Thanks for sharing. FYI, the RadioMaster R88v2 receiver is only compatible with protocol FrSky X mode. I have an original FrSky X8R receiver which was flashed with the lastest FrSky v2.1.1 firmware can only be binded using protocol FrSky X2 mode. To have 32 channels, you can use 2 R88v2/X8R receiver and 2 SBUS->PWM converter. We can buy 16-CH sbus->PWM converter. such as R81 + SBUS->PWM converter
There are a number of ways to get all 32 channels, I just demonstrated one simple method. sbus to PWM converters cost extra more than the cheap R88 receivers but certainly an option that opens up many receiver options, including ELRS receivers. R88v2 can also work with the FrSky D protocol or the Futaba SFHSS protocols but you can't get all 32 channels with all protocols.

Using Spektrum receivers you could only connect to a maximum of 2 receivers, one on the internal 4in1 RF module, and one receiver on an external 4in1 RF module. Using something like a couple AR631, AR637T, AR8020T you could use the combined 12-16 servo channels plus these RX's have multiple "virtual channels" you could use for non servo things like Safe gyro flight modes, panic mode, gyro gain channels, reverse thrust (if you had an Avian ESC), etc. Using a couple receivers such as the AR14400T which is a 14 channel RX, you could have a total of 28 servo channels. With a Spektrum AR20400T, which has 20 channels, you could only use 16 of them on each receiver so that should allow you to max out the transmitter but you'd have unusable channels on the AR20400T. Cost is a major factor. Using these Radiomaster R88 V2 receivers, all 4 cost less than one Spektrum AR631 receiver but you do get extra features with the Spektrum receivers.
@@StreetFighterStudio I have no experience with that receiver specifically but I believe it is DSMX compatible so I assume it would work. You don't have to use the same receivers on each RF module. You could have the AR7200 on one of the RF modules, and an AR631 on the other, for example. They each bind separately just like you are on two different radios.
Yes, I've experimented a bit with SBus but when searching for an SBus to PWM converter they weren't that cheap and adds some complexity, more devices and connections, etc. These R88's, for example, are only $11 each. Assuming you want to use all these channels for servos in the end, hard to beat the low cost and simplicity of the method in my video. If using a flight controller and don't need all servos then there are a number of options.
I just got a ER8 receiver. How do i bind the receiver to the tx16s? But first does this receiver needs any updaiting software like the radio when buying it?
Did you get the ELRS version of the TX16S? I'm using the 4in1 in my video but you'll need the ELRS version to bind to that receiver. I can't say if it needs updating, you need to be sure both the TX and RX are on the same major firmware version. Here's a recent video by Painless360 on binding with ELRS. th-cam.com/video/jkjlk-ahcto/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wTZXsHZA_qZ4g79A
@shanesdiy i bought the 4 in 1. It was on CRSF internal RF, now its on multi. I someome else said i womt be able too without the elrs module. I guess ill just return it & get flysky or spektrum reciever. Im bought a su34 with thrust vector. I got all the mixes done to get the nozzles to move with elev, rud, ail. But idk how to get the thrust vector to turn off with a switch LOL. *I ended up binding a flysky 8ch receiver instead*
I tried this method with two R88 receivers looking for the 16 channels internal module in my carbon cub, but every time the second received become a clone of the first one. instead of adding the other 8 channels, seems to repeat the channels of the first receiver. Any idea why this happens?
@@juliocavazos2791 you sure you followed the bind process exactly as I did here? During binding, you select if the receiver is configured for channels 1-8 or 9-16. Also make sure the channel range for the RF module is 1-16 and not 1-8 or that is all the channels you'll get.
@ hello! Yes, I did exactly the same,, I’m thinking if the issue is the edge tx and you may have open tx or I need to update my firmware , and my last test that I will try today is to change the second receiver for a new one for a more recent v2. After binding do I need to do something to add the other additional channels on the inputs/outputs section maybe? Because I see only the initial 8 there,. thanks
@@juliocavazos2791 I'm on EdgeTX. If your receivers aren't V2's that might be it. All mine are V2's. @@shanesdiy I forgot to mention that I was able to resolve the issue about a week and a half ago,, the problem was that the firmware of my module was not up to day.. just corrected that and worked.. thank you…
With any protocol you can bind one receiver on the internal RF and one on the External RF. They don't even have to be the same protocol. If you use higher channel count receivers (to a max of 16) you can max out the channels with just two receivers. If the receiver has more than 16 channels, you won't be able to access those higher channels. The unique thing about FrSky X D16 protocol is you can bind up to two receivers per module since it lets you select channels 1-8 or 9-16 when you bind.
It looks like this is possible for ELRS too, but it’s currently only working for two receivers. You’d need two 16ch receivers and I think the biggest are 14ch right now.
With the R88 V2 I could only get 15 channels to respond over SBus but I know other receivers, including some/all of the ELRS receivers with SBus output can do 16 channels. But then to run servos, you'd have to get an sbus to PWM converter, arduino, etc. This method with the R88's was pretty simple and easy to do.
@@shanesdiy arduino.would ned 1 per plane for eg.or swap one but then it be configured diferently.i never used 1 nearly got into them before gettin ill.
@@thembijan you can bind to many receivers simultaneously but not sure how you would separate the channels on more than 2 of this receiver type, plus that maxes out the 16 channels per RF module. Using ELRS receivers that let you remap channels in the receiver you could get creative. Still have the 16 channel limit per RF module.
