Thanks so much for joining me throughout these videos! I'm curious to hear your thoughts about the format of this series-would you like to see more historical games broken down line-by-line? If so, which ones?
I suppose what’s left is Rdr1 and Rdr2 online with its history of events and references ? Online probably has much less to deep dive but some missions there did have call backs to historic events such as Ned Kelly and his metal armour
The effort you pour into these videos does not go unnoticed my friend, thank you for the absolutely quality content as always, you never disappoint, hell not even slightly.
@@RealPixelsdamn, I'd never even considered it until seeing this, but you and pinky on a collab could drop the best red dead video on the whole damn site.
I've literally found your channel 2 days ago, just finished the end of the playlist and a new vid is uploaded, sweet. Love your videos man, scratches my history nerd and gaming nerd itches simultaneously
@@L_Train yeah sure I meant that I found it 2 days ago. Check the dictionary, literally doesn't always literally mean it's original meaning anymore. Sorry if my use upset you bruv
@@sgufanboy I wouldn't sweat it. Language evolves, just like always has, and just like all the times words meanings have shifted over time, some folks just can't stand seeing it happen.
I think the Totalisaurus is based on the fact that Cope and Marsh were rushing and carelessly putting fossil displays together, example being the heads would end up in the tails thinking it was the neck.
patreon.com/RealPixels 👀 In all seriousness, it's definitely something on my mind! This series has so much historical goodness, it's difficult to decide where to go next.
This series has been nothing short of fantastic. I love the format of these videos, and you do an amazing job of making it engaging. You never fail to impress me with your knowledge and research. Thanks for giving us this amazing series!
Chronologically, you've got to do RDR1, yeah? ;) This has been a fantastic series, I hope you do many more! The Ezio Assassin's Creed games in particular might be worth exploring, as they cover a range of Mediterranean culture from Italy to Constantinople, and feature numerous historical figures, locations and events. And as a one-off classic, how about Oregon Trail? I've always wanted to know more about bullets, river crossings, and death by dysentery!
I just got trigger finger from my awful dishwashing job, and I needed inspiration to push myself through the pain to keep writing and creating. Thankfully, your videos on rdr2 are just the fuel to get my history buff brain reactivate and push through. What was gonna be a boring, mopey day is now a day of creativity and learning. Thanks a bunch Real Pixels.
I really hope you cover Disco Elysium at some point in the future, it has such a deep reservoir of historical connections to our own world in ways you don't often see presented.
These videos are so good, I just hope you enjoy making the videos and looking into history as well as red dead 2 itself and aren’t making them because you feel you’re forced to. Your insights could be great in many different fields im sure.
Would be really cool if you did a rdr2 play through. I know your a video essay channel but a lot of play throughs don’t explore all of the small details that you find in your videos. Could even have it as a commentated-over series as opposed to live commentary
Probably about as accurate as science was in 1899, I'd imagine It would be funny if they "confirmed" an old ridiculous medical theory from that time in game, like when the hot air baloon pilot talks about "vapors"
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the best game I've ever played. I doubt that I will experience this kick again from another game. I was a fan of westerns ever since I was a kid, so it was a perfect match. And still, with your videos, you manage to make my enjoyment of RDR2 even bigger! I tip my Nevada hat to you, sir!
So sad to see this journey come to an end! These videos are so well crafted and spectacular in their detail! Truly incredible work! Can't wait to see what other games you tackle next!
Hey Pixel, have you considered doing a video on the fashions of the time? You've already mentioned the belts but I'd love to see the outfits in-game analysed. And how the hell does Arthur and John put so much crap in their bags!
Thank you for this incredible series & all the research you've put into it. RDR & RDR2 are some of my favourite games BECAUSE of their close attention to historic detail (not always, but at least 90% lol). it was a pleasure to be able to experience the time in the game but also a pleasure to see someone notice the things i did & put them into video form with other interesting tidbits! Like I knew Dragic was meant to be a dopple for Tesla but I had no idea about Tesla's familial name! Again, great job & i look forward to other videos from you!
