Hello! Thank you so much. So appreciate you being here too. And yes, I"m obsessed with long wraps! I can't wait to wear it. Lots of hours of knitting too, it's so much fun
What a great episode! I love your sweater! It is an incredible colour! I’d love to know more about how you dyed the yarn. I also completely agree with you about knitting in the round versus knitting flat for garments. In the round is so much more convenient and straight forward. Have a lovely week and thank you for sharing your makes!❤
Thanks so much! I'd be happy to share more about how I dye my yarn. This was with logwood which is a beautiful and ancient dye material that comes from the bark of a tree. As will all natural dyes, I scour and mordant first before dyeing in a big pot on my stove. Yes I'm absolutely never doing flat again! 😂
Hey Sarah! Your wrap is looking beautiful! I actually really like the high contrast of the black stripes to that lovely variegated yarn. I’d love to learn how to make those liners. You make it sound so easy!
Hey! I haven't knit on it in quite a while but I do want to get back to it soon. I'm half way through the second to last section. And the more I knit the more it grew on me. I love each colour addition. It's looking amazing. Will definitely update on my next episode. I should really try and record a how to video for the liners
Yay Sarah! Great to have you back again! Lovely intro. You have been very busy. Love your purple mohair sweater, so glad you are using the book 💛 . I agree with having a preference to knit in the round and I also adjust any flat pattern to knit in the round. I have a problem with knitting cardigans in the round which Asa Soderman (Tricosa) addresses in her ziggurat method. When you steek and then cut, if you have to unravel (possibly don’t do that just gift it to someone it will fit ) then, there are only short lengths of fibre to work with. I guess my thinking is that I would just steek anyway. I want to knit the campfire cardigan by Amy Herzog but I really do not want to knit it flat. I need to work out another way. I’ve wasted so much time thinking about it I could have had a dozen cardigans finished 🙄
Hello! Thank you so much. I just blocked the back of the sweater and it doesn't fit so I'm going to restart in the round. It was a brilliant exercise though and I definitely improved my flat knitting skills!
@@TheMakersCorner I agree Sarah, there are so many lovely people who are doing wonderful sharing. I have been very inspired by your stash busting. I am really working through my stuff. I’m almost finished the EasWas beanie by Kate Davies and I have a few things I’d like to make. I did buy some JAT Knit by numbers KBN wool which was being discontinued and I bought quite a bit. I’m ok with that as I am knitting more prolifically now. I too am enjoying the learning process. I’m doing so much better at finding out why some things are not working for my brain (I’m dyslexic for a small number of things) and how to employ methods which assist me to remove the confusion. I’m glad I kept coming back to your podcast and waited to the end. The reason I thought you may enjoy the Amy Herzog book is exactly what you talked about. I found her very helpful in the same ways and I was introduced to her during the KnitStars program, which I have thoroughly enjoyed while I’ve learnt a lot. Thanks for your joy in knitting, I’m looking forward to your sock pattern too.
i think sock knitting is one of those things that seems ridiculously hard if you haven't done it, but once you try it you realise it's not so bad. i still can't get the hang of 9"circulars though - much prefer magic loop or DPNs. That wattle and wool skein for your socks is beautiful!!
Hello! And here's me always hating on magic loop. I just can't get a rhythm with it at all. I will be using it to do 2 at a time soon though and I'm very excited about that prospect.
Thrilled to be a winner! Oh my, it's my first time ever. Thanks, Sarah, for another lovely episode and your give away. I'm walking on a little cloud. :) I've sent you an email. K
Hi Sarah, I’m about to start the Aros sweater too. Have swatched and good to go. Did you do a provisional cast on when you started? The pattern doesn’t say to do this but was just wondering how to pick up the neck stitches at the end with a usual long tail cast on? Lovely podcast as always ❤
@@TheMakersCorner Good to know - thanks so much. I’m using Bellevue Park 4ply merino which I purchased at BWS this year. Haven’t used it before but it feels lovely. Holding it with Isager silk mohair. Knitting it for my daughter. Fingers crossed. Relatively new to the craft - started in Covid. Loving the beautiful on-line knitting community. Thanks for your help ❤️
@@libbyfifis6806 I started in Covid too! Fell down a rabbit hole when Neil was trapped in Melbourne and couldn't get home. So grateful for the online community too. It's been a lifesaver sometimes.
Nice to catch up with you. Your infectious giggle makes me joyful Do you think the mohair is an irritant to your nose ? How did you get on knitting with it ? See you next time I hope you had good Christmas Healthy new year 🎉
Thank you so much Sue, I hope you had a great time over the holiday season. It's definitely not the mohair as I knit a whole jumper and it didn't bother me once. I loved knitting with it and love the outcome. I think my allergies had just flared up a bit. Looking forward to 'seeing' you soon again too
Always good to see you! I love the wrap, and you will love it too….nothing like a long knit to wrap around and around!
