It's hard to explain the feeling over Community weekend, but I think you summed it up really well. The Sea felt dormant, two 8 streak burning blades with a total of 2 ships coming to challenge it was just disappointing to see. The Burning Blade event especially feels reliant on other players to make it engaging in my eyes and without that it's just another series of fetch quests, except this time even the Skeletons won't fight you.
Just because they didn’t go after an event many people have already achieved many times over? Just last night I saw 3 ships fighting over the burning blade so idk what servers you’ve been on. Also keep in mind that many people were doing the gilded voyages rare gave out during the weekend. Sail to the shores of plenty and you would have seen a lot of activity.
People were farming hourglass... What is the point of having Burning Blade with out skeleton curse? To get rewards as Burning blade you need to have Skeleton curse to unlock cosmetics. In my opinion they made mistake by not adding skeleton curse to Burning blade commendations or give reputation for Servants of the Flame Faction and not reapers. Like it would be other way to get the skeleton curse except hourglass and if you sink it sell to Stranger and get reputation for Ghosts. And like selling one would give you 5-7 faction lvl's. Then maybe people would interact and attack that ship more.
You guys make good points. Though, I used the burning blade as a main example to cut down on my comment's length, but we also did other World Events, Gilded Voyages, Hourglass and even Siren Song in the hopes that we would come across some people, and outside of the singular actual crew doing it and a loss farmer that we went up against in Hourglass, we found pretty much nobody.
I can answer where the community went. We quit. Rare was actively ignoring the cheating issue, ignoring support Tickets or even attacking people that tried to bring these things to the public attention Rare messed up big and the player count shows it
Unfortunately the Golden Age of SoT has been over for a while. Too many players have experienced boring gameplay, lack of new content, cheaters, and too much emphasis on the Emporium while their game stability crumbles. The world used to be fresh and new, now its just old salts just looking for people to sink and new people having no idea what they are doing.
@@CWolf-hx4yi that wasn't really my point. You're saying new players not knowing what they do is a Bad thing. But you didn't knowing either. And now you're here saying you miss these days. My point being New players are doing juste fine and if old players are getting fed up, it's their problem. A closed community where only an elite is gets to choose what everyone else thinks is doomed to fail. For short, calling yourself "old sea dog" doesn't give you any veteran discount. You'll be replaced as a player.
@@koop-xcie7715 I never said being a new player is bad. I am saying all the content added is either done in a day or falls completely flat with the existing player base that have already been sailing for years. Look at the draw the game had between A Pirates Life vs Monkey Island…. Same with the BB. Just another boring fetch quest. Remember when they added megs and skele ships? New weapons are fun, but we just killing the same stuff as we did 6years ago. I am saying I want that new player feeling again with new content. Not same lame insult simulator that was maybe fun 35 years ago when most people didnt even own a PC, but in modern times its boring. Remember how amazing glitterbeard was the first and 2nd time? Im saying I want to feel like the new players do now, but Rare really enjoys recycling content or releasing broken content and by the time its fixed most of the player base has moved on.
This hits home. I was literally one of the first people who was able to put their hands on the game, in the technical alpha pioneer program, early 2017. Sea of Thieves had a much different feel to it back then. Everything was so novel, it was a 50/50 chance if other people want to sink you while talking like a pirate or it was a friendly ship wanting to drink grog and chat for a bit. Nobody ever had to worry about cheaters and toxic players in those days. You found more people than today and at the same time it was a much, much less hostile experience. Nowadays we have so much content, which is a good thing, but so many people who hard-grind towards it. So much that their enjoyment of the game itself suffers. Cheaters are something you constantly have to consider seeing, especially in hourglass. It feels like we jumped from the first season of Spongebob to the tenth. It's a much different thing and I agree, it hurts to see that more and more players are leaving. I have a few ideas on how they could make people interested again, but that would basically need a 2.0 update with an upgraded, more stable version of Unreal Engine which allows better anti-cheat, better stability and more "room" for content to add. Like new regions, which were originally the plan of the devs, as Chapman said during an interview before release. Let's hope for the best when it comes to the future. With how much love they have put into the game for the last seven years, there's still some serious hope for a turnaround. All it needs is the right big decisions in the upcoming times.
"show them there's a community that's here to help" *shows a clip of the burning blade absolutely unloading on a sloop, that they set fire to, and are also boarding* 😂
The time that Rare should of spent expanding lore and world play area was instead spent more on the emporium and on changes that the majority of the older playerbase despised. Its going to take an absolute work space miracle for Rare to reverse their made bad rep and get the game in the state it was during arena. Whether that being improving servers, reverting PVP changes or improving community communication, I just don't see it happening. SOT has had its run and the next season might very well be its last.
Rare is gearing the game towards POTENTIAL players. At the cost of concurrent ones. That is the basics of what is happening. New players are more likely to buy cosmetics from emporium so they want to get as many people trying the game and spending that first chunk of change. They don't really care if those players continue to play because the longer you play this game the less cosmetics you buy. They aren't rewarding players for being loyal to the game. So they started looking elsewhere.
exactly that, you described what their desire is, because the efforts to remove hackers from the game is ridiculous and whether or not the largest number of players were on PC.... then they release it for another console but do not show real support for the PC in terms of hacking and game instability.
