I snuck up on stage to see what pedals you were using that night....I was pretty amazed to find the A3 all on its own....the sound was amazing...I thought you must have had a whole pedal board up there!! Nice...
I noticed it seems to just change eq for different models, though the guitar still sounds like a piezo amplified guitar. I thought it may give a more mic'd sound. still, a great tool to shape you acoustics' on-board pre amp to sound sweeter with comp, eq and a touch of reverb which is all I want anyway for my acoustic improvement..
Great review. I've been using with Weissenborn, Steel & nylon strung guitars. Played some big venues with sound folks loving it. A little fiddly at times but VERY robust and minimises set up times. Excellent piece of kit.
Thanks for the review! Pretty stuffed, with everything, that you need in acoustic multi-effect. I have a 12-string acoustic guitar, with a piezo, but without a preamp. Just looking for a multi-effect for it.
Well I not only got one, I got it, couldn't get it to work right, sent it back, got another from a different source, and it doesn't work right either . I cannot get the menus that the guy in the video gets. I can only scroll through the 'body types' and that's it. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Brett. I hear this unit also has a mic modelling section similar to the fishman auras, as well as being able to use real microphones? Are you able to confirm this? This is the bit I'm most interested in as while I'd love an aura spectrum DI they're a little out of my price range, plus this has all the effects I could ever want already built in. Thank you!
I see that when you push the Effects button, it goes to another effect. My doesn't do anything when pushing the button. I have saved a few effects, but nothing happens. Wonder what I'm doing wrong...
I see it's got 12 string up at the top. Will is simulate the 12 string sound or is it more so meant to bring out the sound when playing an actual 12 string?
I just got mine. I have a Taylor 224ce Koa. The 12 string setting sounds nothing like a 12 string. I think it's there if you are playing a 12 string. Brett, it this correct?
Hello Brett, I am an amateur hobbyist, and I have had this for a while. I am wondering if you can share your settings because I really loved the way how you made it sound.
I'm not sure if many people realise but I use the A3 as my main mixer for all my gigs. As a soloist I just take along my QSC Series powered speaker and the A3 does the rest.
Super. Vielen Dank! Verstehe leider diverse Funkionen noch nicht. BG Mio >> Nachtrag. Ist ein topp Teil! Great. Many Thanks! Unfortunately do not understand various functions yet. BG Mio
I'm guessing this is useful for adding low end to piezo equipped guitars. You have to wonder why they decided to put piezo pickup in the bridge of most acoustic electrics where the strings are the brightest...
saben si este artículo contiene un armonizador de sonido. es decir si al tocar una nota puede producirse hace otra mas puede ser una tercera una sexta u octava, ???
I just got my unit and can't tell if this feature is really working. Pressing the switch seems to do nothing. When I view the frequency display, they are greyed out and just "-----" for the frequencies. How can I tell this feature is really working?
I think he's going straight into his recording interface. An electric guitar amp isn't ideal as they don't reproduce the whole frequency range, if your amp has an effects loop, then I'd suggest going into the effects return. Ideally you'd go into a PA or acoustic amp.

Hi I have the Aura 16 and have just purchased this. The Aura 16 has much better modelling and mic variety its warm. However this A3 has amazing sounding fx and the fact you can set up pre sets is handy.I like to get some nice ,to use your term 'lush' sounds.I use a seperate giga delay unit and boss super chorus so the fact I can only get 2 fx at time on Zoom isnt that big a problem for me .My question is is there anything wrong with using both Aura 16 and Zoom in my fx chain ? and if so which would I put first in my fx chain?Thanx for your time
I was wondering about comparing the fish man too. I know it's probably not fair to base an opinion just on this video, but I thought the Fishman had better sounding models as well. But the zoom has some really neat features, like the built in effects and the feedback tool. I can't really see where it would matter which one you put first in the chain, as long as the compressor goes first. So if you're using the compressor on the zoom, I would put that one first. Just my $.02.
