It's crazy how you've been pumping out these really long and well structured videos that are by far the most informative piece of content on one of the biggest games of all time, from the biggest video game publishers of all time. Yet you haven't gotten much recognision for your work, atleast not in the last 2 years. This is one of the best series' you'll find on youtube, truly a hidden gem.
I like that you criticized the depiction of the Klan in the game. It's good to remind people that it was largely just one of many decentralized revolutionary Southron groups (Redeemers, Redshirts, White League) during those times, and not as popular as the 2nd iteration of it. There's also more background to their inspiration from the Scots of burning crosses, because the original founders of the Klan were all Scots-Irish stock, so it was a sinister call-back for those roots.
What an RDR2 video released today that’s not just lazy AI voice TH-cam shorts? Been too long since I saw one of these videos, only like last week binged the playlist again (twice) Shame that this one is shorter tho, but maybe RDO and RDR1 will be covered like this too? Idk, cheers mate, thanks for something to watch while eating
I just finished watching the rest of the historically accurate series yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see that this was uploaded earlier today. 😁
I'd love to see the reading list of sources. You have no clue how greay this series is for me and my personal readings. The primary sources you show are excellent too, if I may add, though some links to Primary and Secondary sources would go a long way. I know you're not a history teacher or like CynicalHisotrian, and citing books wiuld be a pain. Either way, love the videos and would love reading lists. Keep up the videos, I think we all love them. Im done glazing now.
Thanks for the suggestion! I've considered listing full books in the credits but it would be a bit awkward to format so I just list publishers instead. I've recently been thinking of setting up lists of relevant books for each video though, maybe on Goodreads-I'll look into it soon!
As always: Very interesting and well made. It would be very interesting to see a video on how historically accurate architecture, industry, buildings and infrastructure is as well. There is alot of detail in the world regarding such things!
Amazing video, but actually clicked on the video because i thought it was all about KKK. I think you should change the title to something like: how historicaly accurate is RDR2? Despite that, this is an amazing video.
just wondering whether a "how historically accurate are horses in rdr2" would be worth making a video...like the tack they wore and the breeds we see in the game and whether they existed at the time or were in the US. but rockstar probably got that all accurate and idk if the video would be very short or just boring, thought id mention it anyway cause i feel like it could be cool or even just the animals in general - i assume every wild animal is actually native to the area but there are a few dog breeds to look at too, idk
i’m pretty sure that western saddles have not been changed in decades (as someone who occasionally rides horses) i’m not sure, but horse back riding is a very old sport that people hang onto to keep traditional but looking into dog breeds would be interesting!
You can't just leave Abraham Lincoln's duel as a bullet point! Lincoln was challenged by James Shield to a duel, but as the person who was challenged Lincoln had the right to choose the weapon. Broadswords were not a common weapon at the time, at all, but Lincoln apparently had a set on hand and he chose them, rather than pistols or any other selection of sword, why? Lincoln, as many may know, was a large man, tall in stature and very fit. Shield had some balls already to challenge him, but he must have expected Lincoln to choose pistols in which case their physiques would not have mattered. But Lincoln chose the heaviest weapon available, walked over to a tree as shown in the illustration at 1:33 then chopped off a branch with one swing. Without any blood needing to be drawn or words being said Abraham Lincoln said to James Shield: "You don't want this fight." Then James promptly rescinded his challenge. It's one of my favourite stories from the time, Lincoln embodied the statement 'speak softly and carry a big stick.'
