    Thanks for this video.
    I would shrink tube the wire insulation to the ring terminal, then shrink tube, or what I prefer, wrap tape around end of split loom to shrink tube.
    Shrink tube isolates wire from weather, split loom protects from abrasion.

    Dean, Good luck on the Installer award. I voted for you the other day. I was curious on your thoughts about using a circuit breaker instead of a fuse? If a breaker was to be used would you use the same amp rating or use a lower amp rating? In my case I have a Kicker KXA1200.1 ran with 1/0 OFC approximately 15' long with a 150 amp fuse.

    Great video! One thing I was taught is loom or cover with snakeskin or other preferred method from fuse holder back, but from battery to fuse holder not to cover it with loom. I'm not sure why exactly...maybe so if anything happened to wire it's not hidden under loom. Have you guys heard of that?

      +Casey Cross yes SoundMan does it the same way as that. I believe Ford used to do it that from the factory. We kind of just try copy what's in the car.

    I love your videos! I saw your other video regarding 4 awg wire and connecting to amplifiers. I ordered ferrules and I'm planning on rewiring my connections to my amplifier on my current install that I have been picking away at. I have yet to mount the fuse or wire anything to make it life because I'm planning on replacing battery terminals. What do you recommend I use ferrules for the fuse holder? Also do you have any recommendations for what style of battery terminal I should use? Keep up the amazing videos! I love how clean the installations are and how well you two work together.

    quick question. I'm running 4 gauge wire that will go into a distribution block and distribute my power into 4 gauge and 8 gauge for a Mono and 4 channel amp. The block is fused and I'm putting a 100a mini ANL on the 4 gauge, and an 80a mini ANL on the 8 gauge. What size fuse do I use for the main 4 gauge? 180a?

    Five Star Car Stereo, got a question in this installation video of the inline battery fuse holder what size fuse would you normally use for this amp install? I'm installing 2 amps for my stereo setup one is an Alpine 4 channel 600 watt amp that will run my front door and rear speakers and the other is a Alpine 700 watt mono amp for running one 12" sub, would it be advisable to use an inline 300 amp ANL style fuse for the battery fuse holder? I want to use a mini ANL style inline fuse holder to save space.

    Love your videos. I have a question so I need to replace my fuse holder and it had 60 amp fuse. Looking at a kicker fuse holder and states holds a 100 amp fuse. Should I get a 60 amp fuse or use the 100amp one? Does it make a difference?

    would love to purchase a connector at the positive battery terminal that splits of 2 wires one for car, one to power the 2 amps in truck- is 4 gauge wire ok- my last install as a noob 10 years ago used 1 gauge from battery to trunk amp, drilled with great grief thru floorboard of Q45- really inflexible thick 1 gauge - still have that old 1 gauge wire when i removed system after a undiscovered leak which brought moisture into trunk. now i have 2014 mustang, jl audio xd700/5v2 4 ch amp, jl audio stealthbox w 13 inch woofer in trunk, also have 2 kenwood xr-1S mono subwoofer amps- should I use on of those to the subwoofer jl audio 13inch stealthbox- have used anyting since pulled 8 years ago- been stored in dry bedroomn closed since

    A reason some self installers don’t scrèw the fuse holders down is because they’re unsure if it’s ok to drill and screw in certain areas.
    All the more reason to get a pro to do it.

    Mount the fuse next to a fuel line.

    • @autotech2143
      @autotech2143 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What fuel line? Are you talking about the grey metal line that has a black cap with an H on it? If so that is not a fuel line. It is the high side line for the A/C. Granted I wouldn't have mounted the fuse and ran the wire that close due to that line gets extremely hot. He didn't have many options but it would of been nice to see the bracket dropped down some or had some sort heat shield made onto the fuse bracket.
