I stuck around 👋 You amaze me how articulate your are! I like your simple idea for patterns. I have made a couple of your Italian summer shawls. Love those foam puzzle pieces, use them all the time. I like a simple collar just like you do. That was amazing what you did to lengthen your sweater sleeves! See you next time 🧶

Hi Francesca! You’re not alone! I also love simple layer collars 😉. In fact, I love both…
What I sure love is your podcast! I’ve been bingewatching it these past months.
As I’ve been learning Italian su internet da più di tre anni (😊) and that you are THE Italian knitter, I have a suggestion for you: maybe you could teach us a knitting word in each episode? This way, when we will be travelling in Italia and reach to an Italian knitting shop, we’ll be able to say some words in Italian!
Thanks for the good time spent watching you and your beautiful projects and happy knitting! ❤

I think I need more this kind of basic sweaters in different colours in my wardrobe 😍 ps. I think Lento uses fingering + suri alpaca, which is 300m/50g, which is thicker than 1 strand of silk mohair but thinner than 2 strands of silk mohair held together.

Hi from a (today) very sunny Vancouver, Canada! The longer your videos the better 🤩. I just recently bought the Host yarn in exactly the same colour. It's actually mostly cotton! I got enough to make a wrap cardigan but now that I have seen your shawl I might rethink. Your lento is beautiful and the colour suits you very well. But you can probably pull off almost any colour. My preference for a simple or a folded collar very much depends on the yarn and the pattern. For a thicker yarn and a high crew neck I prefer folded but for a thinner yarn and a lower crew I like the simple one layer. I am about to finish the light loop sweater and I really like the collar of that pattern (two strands of Isager mohair).

Thank you! I do love my Lento and I’m looking forward to cast on another one. Both the wrap cardigan and the shawl are lovely ideas, I hope you’ll be able to make both at some point. The shawl is more of a mindless knit and the wrap cardigan more challenging, so it’ll depend on your mood I think.
Hope Vancouver is treating you well (and that it has some lovely yarn stores! - last time I visited i wasn’t a knitter yet so I didn’t even go look for one 🙈)

The sound and lighting are very good. You are young and slim. You can wear either collar well, but that is not the case for others! I think the single is more comfortable, but for some the double is more flattering. In MN in the winter the double is the way to go. Thank you!

Hello Francesca, thank you for a lovely episode. I love the patterns you have been designing. I plan to make the cowl for a friend for her birthday. I think both collars have their place but I dislike having to go back and stabilize the double collar with elastic or a line of crochet. They alway seem to stretch out of shape.

Love your knits! I let my hair go grey during Covid. When I was a brunette, I wore a lot of earth tones. After much research I have learned that grey hair looks good with white, black, grey, navy, blue jean, NOT cream, often not yellow, but great with most “jewel” tones (bright red, scarlet red, hot pink, dark turquoise, dark aqua green, purple, royal blue). Many women can carry off mauve and other softer versions of those colours. In conclusion, the grey and blue half and half wrap would most likely look great on your mom and would go with much of her wardrobe). I would definitely want to wear it.

Hello Francesca from cold and gloomy Berlin. We are almost to the winter solstice and the days feel short indeed. Its kind of you to send good wishes to those of us up here ❤. Your video content and quality was excellent, no complaints from me! I appreciate how you talk about your projects, the patterns and yarn. It really helps me understand what I might want to knit myself! I‘m team simple collar. I recently had to frog a double band becauseI messed up the pick up ratio and did not like the end result. I’m pretty certain I‘m only going to make a single knit collar now instead. Less work and I think it looks nicer. Maybe on a super chunky sweater it can look cozy? But for me, its not the more polished look.

Hi ! I think it was a great idea to add another string of mohair because… I made two sweaters like the original with the recommended yarns and do not like / wear them at all because it is too airy and at the shoulders I can see my shoulders skin through the open stitches… not pretty at all ! I should give the pattern another try with your suggestion…

My Lesson learnt. I posted a birthday card with a gift voucher. It never reached its destination. So now, absolutely everything I post, I add and pay for tracking. The triangle blanket is lovely. My only problem is I dont have enough of the same thickness of stash yarn to make. The folded over neck looks more tailored, but it does depend on the style of the garment. And if it suits it. Could you do a tutorial please of how you do the knitting join/Russian grafting in the future. Gorgeous cat. Reminds me of my beautiful boy Bilbo, who lived to be 19.

OMgosh! I knit the same type of sweater out of DROPS, and just like you, I’ve worn it and realized the sleeves are too short! Mine also are done in twisted stitch. My question is, after it’s detached, stitches put back on the needle, why don’t you just knit it longer and then do the cuff the length you wish? Or were the Russian stitches necessary, or just for embellishment? They’re beautiful by the way!! I love your videos! Thank you for them!

  • @lyndaannibal8990

Thank you, I really enjoyed your podcast and I like podcasts that are longer. I think the WS on your ball of yarn might mean super wash? I prefer the single layer collar, the folded one looks nice but too warm for where I live , which is near Vancouver BC, Canada. I think if I lived in the interior or up North, I would want the folded one during the really cold days, maybe. I’m old, and I run on the hot side, so maybe not. I look forward to the next podcast.

Ahh thank you for solving the “WS” mystery! 👏
That’s exactly it, because on their website I do see that they say that you can wash this at 40 degrees (Celsius) and that they also have a version that does not say “WS” and you can only wash that my hand.

Single collar, defenetly! Although, I recently saw in a podcast, a girl that made a double one where she just knitted the inside part in a very thin yarn and larger needles, producing a very thin layer , and than folded the collar to give it some structure...it was a good solution for a specific problem and it was hardly noticeable. But single is my thing. I HATE double...but Portugal is also hot like hell...and I don't like bulkiness...Thank you so much. Lots of love from Lisbon ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊

I much prefer a plain color. The Double layer collar to me is OK only for a man's sweater. Your Lento is beautiful.

Team Folded Collar! I like the clean edging it gives, what can I say? 🤷

I just looked again and realized that you saved the part you cut, and so it needed to be grafted on!🤦‍♀️ Clever you!!

I don't like collars folded over. I don't normally make heavy sweaters, so it's not usually what would be called for. Yay team no double collar..... LOL

I'm a "double-collar“ person, while hardly bear with "garters"😂 oops. Nevertheless, I love all your videos, and enjoy your vibe with your minimalist knits!

I prefer the single folded collar. But only because I’m quite easily itchy in my neck and the double ones always seem to be in that exact itchy spot. I also don’t like the squishy look in my neck for some reason. The collars look so big and make my small head look even smaller.

Your cat is so sweet! Most of my cats are too cranky to kiss😾I like a single layer collar. I can’t stand a turtleneck but I wonder if I might like the kind of collar that is wider and stands up away from your neck. Your Drops Air shawl is tempting me!

You aren't alone. I'm not a fan of the folded over collar, either. I also don't like them so high up against my throat. I much prefer having the neckline at least a couple inches below my collarbone, or I feel like I'm being strangled.

I prefer single layered collars. I’m not a fan of the double layered collar…if I’m going to knit extra rows it’ll be for a turtle neck.

Be careful with the project bag. Velcro and yarn can be a disastrous combination.

🙈 You’re so right. The strand of yarn got stuck on it while I was pulling and I could tell the Velcro was really grabbing it and not letting it go 😅 Maybe I should use the bag for something else
