you got straight intestine, smallintestine and stomach, lets suppose he was completely stuffed until there was all his blood caught in the intestines...
The point about the coaching is legit, it's pretty annoying. There's a lot in GI BJJ that you're doing that your opponent isn't going to notice during the fight, and you're counting on them not noticing. When their coach suddenly yells "he's feeding your lapel kick your leg back!" Bruh, train your boy before the fight not during.
I agree for sports like this. Personally I like how boxing does the coaching thing - between rounds. Yes coach can try to yell something during fight but about 99% of the time the boxer either doesn't hear it or isn't listening (or isn't able to process the information). Both because its fast paced intense fighting but also because crowd is often quite loud (even when they aren't cheering there is this constant ambience). And even the coaching between rounds might not work. Escpially on later rounds when boxer is getting tired (or at least controlling their stamina by controlling their breathing - especially newer boxers need to focus on their breathing techniques so much it is gonna be hard to listen actively). So it becomes one of those minigames where boxer and coach need to balance between keeping it simple vs where to put your focus on: do you maintain stamina by breathing, do you listen to coach and focus on tactics or do something else? Some coaches that don't know their boxer well enough might try and give too much information and give tips on which techniques to use or mention clear weaknesses opponent had - but if the boxer is tired, new, lacks chemistry between coach or for some other reason isn't listening then the coaching between rounds is near worthless (other than maybe boxer gets the vibe that coach is there for them and thus giving bit of motivation or feel of safety.. etc psychological effects that seem to play much bigger role on boxing than many admit). Would like to coaches step aside in martial arts tournaments and match events similar way as they do in boxing.
"You might have Tzu'd a little too close to the Sun" is a WAY better line than you probably give yourself credit for, Sensei Seth. It got a serious chuckle out of me, anyway. And since I'm only seeing one other comment about it, I wanted to take a moment to say, I see what you did there. Nicely done, good sir.
bjj is not from jiu jitsu, the gracies learned kodokan judo from Mitsuyo Maeda the gracies than modified and renamed it gracie jiu jitsu, which than spawened bjj
@@houseofaction they didn't really modify much, traditionally judo had a fairl heavy focus on ground techniques, and Maeda even more so because o all the fights he was doing. If you've seen videos o Helio when he was young it essentially looks like he's doing judo
@@houseofaction Judo was and arguably still is a style of Jujutsu. Back then, it was still known as Kano Jujutsu which is why the Gracies named their system the same.
He's right about the coach commentary. More than a few times their coach will give them exactly the right advice to shut down what you're attempting. Likewise, your coach will be telling you what to watch out for. Sometimes it's just a yelling match of "pass, pass, pass" or "up, up, up" or "go, go, go", but most of the time it's just stuff like "work the arm", reminders of the time and/or points margin. Most irritatingly though, you'll have your own plan, and then your own coach will see it's available and start saying that out loud, making your opponent immediately shift weight/retract that limb, completely nullifying the last 10-30 sec of sneaky manipulation and/or misdirection. Win some, lose some - well maybe lose more for me, but still ... learning opportunities.

I scrolled for a while to see if someone answered your question about that red belt. It’s just used for scoring purposes. If you have two people in the same colored gi, you can award points to the person with the funky colored belt. Some comps use belts regardless of gi color and some use ankle bands, especially for nogi.
the reason the guy in the second fight had a red belt was because they both have the same colour GI and the other colour belt is supposed to help the judges tell who is who, for example when i competed i had a opponent who was also wearing a blue GI so i wore a green and yellow belt so they could tell who is who

Only a blue belt here, but I think Seth is correct about BJJ moves being "made up" if by that he means there's no one correct way to do them and they are all just based on principles. For example, my mount on a person smaller than me will be different than on a person larger than me and in both cases will change based on what they are doing to try and escape. Same with an arm bar - it can be done from so many different positions (including standing in some cases). It's probably more accurate not to think of it as a bunch of different techniques but as different applications of the principle "isolate the shoulder and bend the elbow in the wrong direction". All that said, I think there is still value for sure in teaching "techniques". At my level I understand some of those principles and can pick them out but I'm just not good enough to come up with moves on my own based on them except rarely. I think the techniques are a bridge to ultimately learning principles.
