- The ECHO's Liverpool Crown Court reporter Neil Docking and content editor Gary Stewart are joined by Detective Chief Inspector Mark Baker of Merseyside Police to discuss how "The Iceman" assassin Mark Fellows was brought to justice for the murder of "gangland enforcer" John Kinsella and Salford's 'Mr Big' Paul Massey. Top of the agenda is how officers investigated the brutal shootings, the vital clues they pieced together to form the overwhelming case against the hitman and his accomplice Steven Boyle, the moment both men were undone by Boyle "grassing" on his partner in crime and the reaction to their life sentences.
What a very impressive investigation and DCI Mark Baker himself .
Congratulations to Merseyside and Greater Manchester Police for excellent detective work. As a former Prison Officer at Belmarsh, I remember Paul Massey as a prisoner on the High Security Unit circa 1999-2001. Whatever else he may have been, I remember him as a polite, engaging and pleasant man to deal with on a daily basis. During my time on the Unit I was Sports and Games Officer on top of my normal duties and spent many mornings in the Unit gym training with Paul (among others) and playing soft ball tennis with him on the exercise yard. I was very sad to learn of his death and the manner in which he was killed and feel for his family. I hope they manage to rebuild their lives now his killer is behind bars for life. RIP Paul.

And anyone who’s had a few successful hits, can keep their mouth shut, and can use a gun, can end up doing hits for the mob.
Seen any of the ex mob-boss interviews on TH-cam? They talk about that stuff often. Keeping hitmen outside the family, some even talk about Richard and his reputation within the mob.
I guess we will never know for sure. Plenty of people have come forward saying before his death, Michael Jackson touched them, or heard weird stuff, saw weird stuff, yet he had all charges dropped and still has millions of people that believe him.

When Boyle spilled it in court the rug was pulled from under Fellows feet, his world was completely turned inside out and freedom must have seemed a lifetime away. Freedom which we now know will never be his again. Certainly not in this lifetime.
