Need to see an interview from someone from the Royal marines mountain and arctic warfare cadre otherwise called an ML Mountain leader. Not only is the longest special forces training in the Uk. It’s has the hardest requirements to join. Commando/para nco. Msi and mst. Takes about 8 years to be eligible to even apply. Now that would worth listening to.
I'm friends with a guy from Iraq who is now residing in Australia. He still has friends and family in Iraq, and he is very clear in saying that they all preferred their life under the regime of Sadam. The Iraq war was an illegal war based upon lies as their were no WMD's.
75% of deaths were civilians. This war was clearly about resources (Oil). I am ex military, and I have the right to say Tony Blair is a war criminal.
All very true!
Very true
Not only resources, the war was on behalf of Israel , Sadam was backing the Palestinians. He was a thorn in the side of the Israelis
Agreed
@@pedropedro58ermakes me laugh lol do we think isis would have hotten a foothold with sadam in power? Hell no lol whole things fucked up and i feel for the poor people on the receiving end of the “freedom”
What a smashing fella.....thank god we have these men "Good Men" on our side..Cheers Me Woodall
Excellent podcast! I met Paul back in my school and turns out he was going out with/married to my favourite teacher at school! Top bloke and everyone still talks about his speeches to this day.
Brilliant guest Dodge, fascinating guy and an excellent storyteller. Definitely in the top 10 for me
this was a great podcast, Paul seems like a totally stand up, genuine and honest guy. all the best to him, great show.
I learnt to read and write Arabic whist in Lebanon. Years later I was on holiday in Tunisia and caused chaos every time I spoke accentess Arabic plus on one occasion wrote my name and wife’s name in Arabic. Lovely, hospital people. Lovely memories
If a Spy tells you he's a Spy, then he's not a Spy !
British intelligence corps
If he's on a podcast too...I'm guessing he's no longer doing it, lol

Hey Dodge, absolutely brilliant episode, what a great speaker, double engaging. You quite literally got the best out of him. Fab channel mate. We should talk cos you definitely need to be on mainstream TV. The new Parky 😄
Nice one Rupert and appreciate the message. Let’s have a chat!
Good man 👍🏼👍🏼
Dodge@EventfulGroup.co
I was a sergeant at Camden on 7:7 and attended the Tavistock Sq bus bomb. Hearing him chatting about that event is sending shivers down my back, I still suffer from bad dreams.
A friend of mine had been in Gulf War 1 (1991) and he was literally standing around the corner from the bus supervising a street duties course of brand new probationary Constables.
There is a no right turn at the junction and we would get the new officers to issue tickets to introduce them into talking to the public and confrontational encounters, people really don’t like tickets plus we would catch a lot of criminals that way because it’s anti social and crime is anti social.
Anyway my colleague had been at the road if death as the Iraqi army had fled Kuwait and had been destroyed. He had been in the Engineers and it had deeply affected him. So when the bomb went off you can imagine how distressing it was.
It went off outside the BMA building which is a white fronted building and they were holding a trauma Doctor conference luckily.
I remember just standing looking at it thinking ‘what the fuck do I do’
I subsequently worked with a guy who got a very high commendation for his work saving people. He was a cop and was literally walking by as it went boom.
Not really much to do with the guest but I get it off my chest.
Funnily enough I went to a similar thing in the Strand in about 1990 when an IRA bomber accidentally set off his bomb killing himself.
I went to loads of stuff over the years from the Marchioness to the mortar attack in Downing Street in 1991.
We need you back mate camden has gone down the toilet 😂
A very good friend of mine was on the opposite side of Bloomsbury Sq when the bus bomb went off, had to leave his van there and walk back to depot in Bloomsbury in a complete daze.
Don't care what anyone says dodge is number 1 podcaster I live near pontypridd I'm from pontlottyn I know that accent a mile away my uncle and grandad was miners everyone in wales has miners in family or lived by one tough staunch men
Has this guy been given the super soldier serum?! He looks like he’s in his mid to late twenties, at most!
Really interesting interview could listen to Paul all day!
Would love a part 2 about how the mind works, adhd etc
Dodge, You keep leaning the mic stand for your guests on the table. Every time they put their hand on the table we get a 'thump' in the headset. Not criticising your great content, just giving useful feed back for your production. Keep up the good content. Cheers pal X
Nice one Robbie for the heads up and I’ve just passed that onto my producer.
Good man 👌🏼
Brilliant story Paul could listen to it all day long very interesting 👌 well done Dodge 👏👏🏴🇬🇧

