The screen on my FJ radio shat itself last week, so I bought the Kenwood to replace. This video was perfect for a quick install - easy to follow and the new unit went in easy. I didn't have your re-pinned adapter for the speed sensor wire (which I discovered is absolutely required to use Apple CarPlay), so just soldered it into the car-side of the harness. We love the extra functionality, connectivity (particularly the Apple features), screen size and resolution of the new head unit!
Is this unit compatible with the FJ Cruiser 2023 model in the Middle East that has JBL sound system with subwoofer? I bought the car for my overseas trips and I reside in Australia. I’m happy to purchase it from you and install it myself on my next trip. I live in Brisbane.
Hi, I'm going to install a new head unit into my 2007 FJ. The unit has a usb peripheral for my android phone. The only problem is my FJ since its 2007 only has AUX. Theres no factory USB/AUX. Is there any way to install a USB/AUX? Any other recommendations? Any help would be great. Thank you
Just installed this kit into 2011 FJ Cruiser, super easy. The only slightly tricky thing was installing the DAB aerial and the lack of the OEM USB on that year's model.
Is the VSS wire similarly placed for the Prado 150 series? I am looking at the 9019 Kenwood for a Prado 150 series but finding the VSS wire is an issue.
Use the GPS to VSS we sell on our website. Note also kenwood doing an update to remove the VSS part soon so its not a 100% requirement for wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
Hey, great video… just to double check…the VSS wire is light purple ( more Lilac that purple) with white strip and it’s in the 28 pin plug for the stereo…have I got the correct?

Great video but not so great Kenwood. I have this exact model (DDX919WS) in my 2018 Prado GXL but having intermittent issues making phone calls. If I say "Hey Siri call Joe" I can see the phone call is attempted but when the person answers I can't hear them however they can hear me perfectly well. I know they have answered btw because the timer starts counting off how long the call is on the head units screen. I've taken the vehicle back to the installer who swapped out the unit for another brand new unit but still the same issue. I've used various other iPhones with still same fault. Looks like a firmware upgrade is on the cards for this unit. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced issues when making calls? Issues happen with Wireless Car Play and when my phone is plugged into USB...
I've had the exact same issue happen with my DDX9019DABS and iPhone Xs. Very frustrating! Kenwood just released a new firmware for both the DDX919WS and DDX9019DABS last Friday (24th of May) and I installed it tonight. The release notes of the new firmware don't specifically address issues with not hearing placed calls, however I made several test calls tonight and it worked perfectly every time, so perhaps the new firmware fixed it? Try installing the new firmware and see if it works for you. www2.jvckenwood.com/cs/ce/mm/firmware/2019/2019c/eng.html
Never had this issue mate at all and we sell about 30+ per week. Something is not correct either on your car or on your installation. Check to ensure you use short genuine cables for the Apple CarPlay, ensure all updates are done. Ensure the microphone is not damaged. Check the settings on your phone calls both on unit and on phone.
@@AutoChimp I didn't install it, had a reputable car radio business in Fremantle do the install for me. When I took it back to the installer last week they had the Kenwood rep out who admitted there was an issue. There must be an issue otherwise Kenwood wouldn't put out an update. Going to try the firmware update that xga303 mentioned above. Love your work, very helpful
@@SimonT65 No worries at all. Please let us know how you go. The only other change I made was turning off "Personal Hotspot" on my iPhone (not sure if this makes a difference). I'm still running iOS 12.2 and haven't upgraded to 12.3 just yet.
How about making a tutorial on how to do a car that's actually difficult instead of always doing easy cars. I'd love to see how you go fitting a 9019 to a 2010 Honda civic type r. Challenge throw down.
Not meant to cut of the tip from the vss wire it even has a label saying that. I just cleaned my house windows with a non marring pry bar and windex. Frankies putting all of australian installers out of business with bullshit pricing. The end

it's really strange to see an FJ with steering on the right
Great tutorial thanks for posting mate
Now all that's left is to see an FJ with steering wheels on both sides ( 0-0)
Agreed! It's like it was flipped upside down!

WTF! You know it's a Japanese built vehicle?
@@farrous13 Yes, but still this is the first time i seen one like this 😊.
Where is the tutorial of how to get the searing wheel on the right side? Should i do that first?
Straya mate. 😁
Steve Toms 😂😂😂👍🏻👍🏻
Man, I would love that original fj radio! Just bought my car and has the Fjammer, would like the oem with screen and gps!
Should there any power on any of the wire coming from the SWC? Thanks and good video.
Many thanks for a great video. It definitely goes onto the list of FJ accessories I will be buying.
Did you ever get it yet?
i realize Im pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good website to stream new movies online?
Can you adapt the stock reverse camera to display on the new unit?

Can you use the oem microphone that has a steering wheel control with that radio?
what is that oem radio model/part number? newer than 2014?
Does it works with the factory amplifier ?
This is so helpful. Now to decide do I prefer functionality or the meme of having the FJammer
How the hell do you find that stereo in the states? Looking everywhere and nobody has it. I'm assuming it's compatible with the US rigs?
yeah its been a year but fasmoto ships to US. Both me and my friend have gotten these radios for our toyota wide opening cars.
How big is the actual stereo itself? I know the screen size but I'm looking for the size of the whole thing
Could you please make a video how to install a stereo in Toyota Premio car? Thank you.
Do you still have the original radio? I'll buy it for $100 and I'll pay for shipping?
I have JBL subwoofer in my car it will work with subwoofer?
same my problem i ask him and he not answers me
I most likely put something to the side. I like the Radio in the FJ for many reasons.