If anybody is interested in the electric chair and other execution methods in America I suggest looking up Jacob Geller’s video on the topic. He also made a great video partially about RDR2 called “Artificial Loneliness”
It's so cool that even when the game is inaccurate, you provide reasons why that may be and the real history in its place. Thank you for these videos and for your hard research!
Off the top of my head: The accuracy of the railroads, the coming development of antibiotics and how deadly TB was, the invention of the telephone and motorcar are also covered in the game
One thing about leadership is don’t make empty threats or punishments. If you do then those you are leading or looking over will not take you seriously or will rebel.
I could see Chatenay using "doodle" to refer to a little time waster rather than a quick scrawl (im sure the writers meant it as meaning a quick scrawl)
I think something to note is that the early paleontologists were not hacks, they just didn't have as many specimens as been discovered today. Great video though!
Glad to see that this format will continue into other games. You could always milk that rooten tooten cowboy shooten money for all it's worth and do RDR1. As a few other have suggested LA Noir would also be fantastic. The Mafia series would also be a good place to go.
I wish you had mentioned that Dragic's robot is seemingly conscious and is seen regretting killing his creator, obviously it's just fantasy because we can't create sentient robots even today, but it's worth a mention. Also Dragic has a note stating his plans of building a robot army and conquering the world, a parody of all the works of fiction depicting Tesla as a maniac using super weapons for world domination.
Imagine doing this for GTA 5 lmao "LifeInvader is likely based on the social media platform Facebook, which rose to popularity sometime in the late 2000s to early-2010s, around the same time as the game takes place. Jay Norris seems to be an amalgamation of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg, and Apple founder Steve Jobs. Facebook also had controversy around data-sharing"
I'm pretty sure the professor also mentions that he needs the moonshine because the electric chair requires methanol. Moonshine should be ethanol, not methanol. In fact, methanol is the thing that can cause you to go blind if it was distilled improperly. Maybe the "professor" didn't have the qualifications we thought he had.
Releasing a red dead video the same day Nakey Jakey releases a red dead video? Idk what you were thinking rockstar fanboy, but someone has to take an L, and you can’t spell yoga ball without 2 L’s.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts about the format of this series-would you like to see more historical games broken down line-by-line? If so, which ones?
This series was beyond fantastic. You’ve done such justice this franchise.
This is one of the best series on TH-cam.
the historical analogies of Disco Elysium would be a great series.
What about games like Call of Duty: WW2? It would be interesting to see how historically accurate that game is!
The format is, in my opinion, amazing. I do think this would fit any game that takes a historical setting.
in the Art Gallery you can also find a photo of Arthur from the first interaction with Albert Mason.
Mason's entire set of photos are displayed, but I'm pretty sure they only show up if you've finished his quest line by then.
I'm so glad you didn't end this series yet!
I suppose what’s left is Rdr1 and Rdr2 online with its history of events and references ?
Online probably has much less to deep dive but some missions there did have call backs to historic events such as Ned Kelly and his metal armour
He could do another series on Red Dead Revolver and Gun, 2 lesser known westerns by Rockstar.
@user-bm6xz6pq5z Gun was made by Neversoft and produced by Activision, no Rockstar involvement
This series makes me feel so much less alone as an "I wonder where that comes from?" rabbit hole hyperfixater. Thank you for your service.
Do this same series for the first Red Dead Redemption!
I second this.
Yes please that would be awesome!
Yesss

Straight to the point, incredibly informative and extremely interesting, all on my favorite game.
As an American, i thought "hottentot" was the name of a noble family in germany or something, not a slur
I could see Chatenay using "doodle" to refer to a little time waster rather than a quick scrawl (im sure the writers meant it as meaning a quick scrawl)

How historically accurate is drinking/alcohol next

Could someone tell me, the soundtrack used at the end?
Not part of any official soundtrack release, but it's called "Eagle Soar"!
Thank you very much.
Keep doing what you are doing, it's amazing!!
How do you get the Hat from the Thumbnail?
It's the reward for Algernon's mission, "Duchesses and Other Animals"! Possibly the most exhausting side mission in the whole game.
Shoutout to czechia for inventing pink porcelain 😅
I really enjoyed your video and hope that you'll do the same for the mafia games.