Awesome EPISODE Dodge love the military guests
48:00, literaly just pissed myself laughing 😂
My mate Sgt. Mick Nelson went to Beaconsfield in 1990-92 to do a Russian language course. We had both done German to a high level serving At Osnabrueck with The Royal Engineers. After that Mick went to Berlin where he served from 1992-95, so he must have been working with Paul Hughes. His main job was overseeing the Russian withdrawal from East Germany and it certainly helped speaking both German and Russian to a high standard, especially as he was working in the field rather than doing an office job.
Best pod caster out there without doubt mate always good yarns cant wait for next one good work ❤❤❤
Thanks 😊
Such a great story teller loved it.
TIL James Bond is actually Welsh.
Absolutely fascinating! Had me hooked from the off!
Same - top 5 episode for me 👌

Probably the best listen yet on your podcast Dodge! EPIC work. What a fucking incredible life Hughesy has led and is still living! Nic, AUSTRALIA
Fair play Paul proving not all us Welsh lads ain’t backwards 😂. Brilliant as always Dodge
I can’t say much for obvious reasons; but one of the well know London terror attacks; without being too specific…I’d sold a LEGAL product to a guy who I remembered because I learned a decent amount (as a decent sales guy at the time) and when I saw the news they outlined his steps and I realised that he’d gone to visit the place where my customer had said, he had the same relationship with his family (living situation etc) and specifically he’d bought a birthday gift which was the exact thing I’d sold him. I didn’t want to be one of those people who inserts themselves unnecessarily…but I was 70/80% sure it was him and crucially there was another guy with him. So in the end I thought it’s better to be safe than sorry. I asked an armed police officer in London and he said yeah here’s the number to call, don’t worry… it’s not an issue if you’re wrong and as it’s on your workplace CCTV it’ll be easy to work out and useful if correct. So I’m at work a few days later and my manager tells me with a concerned look on their face that the Anti-Terror police division are here to talk. I showed him exactly where I was sat and what I recalled. They went and watched the CCTV (without anybody else being allowed in there) and all I know is they said, thank you, here’s my personal work number and they did take the CCTV footage. It’s a big company by the way and they didn’t give that stuff out easily I can assure you. To this day I really want to know A) If I was correct and was helpful and B) Did I shake the hand of a dirty terrorist and again, if so was it important that I identified another person with him. It might sound silly but it’s such a big thing to never have any answer about.
Great interview Dodge
Superb. What a guy.
If you ever had follow up podcasts maybe we could have some questions for the guests ? Just an idea Dodge.
Very good pod. Thank you, Dodge 🙏🏻
The dog story made me lol another quality pod Dodge 🙏
Enjoyed this chat. No bullshit built up war stories like others turn to when leaving the forces
Really liked this guys humour and experience
The idea of having a rendevous point with ones family is a great idea, it doesnt have to be just children, its a good idea and definitely practical. Thank you for bringing it up ❤
Iam just up the road from ponty 🏴another great podcast 🙌
I played pool with this lad in oman in 2004...... in seeb.... he was a good lad.
Brilliant - very insightful!
Absolute class this one!

Really enjoyed this. Great work.
Enjoyed this, inspiring
Interesting podcast, I was in Iraq as part of the weapons inspection teams when the Chilean airforce took over the helicopter transporting from the Germans, I watched a fight between the two Chilean pilots midair due to an oil light coming on, they took the bulb out and took us back to Baghdad, we refused to fly with them after that, we would leave the hotel in the early hours rather than fly with them again.
Brilliant interveiw....keep erm coming doge ...Great video ❤
Great Interview Dodge, 😊
Class listen. So insightful.
Loved this Dodge, very interesting. Thankyou once again.
Great interview, enjoying it thoroughly 👊👍

Brilliant podcast, many thanks to you both.

