. This is a long one but I hope it will help out a bit.
I would strongly suggest that you check your speed with Google Maps or any Speedometer App!!! My speedo is off by 1-3mph up to 45mph. It might save you some speeding tickets!! I learned that I have not been pulled over by the NYS Troopers on I-87 with the Cruise Control set at 80mph because I was only doing 75mph and it also assured me that cars and trucks were not passing me doing 90mph as I thought. You probably already know that outside of the 5 boroughs you're usually safe within 5mph-15mph over the posted limit depending on traffic conditions. Unfortunately I didn't have the app open when the opportunity presented itself to hit 103 on the speedometer before I ran out of straight road, so I don't know exactly how fast I was going but I definitely had a bunch of RPMs left before redline!
Also, I'm curious about your Cruise Control issue!! When did you experience it? Did it resolve itself, or have you not just not had it happen again because it's much colder out now and you're not on I-87 all the time? Mine only happens on days warmer than 40°F, in 6th gear above 65mph after 10-20 miles!! The first time it happened was scary as I was on the Thruway with Cruise at 80mph. I just throttled back up and went on my way like nothing had happened. I also tried 5th gear at 80mph with no problem but that bothers my old Harley brain that remembers high rpms are a no-no for V-Twins and I'm trying to reprogram it.
My dealer changed the Transmission Gear Sensor under the 2 Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty but that hasn't solved the problem. They told me that the issue is known by CFMOTO and they are looking into modifying the Shift Drum for the next production run. I asked if the sensor is the same as the one in the Kawasaki 650cc engine that this is licensed from, but was just told there's no additional info available. One guy on YT has a short video where his dealer didn't cover the Reverse Gear Sensor that he showed himself changing but he hasn't posted any updates or responded to my comment posted a few days ago. That one is here th-cam.com/video/rGfYpB5kMtA/w-d-xo.html
After that Transmission Gear Sensor was replaced, the Cruise Control disengaged again at 80mph on the Thruway but this time the bike went into limp mode while I was in the left lane. I held it together enough to hit the flashers and used hand signals that I was in a jam and made it over to the shoulder. It freaked me out so I sat for a few minutes but I didn't think to take a picture of the flashing code! I waited a few minutes to relax restarted the bike and took off like it never happened. I let the dealer know and the next dry warmer day I went out to recreate the problem and it happened as expected. After 10 miles in 6th, Cruise at 80mph, but this time in the right lane it happened so I pulled over took some video and pictures of the code which was P06069 4, all the bike data, and mile post markers, to reconstruct for distance and engine temperature scenario. The call back from the dealer was that CFMOTO had no record of that code and is going to replace the ECU under warranty.
Now I'm an old pro so if I have to hit the thruway I stay mostly in the right lane and just restart the bike while I'm rolling in Limp Mode and turn off the Cruise or shift it into 5th if my arthritis acts up.
Now to the question you posed. Is the bike worth $10,000? Well, if you look at what YOU paid yes the dealer markup was very high. The MSRP is roughly $6500. Add the extra Destination Charge, Freight Fee (Shipping/Receiving), Setup/Prep Fee, Document Fee, Tags/Title Fee, Sales Tax, Fuel, and State Tire Fees and out the door cash you're looking around $7,500 to $8500 depending on where you live and the size of your dealers balls. With financing, your rate would depend on the dealers banks, your age, and credit history which can EASILY put you over $10,000.
I'm an older guy with fair to good credit so with ZERO down and 60 month financing I was quoted $173 a month which comes out to $10,380. After comparing stats, prices of Japanese bikes, AND learning that Honda had NO Rebel 1100s in stock within 150 miles, and they start at $10k. The other Japanese makers had very few larger than 500CC bikes in stock and almost NONE of the major motorcycle magazines or youtube videos had ANYTHING bad to say about this bike, or any CFMOTO bike for that matter, my mushy brain figured that at $1000 per 100CCs and ~only~ $250 in interest per year to own a brand new bike was a score. I can also pay it off earlier for less with no penalty, AND the finance company only required collision coverage. I opted for the $250 a year Geico plan that includes towing, fire and theft. It might even cover a rental vehicle but I've been too busy riding to read the policy.
For all the people unsure about or knocking THESE Chinese CFMOTO bikes I'd like to point out that CFMOTO has been making four wheeler quads, and side by sides for over 20 years, and bikes in Asia and European markets for a few years now so this isn't their first jump into the ring. It's just their first yeasr here in the US, and this CL-X was designed by an Italian working at Austrian KTM.
They licensed this 650cc motor from Kawasaki, bored it to 699cc and retuned it. CFMOTO also partnered with Austrian KTM in 2013 and KTM are currently making the engines for several of CFMOTO's bikes. The CL-X has Japanese KYB suspension, German Bosch Fuel Injection, German Continental dual channel ABS, Italian Pirelli tires. The Heritage comes stock with Spanish JJuan brakes, and the Sport model has the Italian Brembo 4 piston dual rotors brakes that several reviewers admitted was too much and unnecessary for a bike of this power. And, Brembo acquired JJuan in November 2021 I guess because why not buy out your closest competitor!?
In the US they come with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty, compared with 3 years in Canada and 5 years in some European countries.
So joking or serious, I'm sure Baljooter would agree with me telling you:
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate self canceling turn signals
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate gauge clusters that automatically light up if you're in a tunnel or riding under trees, AND gets brighter as the sun goes down
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate riding hands free or resting your throttle hand with cruise control that works from 4th gear from 24mph for small town roads and NYC's 25mph speed limits and speedbumps all the way up to 80mph** on the highway **80mph is really 75mph until they figure out how to recalibrate or reprogram the computer.
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate Pirelli tires that handle great in the rain at speed above 50mph at your own risk, of course!!
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate getting better than 45-50mpg when non-ethanol premium is still $4.50 a gallon!
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate fully adjustable front and rear suspension systems
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you like having your inverted forks covered in dead bugs, slime, and dirt that will corrode and chew up your fork seals because this bike has shields over the exposed front suspension.
DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you hate watercooled, fuel injected, dual ABS, six speed bikes that come with a 2 year unlimited mileage waranty
And absolutely definitely DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE if you like skidding out of control downshifting from 6th to 3rd in an emergency or race. This bike has a slipper clutch and that WILL NOT HAPPEN. If you don't what that means check out this article bikeadvice.in/slipper-clutch-how-works/

I paid $9500 ride away in Australia, and the dollar is shit right now. flat conversion rate would equal $6535 USD. I feel like whatever dealer is asking $10k USD is straight up scamming people

@@baljooter yeah that's pretty bad. $9500 USD is nearly $14000 AUD. For that price you can buy a new mt-07, xsr 700, kwaka rs 650. Albeit the tech on those bikes isn't as much, but the resale value is higher and they are well known brands.
