    Great video, thank you. Keep us updated on how your steering feels as they break in.

      Hey, thank you for the comment.
      I still haven’t done a professional alignment, but the steering has loosened back up to almost the same as stock. I still have to help it a little bit to return to center, but I’m so used to it now, I don’t even notice.
      I’ll tell you that I didn’t realize how much I used to worry about my ball joints, when off-roading or smashing pot holes. I dont even think about it anymore, it’s nice.

    I just ordered. My old 03 Tacoma broke a LBJ in a parking lot with my son driving it.
    It has sat waiting on a paint job for 4 years. Finally got it painted coyote tan bedliner spray then the old 3rz reman in it was puking oil and had 2 dead cylinders. So yanked the engine balanced the bottom end down to 1g used LC Eutetic pistons and spool rods. LC clutch 35lb flywheel and underdrive crank pulley. +1mm intake & exhaust valves and LC stg 1 cams.
    It previously had an LC bored throttle body and Thorley header.
    The truck really runs good now but I don’t want my kid in a truck with potential broken ball joints at 70mph so going to throw these in.

      @@ryanlogan2911 Sounds like it will be back in action soon enough! Yes, the LUBJ conversion really does give nice peace of mind, safety wise. That’s actually originally why TC decided to design them, because of their own kids. Good luck with the rest of the build!

    Great video thanks! I have BTF lower control arms similar to your Solomon did you have to bore out the hole on your lower control arms in order for the bolt on the ball joint to fit?

    • @JHBtheIV
      @JHBtheIV  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks! They come with tapered adapters that fit around the bolt. So if the stock LBJ fits into your current lower control arms, then these will bolt right up. Just make sure you order for the correct years.

      Glad it was helpful! I'll do a follow up after running them for a while, but I can already say that TC's claim of bump steer reduction is legit. Even without an alignment, these have eliminated my bump steer probably 90%.

    Whats the maintenance? Is there like any Grease to put on...does it need to be cleaned every time you go off-road? If you do daily commute...how is the maintenance?

    • @JHBtheIV
      @JHBtheIV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I spray them clean with a hose, and soak them in PTFE spray. I do mine about once a month or whenever I wash the truck. Ive had uniball upper arms for a decade, so it was easy to add the lowers to the routine.

    Does your steering feel loose since you did that conversion I feel like it doesn’t stay centered and goes left or right I got new inner and outer tie rods and new uniballs on the uca new uca bushings , I have the total chaos lower ball joint conversion , on 315 70 17 , 17x10 -12 offset , I’m running fatbobs vated coil overs , idk what’s going on at this point ever since that conversion steering is all messed up .

    • @JHBtheIV
      @JHBtheIV  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Steering actually felt a bit stiffer, and I loss some return to center because of the uniballs being tight. That's normal. I got used to it pretty quickly, and it's getting better and better as the ULBJ get broken in. ive been cleaning and saturating the uniballs with PTFE spray at least once a week, since I was used to doing that anyway with my upper uniballs.
      Still need to get the truck aligned again. That should bring it back pretty close to how it steers on the standard LBJ.

    easy answer and he answered it:On lifted aps, probably yes. On stock for DD applications NO. As to cost you are looking at about $1200 +with gaskets, new bolts. Stock is $140-180 OEM FOB Japan which is less than retail dealer. So not 3X as much but easily 6 to 7X as stock.. Ball joints are for most vehicles a maintenance item and using a dial indicator Toyota allows .5mm of play. Personally I would consider replacing with almost any play over .1 to say .3. I have 258 K on my 4R and have less than .1mm

    • @JHBtheIV
      @JHBtheIV  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cal48koho There are no gaskets on the LBJ. Bolts come with the kit. So $1000 gets you everything you need.
      OEM LBJs are $100-$150 per side for the FG Tundras, depending on the year, plus about $12-15 for the bolts, so in the $250 range at the low end for everything. $250 x 3 is $750, so yes, 3x was a bit of an under bid, but I was just doing maths on the fly. 4x would have been closer to reality.
      Other than that I agree with you. These aren’t for everyone. But they absolutely do give a lot of peace of mind if you regularly push your suspension to its limits.