Wow I've been told I have ad HD or autism once I focus on something I'm balls deep I gotta get tested glad you talking about it I'm getting tested sod it
Crazy to think that i was brought up in RAF st athan as a kid and also went to the same school as this guy at bryn celynnog. I went on to be a truck driver though, not a spy 😂
So you say … We’re watching you.
He didn't mention the west gave Sadam the know how and materials to make chemical weapons because we were backing him in his war against Iran
i think the chemical plant was built in Iraq by the Yanks, we supplied the armaments manufacturing plant which was built in Iraq... the old bailey springs to mind and the government coverup ...(the "Matrix Churchill" trial)
Great one Dodge, Paul's links would have been helpful mate.
the man in a cave🙈 .. . unreal what people believe ... 😂✨💚👍
He’s naming legit places and his stories add up, he comes across as a very good linguist / Int analyst so for those that are questioning if he’s a spy or not !! Who knows but I guess that’s the spy business is all about.
What a great recruiting chap 😊
The English Electric Lightning was a rocket with a seat bolted on
Brilliant
Was hucked from start great podcast wot a story 👏
Nice guy. Very easy to listen to. He said we have best security.. . I'm not sure. We have thousands of illegals and I seriously don't think they know who is in our country. Look at the chemical attack guy... its a worry. We do not feel safe. Great interview Dodge 👍
Millions unaccounted for.
Nice one Dodger..."What's an adverb?" lol 😄😄👍👍
brilliant! 🙃
Rhondda boy 😊❤
Wonder if anyone has asked him to go into gaza to get rid of hamas and try and spot the bad apples would be interesting
Loving the hoody Dodge 👌
British spy hunted bin laden & saddam but the U.S Delta Force got Saddam in his rat hole by following/finding the guy who cooked and had his favorite fish stock piled that is all he ate and U.S Devgru team took out Bin Laden in Pakistan after the cia tracked his currier etc
Remember they knew bin laden was living in Pakistan. With the knowledge of Pakistan intelligence. In comfort beside large army base !! It’s a nice story that he hid for 10 yrs and suddenly they found him and Obama sends in seal team6 to capture and kill him.
Then shortly after wards that seal 6 gets killed in Afghan when there helo is shot down. Mysteriously.
OBL was never there he died in 2006 in tora bora it was usa face saving from 🇦🇫defeat after 20 years they killed his sibling same DNA he had 52 brother and sister another flop story just like WDMs never found
Pretty amazing and interesting Podcast
i understand doge saying he doesnt feel overly safe in london.......i grew up around london and not a melt but whenver i take my fiancé anywhere in central late at night i get some level of anxiety
What a guy what a story!!!
Was no WMD'S
Met police can’t even stop knife crimes and drugs and stabbing 😅in London
How old is Paul? Joined the military in 89 but looks about 40?
Think yourself lucky kgb made Gorbachev tattoo the map of United Nations on his head in the hope he would remember it .🕵♂️
The whole of the Western world is looking for Bin Laden, yet two CNN journalists found him in a cave & interviewed him.
Let that sink in.
Great interview though.
His Russian is bang on
Haha live half an hour away from ponty, porthcawl if any of u know. Wicked
so you didn't sign the officials secrets act then ?
Old Saddam got nabbed by C Sqn, CAG at a place called Al-Dawr 23 December 03 mate.
The job was called Red Dawn Task Force 121.
Paul’s solid gold. A great interview excellent description of Jihad. I’ve never thought of it that way.
Cheers Dodge
Hi Dodge, another fantastic podcast, what a great man, Well done again
Dodge is being recruited!😂
Love your podcast mate and I think your facebook page has been hacked
The question asked was ‘Why were you there?’
The answer was a none answer because he doesn’t know. No one knows.
The Americans were looking for a reason to invade and they concocted one.
A complete and utter waste of time and lives. Is it any better? Not at all except the Americans had a new war to keep the arms industry profitable
6:06 Who are these trashy people doing that? It was weird with me. I’d get picked on but even as a kid I’d figured out that getting the most intimidating/dangerous people to have respect for me was helpful. I never actually got hit once…It’s funny, a bully who I’d gotten to respect me saw me with a nosebleed and him and some other bullies (didn’t bully me personally but did bully others…they weren’t friends…it was just getting the respect and leaving it there) gathered around and were like “right, who’s hit you?! Who’s done it? We’ll get em!” The trick is to make them think that actually, by protecting me…that makes them the ‘top dogs’ because it allows them to feel control…not over me, but over my protection. They get to feel tough and I get protection. I do some Information Security now so clearly social engineering was something I liked without knowing it. Personally I feel like it’s a pretty good way to stop bullying without anyone getting hurt and everyone wins in reality.
Why wouldn't a 6ft human be able to stand up straight on the top deck of a bus?
I'm roughly his age and went on a 24 mile round trip to school everyday as a teenager and I'm only 6ft now and had to stoop walking down the top deck of the bus when I was 13.