I agree there.Recently I've actually purchased a Fishman Spectrum with the eq and compressor and D.I ,as far as the modeling options I've found the default settings the best way to go.I've figured a little compression is a must for acoustic.I also am loving the Zoom ,its invaluable and has that great option of changing to a different effect combo.I mainly use the great reverbs and comp.I've also purchased a LR Baggs Lyric mic style pick up its fantastic but beware it isnt suited to the Mic Modelling .SO what I have is two leads coming out my guitar one for the piezo going through the modelling and fx and one from the mic pick up going straight into the P.A the combo of 2 sound great
+Anthony Rochester wow. That sounds like the ideal set up. And thanks for the tip on the lyric. I was sort of afraid of that. I was actually considering getting one of those for my OM-28. Right now I've got the K & K pure mini. Any thoughts on how that would work through the Fishman? Seems like it would be OK since it's a pickup and not a mic...
yes Im sure it would work fine with the Fishman,l defs suggest getting The Fishman Spectrum.Because your pick up is passive you probably will need a D.I (if you havent already got one) The Spectrum is kind of 4 things in one.A guitar modeller,a mic modeller,an eq/compressor and a D.I all in one.ooops 6 things in one , a feedback supressor and a tuner. Its a never ending battle getting an acoustic to sound as good as it does plugged in as when its not.
Nvm I bought it anyway there was so many good sounding guitars on it. Only Taylor included was a 314 but it was blown out of the water by te D45, F55, Dove , Hummingbird, LL66 to name a few. Cant recommend the pedal enough :)
Late to the party I guess, but after watching this vid several times, I bought a used one (they are discontinued now). Your vid was very helpful to get a jumpstart on the controls because the manual is quite poor. It's going to work quite well for me, Taylor into a Fishman Loudbox mini.
It was a game changer to find out those three small LED lights were ALSO function buttons. Good Demo.
Thanks for the information..Clear audio, nice pics, well edited too.
Best review of this that ive found. Clear logical and exhaustive. Thanks
I snuck up on stage to see what pedals you were using that night....I was pretty amazed to find the A3 all on its own....the sound was amazing...I thought you must have had a whole pedal board up there!! Nice...
Great pedal indeed, demonstrated it for Bax shop a few months ago
Really useful review, thanks for taking the time to review this.
My gaud! Even 40 years ago, Brett gave the best reviews; more like instructional videos!
Great effect unit. Thanks
Great unit, handy, useful.. and a very nice review thank you man
I noticed it seems to just change eq for different models, though the guitar still sounds like a piezo amplified guitar. I thought it may give a more mic'd sound. still, a great tool to shape you acoustics' on-board pre amp to sound sweeter with comp, eq and a touch of reverb which is all I want anyway for my acoustic improvement..
Thanks a lot for referring to my video mate!
Sir between the a3 and ac2 who has the edge? Planning to have one
So this is basically like the Fishman Aura spectrum? As a big fan of impulse response on acoustic, why haven't I heard of this before today??
Great review. I've been using with Weissenborn, Steel & nylon strung guitars. Played some big venues with sound folks loving it. A little fiddly at times but VERY robust and minimises set up times. Excellent piece of kit.
Y estoy buscando una Takamini de 12 cuerda si tenés algún contacto asmelo saberlo
Nice.... Which acoustic guitar & model has been used for this demo ?
Thank you for the review. Can we use voice microphone and guitar both at the same time with same effects ? With different effects ?
Thanks for the review!
Pretty stuffed, with everything, that you need in acoustic multi-effect. I have a 12-string acoustic guitar, with a piezo, but without a preamp. Just looking for a multi-effect for it.
Excellent review, thank you. I think I want one.

. I cannot get the menus that the guy in the video gets. I can only scroll through the 'body types' and that's it. What am I doing wrong?
Breadalbaneman A bit late I know, but did you press the actual effect light above the main footswitch? This is also a switch that took some finding.
Dang this was 7 yrs ago! Wondering if you have moved on from it to somthing else??
can you add effects exclusively to vocals or whatever is coming from the mic? and can you turn that on and off with a switch or something?
can this be used with acoustic bass guitar too for tone fx use
I see it's got 12 string up at the top. Will is simulate the 12 string sound or is it more so meant to bring out the sound when playing an actual 12 string?
I just got mine. I have a Taylor 224ce Koa. The 12 string setting sounds nothing like a 12 string. I think it's there if you are playing a 12 string. Brett, it this correct?
Hello Brett, I am an amateur hobbyist, and I have had this for a while. I am wondering if you can share your settings because I really loved the way how you made it sound.
Same here. I just got mine a couple days ago and am experimenting. Would love to see the effects settings you created.
Hey Brett. What acoustic pickup is in your OM28E?
Can i connect it directly to a PA system? Because i dont want to buy an acoustic amplifier
Is this gadget available alreaady in the Phils? if so what distributor/dealer and how much is the price?
