    This case is rock solid (like other Pelican cases). th-cam.com/users/postUgkx3jMFPw9QX_Iu4DNcjW-t9AZ4_iNhJzhE I paired it with the Master Lock 140T set of padlocks. The US Airways ticket agent that checked the case was impressed by how completely the latches were secured. The case has layers of removable foam cubes that can be easily adapted to the contents of the case and keep everything secure. After declaring its contents to the ticket agent, I was allowed to put this case in other checked luggage. Due to its size and black color, this helped insure that it wasn't misplaced by a baggage handler. TSA was (apparently) happy with the packaging as well. If you plan on flying with more than one of the main items, I would recommend buying a larger Pelican case and just transport the case as another piece of checked luggage.

    I own one. It's great. Only negative is the buttons click too loudly when punching in the code. If I hear something and need my gun in a quiet house in the middle of the night, these clicks let anyone who may be there know that I'm awake. Make it with soft push buttons and this thing is perfect. Until then, this safe will be re-purposed.

    We coughed up and bought 2. One for him, one for me. Are they more spendy than 100$ wonder from cabelas? Yep. No we didnt do biometric, too many isses for me to risk it not working when i need it. But the fit and finish, the thought that went into it for the limited spots we could mount made it best option for us. Besides, as instructors we need to eat our own oatmeal with making sure we comply with laws and best practices before telling students what they need to do. The flexibility of opening options is what sold me, the mounting challenges were hubbys selling point. And the assembly is really, really well built.
    Everyone has to decide what works best for their life, their home, their risk level regrding the securing firearms.

      Sterling Forest 🤦‍♂️Only a person who really doesn’t know anything about guns would ever ask such an incredibly stupid question... There are countless guns chambered in 9mm and .45 ACP that would fit in that safe just fine.. But there are also tons of guns chambered in both 9mm and .45 ACP that would NOT fit in that safe.. There are some guns chambered in .45 ACP (like the smith and wesson m&p shield in .45 ACP) that are MUCH smaller than some guns chambered in 9mm (like the sig sauer P226 or beretta 92fs). Additionally, there is no cartridge called .45 Ruger.. There is .45 ACP or .45 Long Colt, but .45 Ruger simply isn’t a thing.. Now, there are Ruger’s that are chambered in .45 ACP, but knowing it’s a Ruger and .chambered in .45 ACP still isn’t enough information for anyone to determine whether the gun you are talking about will fit in that safe or not..

    be nice to Vaultek offer stackable skins of this pistol safe, example: add 2 skins thats slightly larger than the steel gauge thats on the safe, and being able to get the safe up to 1/4" thick with still having the capacity to use its features like the buttons, and charging usb port. I would sell the stackable skins for $35-$40 a piece ...because you know what they say about steel, the more material the greater the protection, and its all about offering options too on an already great device like this.

    Very cool safe. Good review. Generally I view these as devices that merely can keep kids away from guns. Any thief can just grab this and take it or pry it open pretty fast. All safes even the huge ones you can defeat. Some really fast in seconds. Others might take a few minutes. They are all defeatable unless you spend 10's of thousands of dollars putting a bank size vault with inches of steel. If you don't have kids or friendly visitors in your residence that you worry might stumble upon your gun than a gun safe is nothing more than a small delay for any determined thief.
    Crowbars, hammers, magnets and grinding wheels do fast work. Checkout all the youtube videos on busting safes open.

    • @thedude6146
      @thedude6146 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      So true, safes only slow down anyone determined to get inside them. They buy time for the police to arrive and stop the robbery of the contents. That said this safe and others like it are a gun safety kind of safe that keeps out curious or meddling hand. It's not going to stop a thief that came only for your gun. It is effective against the thief that came for your TV and doesn't know there's a gun or anything worth spending time on inside (assuming the safe is affixed and unremoveable).

      Totally agree about safes being more of a deterrent than actual “vault-like security.” I think it’s best to do our research and find a nice balance of fire protection, along with ease of use and durability for ones individual or family needs. Protecting important documents, photos and ammunition are all something to consider when purchasing a safe. I don’t think anyone wants their stockpile of ammo to catch fire😳🤯- I always find “safe” videos and their comment section to be interesting and fun. learning and meeting likeminded folk! Good points. Love everything about it except for the 3-month battery life. I was expecting you to say “3 years” not 3 months. I just don’t see the average person remembering to charge it once every three months. I picture people forgetting to charge it, then when they actually need it quickly the battery’s dead and they have to go find their key. If the battery lasted at least one year this would be perfect. Does the safe send a reminder to your smart phone when the battery is low and needs to be charged?

    • @vaulteksafe
      @vaulteksafe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! The rechargeable lithium-ion battery will last months on a single charge. You can simply plug in to charge up or keep plugged in continuously using the included charging kit for peace of mind. In the event, your battery is running low the safe will alert you and the Vaultek Bluetooth smartphone app will indicate a low battery. Additionally, upgraded lithium-ion batteries and a powerpack are available to extend the battery life.

    Its intended to be hidden or mounted underneath a surface... yet they put all of the controls on the top.. so if your wireless controls fail you can’t get to your gun unless you unmount it... or unless you mount it where the top isn’t obstructed. If you mount your smart key or someone you know knows what it is, that massively decreases security.. literally anyone can get in if the find they smart key..

    He spent about 5 seconds talking about the fingerprint scanner, and how he doesn't trust them. Fair enough, but did you test this one? If so, did it fail you due to body oil on your hands, and how long does it take using that to pop open? My apple MacBook scanner is instant and has never delayed, so the technology is there for sure. That feature is one of the most important parts about this safe and it wasn't explored in this video at all. Finally, that key is super cool, but if a kid gets their hands on it....

    Best design. Just need to be smart about where we put it...out of sight. Or in a bookshelf. As shown.
    DESK location...I'd either get a "lid open style safe by Vaultek . Then put some books on top of it or some tiny sculpture to make it look like a stand. To mount it under the desk to one side is too obvious (if we're not home and being robbed) HECK...why not put it in a desk drawer under "stuff" to hide it till it's needed? Assuming we don't live in one of the few states that mandated that all firearms must be locked in a safe. If we can have a "bedside gun"...Put it in a box of chocolates box. :)
    Unless we have children...or live in CA or NY states...So many places to hide a gun out of sight not requiring a safe.

    My only gripe about it is the price. Isn't it mass produced already? Why is it so expensive? It's mass produce maybe you can cut the price in half and I'm sure you guys still make profit. I'm thinking of buying about 5 but the price $300 for just one makes it unaffordable.

My gun stays in the holster when I am home and on my person. Only time I put it in the safe is when other people stay the night.

    That said, if this was $100 I'd check it out but $300? NOPE. Especially since it will not work with anything 'full sized.' For this price, it should fit 2 large hand guns.

    That is one slick gun safe. It would be cool if Vaultek made the sliding door look like a book so you could put it on a book shelf. Or maybe they could sell it with some sort of contact paper that you could put on the front to make it look like a book or photo album. Great video and you have helped me make up my mind about finally getting one of these units.
