Bravo.. I think your spinning is marvellous! I thought all your thoughts when you first showed the cream spin! You should be proud of it! I also love Melbourne City Dyeworks Destash sales, but I was a bit slow this time round. Fingers crossed if she does another at some stage. Congrats on your 1000 subscribers. Always look forward to seeing your happy self. Forget the temp, just knit away- I knitted a wool/mohair shawl during a 35+ heatwave, down here in Melbourne! lol
You are one brave person knitting in that heat ha ha ha I will do my best though. I did struggle through my very first sweater in February up here last year so I know I can do it. Thanks so much for the feedback re my spin. I am very proud and can't wait to spin more.
Heya! Its good to see your podcast. Love the spinning. I can't wait to have the space to get my wheel refurbed and join the making wool movement :) Well done on the stash busting! To be honest, I think that deciding a yarn isn't for you, then its perfectly fine to simply let it go. I have done the same. I've stopped the constant yarn buying by giving myself the goal of getting the stash down to only having the yarn for the next 3-5 big projects and a few smaller balls for socks/beanies/gloves. That way I am always using yarn that's new and exciting. I do allow purchasing to get enough yarn for finishing projects. I love knitting shawls, not a huge wearer though. Trying to get better at knitting what I or others will wear instead of just knitting with yarn that's pretty.
It's good to see you here again too! I do love seeing familiar faces :) Ooooh 3-5 main projects sounds like a very manageable amount with some yarn for smaller projects thrown in there. I would like to half my stash into one box rather than have two. Especially now that I'm also spinning. Spinning is so fast! I'm not totally ready to give up on shawls but we'll see how much I actually wear the 2nd Avenue before I cast on another. I did wish I had one or a cardigan when I was at the beach the other day. The temps drop enough for me to feel a little chilly after a hot day. More cardigans also I think ;)
@@TheMakersCorner I've got a couple of nice felt bags that I want to make my stash fit into. So, similar goals in amount. I settled on the knitting projects as I felt it would help keep me focused on the end goal. If it doesn't work I try something else. I want to have my spinning in another couple of those bags and intend to meld spinning into the projects goal. Eventually, I want to be able to prepare, blend, spin and knit most projects.
@@RAHowes We definitely have similar goals. Learning to process fibre from scratch is deeply satisfying. My friends and I were given a fleece recently. It's pretty old but we might still be able to get some good yarn out of it and if nothing else, our small little spinning circle will learn how to clean and process it as a practice.
@@TheMakersCorner nice! Good luck with it. It's probably best to start with older/less ideal stuff, that way you aren't so worried about damaging it. I have 3 Bendigo ready spins to start. 😂
Corriedale is such a delight, isn’t it!? You’re right to be proud, they’re beautiful yarns you’ve spun up 👏. Everything I’ve heard about the Master Knitters Program makes it sounds like A LOT so well done to you for working through the overwhelm and getting stuck into it.
Your spinning looks so beautiful! I put Consumed on hold at my library straight away when you were talking about it, it sounds like a very important read
Oooh I'd love to hear what you think when you read it. I wouldn't say it was 'enjoyable' but it was my favourite read all year because of how much it made me think

Yes I'm about to start the swatching which I think will make me get over the overwhelm a bit. It's like that first hurdle you know?
And also, I LOVE Corriedale. I've just finished a Merino x Corriedale and now on to a 100% Corriedale. I should have enough for a sweater I think :)
@@TheMakersCorner yeah for sure. Just starting is always the hardest. Plus knitting is the fun part!
@@TheMakersCorner omg, fully hand spun sweater. That’s the dream! 🤩