2020 now, is this worth getting? Especially when playing live? I’m also looking at iRig acoustic stage.
I'm not sure if many people realise but I use the A3 as my main mixer for all my gigs. As a soloist I just take along my QSC Series powered speaker and the A3 does the rest.
would have been handy to know how the boost is ajusted
It's amazing demo! Sounds great! Brett, it can be used in a eletric guitar, with the magnetic pickup selected on pedal?
brother please tell loop pedal justl like wise i records one stummming then press button and simaltaneously i record second melody
Thanks for ur sharing, It's good to heip : )
Does it have Octaver?
Latency issues?
Super. Vielen Dank! Verstehe leider diverse Funkionen noch nicht. BG Mio >> Nachtrag. Ist ein topp Teil!
Great. Many Thanks! Unfortunately do not understand various functions yet. BG Mio
Hi, excuseme, does it includes an octaver effect?
is it used for guitar electric?? answer please
i mean, technically yes. Just wont deliver what you want for an electric.....
I'm guessing this is useful for adding low end to piezo equipped guitars. You have to wonder why they decided to put piezo pickup in the bridge of most acoustic electrics where the strings are the brightest...
cause you need a good pressure to make the crystals in the piezo pickups to reproduce the sound with good quality
How did you record the guitar for this video? Did you put a microphone near the amp or did you record the guitar directly to the computer?
Straight to the computer; that way it's similar to what you'd hear through a PA.
Thank you very much! Last question: How did you combine the effects or store them on the memory?
Another great one. Thanks for the video
How do you use it on an upright bass?
saben si este artículo contiene un armonizador de sonido. es decir si al tocar una nota puede producirse hace otra mas puede ser una tercera una sexta u octava, ???
is the anti feedback stop the feedback automatically when the switch on or we must tweak the knob first?
I just got my unit and can't tell if this feature is really working. Pressing the switch seems to do nothing. When I view the frequency display, they are greyed out and just "-----" for the frequencies. How can I tell this feature is really working?
Just got one! WooHoO
Its a compressor too?
hi sir i have a question ..do you save and created that 4 programs? in that box or you uploaded in computer
They are saved to the device. At the time of writing there is no official editor for PC.
oh i see ..thanks..and thats a great demo too!
What kind of Amp are you using ? How can I use it with my electric guitar amp ?
I think he's going straight into his recording interface. An electric guitar amp isn't ideal as they don't reproduce the whole frequency range, if your amp has an effects loop, then I'd suggest going into the effects return. Ideally you'd go into a PA or acoustic amp.

Does anybody still recommend this gear today in 2021?
Still use mine for all acoustic work, havent felt the need to go looking for a replacement.
Does anyone know if the boost switch works on the mic input?
Hi Brett what effects and settings do you use in the ''Compcavern'' preset?
Im not sure I've ever heard a trem effect on an acoustic. Interesting.
Does anyone know if this pedal features any Taylor models? I counted about 6 types of Martins but I have would consider purchasing for a Taylor sound.
Why??? Have two of them and can't stand them!! LOL
Nvm I bought it anyway there was so many good sounding guitars on it. Only Taylor included was a 314 but it was blown out of the water by te D45, F55, Dove , Hummingbird, LL66 to name a few. Cant recommend the pedal enough :)
Yes, they use the model: Taylor 314!
Cheers ye, Ive been using the Gibson models on it mostly
Late to the party I guess, but after watching this vid several times, I bought a used one (they are discontinued now). Your vid was very helpful to get a jumpstart on the controls because the manual is quite poor. It's going to work quite well for me, Taylor into a Fishman Loudbox mini.
But still available.
Bonjour si tu peux me faire une vidéo explicative de zoom A3 comment s'en servir en français merci à toi
saw xlr mic in , is there phantom power?
doesnt look like it, plus i think this pedal is for performances, so I think it's meant mainly for dynamic mics
yes it has phantom power 24v and 48v
Sorry David, for the late reply. Yes, phantom for the mic, 24 or 48V.
minstrel123 24V? got to say I've not come across a need for 24V... a downunder thing?
+David Gennaro Some ribbon mic's use 24v
does it suck tone/signal?
It is also a di?
yes
2019? Someone using.?or ac3
This is great but I think it will be extremely expensive
200 bucks only 100 more then a single effects for all your getting its a great price
Extremely cheap. Top notch
i have one of these id like to sell
how much? message me.
Price please
ZOOM A3
