  • Why does Everybody go so hard on Saenchai?! Idk but I got to spar the Muay Thai legend and I also breakdown some of the no-gos of sparring Saenchai!
Shoutout to @WonderboyMMA @hard2hurt and @yokkaoboxing who are mentioned in the video!

Love how respectful yall were. Saenchai is still fighting at 43 years old. HE HAS HAD 378 PROFESSIONAL MUAY THAI BOUTS. The fact that people will try to hurt him after he has put his body through so much for the sport is so disrespectful. But also, how friggin stupid do you have to be to think you can go hard with someone who has had 378 professional fights????

Probably because some of them have huge egos, and being in the presence of someone so great is a constant reminder how they’re really nobodies, so if they can beat up a great then they can delude themselves that they really are great fighters.
Also some of them probably just have no respect or control and shouldn’t be sparring with them.

I felt the same amount of happiness and joy sparring against Lerdsila. I was definitely fanboying like crazy, I hardly get to train anymore since I work at a crazy factory working 50+ hours a week. But sparring a legend was something I didn’t want to miss and reminded me why I fell in love with Muay Thai over 20 years ago. One day I’ll meet Saenchai, it’s a dream of mine while he’s physically able and before my knees completely give out lol. Amazing content brotha, you deserve way more recognition

For some of them, I wanna give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it's probably not just an ego thing but a mixture of wanting to leave an impression on your idol, anxiety of wanting to prove your skills to a legend, nervousness of sparring in front of a crowd and a celebrity, in front of cameras.

The thing is, for most people who have never stepped into a ring against a real veteran fighter, there is a different atmosphere that is present especially if the other guy is projecting a very strong aura that is creating very intense mental pressure on you. Your fight or flight response is subconsciously triggered and you either start running backwards or like most inexperienced guys who don't like to lose, being unfamiliar with the situation, you try to push hard against the pressure and you overdo things and go full blast just to get rid of the jitters and then the adrenaline takes over and you end up acting like a douchebag. Most times this is due to lack of proper coaching. Either your coach is too busy most of the time and just let you get away with doing things on your own which sometimes happens in a large gym or you're just one of those highly egotistic guys who think so highly of themselves that you ignore the coach and his advise and do your own thing.

There is a difference between your sparring partner and a visiting instructor. Their health and your health are more important than your ego. Also there is no one who is going to be able to turn up as much power as Saenchai. He's beaten the breaks off some very experienced fighters, multiple times. There is nothing you can throw at him that he can't give back a hundred times more but it's so disrespectful to the people hosting him, to the other students and to the instructor themselves.

I don't know if it was just because they were fighting someone so skilled, but even then, why go all out in a spar? I am just learning about Muay Thai kickboxing and how they train. I gotta say that Mauy Thai really trains hard in conditioning its super impressive how much punishment these top fighters can endure and dish out. I've watched some of Saenchai's highlights and I can't believe how explosive he is. Very fast and powerful, he is very good at capitalizing on the openings he makes with feigning kicks and knee strikes to quickly transition into fast elbows and strikes. He is also extremely dynamic and seems to easily keep his opponents on the defensive. Absolutely astounding that he has gone so long undefeated.

Honestly something similar happened to me, a few days ago i when I first sparred. I was relatively new and had done Taekwando for a month an a half, I’m still a white belt. But on my first sparring session a few times where I was getting pressured in a spar there were moments where I would accidentally throw a strike harder than I should. Which I immediately apologized for, and it was chill overall. Everybody knew it was by accident, and it was chill especially since it was body shots only and we were wearing full gear. But of course there’s that one kid at my gym who spars hard, and I sparred him. Overall just don’t be that guy, sparing him was so annoying because he would throw kicks at 100% but pause the spar and step out of bounds every time i would start to try and combo him. And he just at one point bum rushed me and flying side kicked me off the mat and the instructor had to kick him out sparring for the day. Honestly the fact that the kids a blue belt and doing that in sparring against a white belt was uncalled for

If you accidentally hit someone harder than you want don’t stop to apologise mid round, say sorry after. Nothing more annoying then someone hitting you then when you’re about to counter they stop and go ohhh so sorry i didn’t meant to hit hard

@@user-ci4ij7rw6y I don't think it's a problem if you don't STOP anything. If I hit too hard I'd say "shit thats mb" without disrupting the flow. I guess if you're mid combo that would be harder

@@QuantumMecha I don’t know what martial art you train but I train muay thai. If you hit me Im going to hit back IMMEDIATELY before your strike even retracts to your body. If you say “my bad” as you’re retracting and I hit you, now I’m the asshole for using a cheap shot while you’re apologising.

Dude he's such a high level! After the cartwheel kick he's just watching the lead foot probably trying to see if this kid is crazy enough to try it. Why the hell does he walk up to him like that after? This dude would obliterate you for fun.
