Enjoying this given I'm getting back into trials after a 10+ year layoff. Especially liked your discussion about club trials. One thing I always loved was the Man17 "Dead Easy" trials when I was a kid (2004-2007 or so). The harder route could be somewhat technical (they said it was similar to the easy route at their club championship events), but they were dead safe. If you fell off, you were only ever risking a little tumble onto some grass, they had very few hillclimbs. A lot of people favoured them for that reason, so there were loads of kids like me and older folk who were on the harder route but attempting to clean the entire event. Not sure if they still do them but I'd love to do some this year I think.
Brilliant guys, this is exactly what the sport needs, so funny but everything you all said is so true, thanks lads keep them coming looking forward to the next one
I support and applaud UK riders at all levels , good to see Toby and Billy getting to Trial GP , Toby is coming into amazing form. but DOMINATE is a strong word , And the Spanish Flag is going to Dominate the Men’s TGP for a long time to come IMPO , TB is still Number 1 and he’s not done yet, Raga is always a threat , Busto is coming into the best form of his life and getting better every day. I think Dougie and Emma will be the last UK riders to truly dominate , will we see UK riders on the podium ? 100% But DL and Emma have set the bar very high , And Spain continues to produce the talent , and let’s not forget The French pool of talent which is always a tour de force. The new generation UK riders have a mountain to climb , I wish them the best of luck 🤞🏻
@@grski900000000000000 agreed, anyone with eyes can see the Spanish are ahead. But they have an incredible way of bringing up riders with the best for the riders at heart. Where the ACU have their own interests at heart..0
Thought I'd watch a few minuets then keep the rest for when I was at work, end up cracking a can and watched the hole thing and gutted when it finished, proper job lads funny informative and think this show will get bigger and bigger, one thing iv noticed just as me been one off them people I call born again riders people who rode years ago now getting back I to it since covid, for the last 2 year iv rode bits and bobs but iv just finished sorting out a 4rt (always fancied one) and il be taking up trials full time all training and practic aimed at trials, I gave it up at 19 now at 33 iv got such a buzz for it back again, I lived and breathed it as a youngin sometimes 2 trials in a weekend and never missed a weekend, anyway ready to start living and breathing it again, your right though as iv always kept an eye on things lately they has been alot more of a buzz about trials, for me I just think the mx and enduro lads and lasses know where Graham and Billy come from and start looking into it, look forward to next one cheers
Ive only been riding trials for a couple of years. Found the sport late in life. Some of the comments on here are so spot on. I was a competent short circuit road racer but Trials is HARD!! Blessed to have found a brilliant local club. totally hooked. This podcast is perfectly weighted. Thanks Danny and team. Big shout to Worthing Trials Club!!
Hey danny, I rode trials with you back in the day some 20 years ago now! Remember doing the same team trial in wales(1998) as you, I was east yorkshire with brownie etc. Seen you a few times in matlock on the push bike after you switched over. Michael cassidy you may or may not remember me. Anyway good to see your doing well, and doesnt time fly by! just found your channel, very good keep it up something trials needs! 👍
Sure is mate, pretty sure I remember that lid is that an old one of yours, Unfortunately not since 2003, bit of mountain biking but thats pretty much it, Always followed trials since... Great to hear from you though. Brings back memories that seem a very long time ago!
Absolutely mint!!!! Can’t wait for the up coming episodes!!! Trials is the most warmest group of people I’ve come across! Everyone is willing to help and give advice!!!!
Ref ssdt and Toni Bou. When cabestany rode in 2010 i wouldnt have been surprised if hed cleaned the week before the event started. He was a near number to me , his bike was dragged out of a proper bog before section 1 , by the second group he had a dab. He finished 9th i think, Wiggy won. Some of alberts riding was absolutely brilliant to watch but youd be amazed the stuff he didnt clean. I do hope Bou comes to ride it
I'm not sure sure either that Bou at his best would beat Doug at his best in Scotland. Bou's riding style is very dynamic and the SSDT just doesn't favour that.
Loved the podcast - thanks. Would appreciate a bit more trials chat and a bit less banter. On the rider moves at the end of 2023, what about Vertigo with no GP rider or the Jorge Casales move? Looking forward to hearing more about the things we can’t read about elsewhere - Danny’s comments after riding a UK trials championship round were great - more of this please 😊
Back in 1980's we has Miller and Chandler at a club trial they started riding pre 65 trials it almost destroyed the average clubman riding trials. We then had multiple routes.
If the calendar permits fancy coming to do a South Easter Centre round this summer? My club has access to arguably one of the best bits of land in the South East.
@@TrialTube awesome! Nice content as well always enjoyable to hear different opinions of the sport. Even if people disagree with eachother it's the engagement that keeps conversation moving which allows evolution of the sport
Really enjoyed this , it's a fresh approach in supplying content to trials fans. Great to see Sandy who is well known in the MTB world crossing over into trials. Let's face it you could bring in lots of MTB riders as guest presenters, Woody Hole for example or Rob Warner ! ....... now that would be interesting ! For me personally I am spending all my spare time building an MTB facility and have no spare time for other things but after watching I'm fired up to get my GasGas out ! Looking forward to the next episode guys. PS: 2 stroke cologne topic, 100% agree , always said it , a crisp autumn day the smell of two stroke and roll up fags ! Back in the day ( 70's ) the smell to die for was BelRay and Castro R
@@sandyplenty1653 but of course Peaty would be a superb cross over guest with his background in both sports. I would love to see more cross pollination of trials /MTB you never know it could be a great opportunity to bring riders from MTB into having a go at trials as well. As you know there are so many World Cup racers that have fun in the off season riding their trials bikes, Adam Brayton, Danny Hart, Bernie, Brendon, Matt Walker, Kade, Tahnee, Loris, Super Bruni ...... where do we stop here ..... proves the point though. I'm sure there will be a lot of MTB riders seeing yourself raising your trials profile be keen to have a look now. 👌
Why do you think trials is growing in the UK? What has been done to make the sport grow, we are struggling in South Africa to get new clubbies into the sport. Thanks Charlioe
Honestly, we feel like since the pandemic it's a cheaper choice that is way more accessible than MX and Enduro. People are also beginning to see the advantages of riding trials to improve their other sports!
I think lockdown made a lot of people want to get out and do something but mostly road racing, MX and enduro have become really expensive so trials is much achievable
Quite agree about new up and coming talent, shame you never mentioned Jamie Galloway with half the support of riders you mentioned is making a real ark on the sport.
great stuff
