Flour PHOLOURIE | Trini Carnival Eats 🇹🇹

  • Ingredients for approximately 60 pholourie:
    Pholourie Batter
    5 cups of flour
    2.5 tsps of salt
    2.5 tsps of sugar
    1/2 tsp of turmeric
    1 tbsp (3 tsps) of INSTANT yeast
    1 tsp of minced pimento + bandhania
    *optional -1 tsp of roasted ground geera
    Raw Mango Chutney
    1 half ripe mango
    6-8 cloves of garlic
    Hot peppers
    3-5 bandhania/culantro/chadon beni leaves
    2 tsps of salt
    1 tsp of sugar (as needed)
    The juice of a small lime (2 tsps)
    1/2- 3/4 cup of water
    Ingredients for approximately 24 pholourie
    2 cups of flour
    1 tsp of salt
    1 tsp of sugar
    1/4 tsp of turmeric
    1 tsp of INSTANT yeast
    1/4 tsp of minced pimento + bandhania

    We Guyanese soak the dhal overnight and blend it and add flour geera powder and ground garlic and onion pepper with baking powder with little turmeric and for the sour we boil the mango with garlic and pepper with little bit sugar I gave my son your recipe he likes the ones that make with flour he is at University and I’m not there to show him he making them for the first time I like your explanation nicely explain thanks for sharing

    Reshmi, I don't put yeast and just flour because it burst and burn like you said, use self rising flour and it will Never burst. But I also use the soaked and blend split peas. Good luck 😃 I will try your recipe with the self rising flour

    Thanks Reshmi pholourie looks well why are yu using hands to drop it in oil don't yu think yu should show other methods too like a small scoop to pick up batter pholourie is a very difficult thing to make the way yu showing that method is dangerous some one is going to get burnt they better be smart to do a safer method

      Thanks for the message. Frying anything is dangerous. I don't own one of those scoops but I will mention that it can be used. When you use your hands, you have more control because the batter can fall off too quickly from a scoop and pitch oil on you.
