Just did the Galveston race While it is completely flat the wind can be all over the place but I found it doable for my first. I live in a similar environment - flat, hot, humid so the training in winter is not so much an issue 99%of the time. The run can feel quite congested at times but the support on the course was great at least in my opinion.

I’ve only done one 70.3, IMNC and to me it was a very good first race. In coming tide made for a very fast swim, flat bike & I think the run was more flat than rolling to me. Was a split transition, but that wasn’t as bad as my mind made it out to be.

Augusta 70.3 without question is THE best. As long as you’ve done some heat training and know how to adjust hydration with temps and humidity you will PR; guaranteed. River swim usually decent current, 30 minute range very typical even for weak swimmers. 50/50 wetsuit legal but very doable without. Bike is fair, good topography with mostly rollers and only 3 decent climbs (very manageable). Run is flat as can be, two loops in downtown. Shaded roughly 30% of the time on the run. Only factor is the heat and that varies (last year was 40s at race start but can be 80s). Small airport with easy access.

Haines City FL in December is cheap and easy, but it’s strangely hilly and the weather was hot and humid, water just cold enough to wear a wetsuit, but I was still warm and felt bad.

Print too small to read. Two races I recommend are Musselman and Grand Rapids, MI.
