    I've always been more impressed by the craftsmanship of a system than the sound when it comes to mobile audio. Admittedly, it's counterintuitive. This 51 year old loves the channel. I've been messin' with this stuff since '90.

    Binge watching your videos right now! I am learning so much about tools and possibilities. I will start my first build in ten years on my new car and already got so much help out of your videos. It's really hard to find any up high quality and to date car audio content like yours here in Germany. I would love to have a workshop and tools some day to play around with some more advanced ideas 😊 Keep up the amazing work!

    If my car's factory amplifier is rated at 120 amps, what kind of fuse size should I use if I'm going to use 1/0 gauge wires in th3 big 3 upgrade? I currently have a 300A inline fuse, but I checked online with chatgpt (which can make mistakes) & it said that it should be closer to the alternator's rating so the fuse can catch a short circuit beforehand instead of waiting to short circuit until it reaches 300A.

    Hi Mark. Please consider fabrication and sales of brackets for American, European and Asian Vehicles you have experience with as a side trade. Even though you outline these steps very easily, when staring at the engine bay of my 2014 Hyundai Tucson I suddenly go blank. Would be nice if general fuse holder brackets (that can take one or two fuse holders, already cut and bent and including a small picture to show which stock location they attach to) could be sold by either you or a third party e.g. Knuconceptz, e-bay, amazon etc.

    How do I open this type of fuse holder in order to change a blown fuse?

  • @jonsquatch
    @jonsquatch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great tips and the finished production came out nice but its triggering my bracket OCD. There is a bit more flex in that than I would like, but it should work fine without a gusset although I would have added one. The biggest thing for me would be not mounting the fuse centered on the flat plane and not mirroring the shape of the bottom plate of the fuse holder in the bracket. I think it would have looked nice to have a consistent 3/8 inch or so reveal all the way around the fuse holder.

    • @techone72893
      @techone72893 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fuse holder not being centered was giving me fits. I too have OCD and it just didn't work for me. The craftsmanship was top notch, but that little detail would've been something I would have done differently. To be honest, screwing bolts directly into plastic is also something I prefer to avoid. Plastic has the same issues with cold and heat cycles as wood does and those bolts will eventually work themselves loose. As battery cables are something worth securing tightly, I would have used stainless bolts and nylok fasteners.
      Disclaimer: As my profile shows, I'm a photographer now, but before that I was a certified installer for 25 years.

    Please, give me an idea of how to securely install fuse and power cable to a battery that is under spare wheel in my Audi A8 D4 trunk. Because now I must take my bass box and a spare wheel to disconnect battery to work on wiring to my amps. So cable and fuse must be flat down on the floor to allow wheel to fit in. Hmm? 🤷‍♂️

    Great looking. How do you keep it from being stolen? From A**Holes?

  • @coyotelife9732
    @coyotelife9732 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I ordered some kolossus ofc and the only thing I don't like is once it's stripped, it's hard to keep together while putting it in a ferrule. But I'm still gonna use in from here on out. You can buy it by the foot instead of overpaying for a stupid amp wiring kit that may not have enough wire (especially ground) for your install.

    What are your thoughts on a 150/200A relay vs fuse up front near the main battery?

    • @ElevatedEyes2023
      @ElevatedEyes2023 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A relay isn't a fuse. You can add a relay in addition to the fuse but a relay doesn't replace it.

    • @techone72893
      @techone72893 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was my first thought as well. I use one in my current vehicle. I much prefer it to a fuse. Though it has never tripped, I feel better knowing that I could reset it in the field after correcting the reason it tripped in the first place, without having to carry spare fuses everywhere.