It’s a weird one, as someone who has played since beta consistently, I’ve seen the ups and downs with player count but recently it feels lower than say 4 years ago. Hg is just the same people now and it’s getting to the point where I’m just seeing the same people in adventure, a lot of them I’ll recognise from hg too. There does also seem to be a feeling of complete disconnection now too compared to year 1 and 2 of the game where true, the game was smaller just like the community, but now it feels like it’s very much a “this is what is happening and oh, you guys don’t get a say in it” whereas it used to be “these are the ideas we’ve got coming, let us know what you think!”. Regardless, great video covering this, keep it up!
I think the Safer seas idea is best. It is easy to impliment, I hate Safer Seas and making new accounts be forced to be there for 10 levels will frustrate enough cheaters to stop. Those who alreay play never have to worry and for those legit new players, it will teach them, hopefully well, on most mechanics and then when they do get to high seas, they might be able to hold their own a bit more.
@@Chellzie I was originally shocked but when and had a look, I don’t think they’ve quit based on their Twitter reaction, but they’ve certainly stepped away. Many of the content creators / partners have stepped away.
@@Diegoggs900I do read a lot of negativity about cheaters. But as a console player playing only with other consoles, I don’t have this problem which makes it a great game for me. But if the majority of this comes from PC players, then I think that’s why it is still being played my a lot of happy people… Really just wondering 💭
This is a fantastic video which highlights everything going on so well! They really do need to be putting more care and love into the game again with regular updates and also look at how they can take action against cheat client creators who are tanking their game. I also feel the same way as you where I was inspired to aim for Sea of Thieves partner but after Rares reaction towards myself and other people speaking up (e.g mass blocks, treating myself and others like we're evil for trying to get some more security put in the game ect) I have had to reconsider any of those goals and put the game on the shelf while looking into what the best way forward for content creation is going to be. ❤
There is so many features they could add to the game if they listened to the community, unfortunately I think a lot of community members are fed up, nothing lasts forever and it's ok to pivot your goals and content if things are not working. Many of the most experienced and long-term players have left the game and this has stemmed way prior to the influx of cheaters I believe, roughly from what I've seen around the end of Arena. I have been unable to since the exit of Arena which killed a lot of our events to even find passion to log on that much anymore. There are also many communities (including ours) and streamers like you that feel they can make a major impact to Sea of Thieves but have unfortunately been able to get through the brick wall as you would call it - most likely going to shoot ourselves in the foot here but enough is enough! I've seen some of your posts whilst scrolling through Twitter and more needs to be done. The community wasn't always like this, and I hate seeing what it has happened to SOT and how disconnected everything seems. Normally we don't really post on social media, but Wezzy got my attention. I do hope that changes are implemented, and we don't see players like yourself with a voice willing to stand up not be listened too.
@@silkenver thank you for your comment friend! I hope they’re listening, there’s a few weeks left of this season. I wish I could say I’m even cautiously optimistic for the future, but it is hard to be.
@@mastertrolley669 it’s quiet enough to get it done currently, they’ve done ok to fix the blatant cheating. If you’re not a streamer and keeping under the radar, you’re ok.
Cheaters ruin every game they go in. All for the sake of their own amusement. Games are dying because of them I hope companies take the cheat devs ro court more often
Sent an error to rare for turning in pop up plunder grade 5 reaper flag we dug up. Counted as 3 gold. Had the video proof and their response was. We will fix it in a future update and we are closing ticket. I checked Google and found out this has been happening in previous pop up plunders..... I'm disappointed in rare for their lack of compassion or understanding. We go through the trouble of doing one of their events and it doesn't work. We don't get an apology or even the slightest I'm sorry. All my teammate and I got was a "oops better luck next time" is what it feels like. 1600 hours in the game and have brought multiple people to the game and taught many players how to play. It just feels like they are no longer listening to anyone in community and just keep crapping stuff out hoping it'll work.
honestly don't bother playing. You can also get banned for no reason other than being framed by bad actors. And even if you have proof of the actions, Support team will NEVER listen to you. Their support team are the worst and only helps cheaters
this video has explain a lot for me, i took a 2 month hiatus from gaming and just recently got back into SOT, and the past couple days i’ve hardly seen any players in adventure. it’s just a barren wasteland and it’s honestly really sad to see
The level of cheating and toxicity in sea of thieves is incredible, it's one of my favourite games but it's becoming unplayable for the casual gamer or new beginners
5:54 I'd like to add that the season 12 community weekend was during summer break and the season 13 one wasn't. That probably also had a huge impact on why there's such a difference between the two numbers wise
Yes, absolutely. You could also add in the fact that it was the season when PS5's version of the game had dropped too. A 50% drop off is still alarming, regardless of that kind of thing. It was holidays in Australia during Community Weekend, and that really didn't affect our stamp in terms of seeing an uptick in players. Again, it's all anecdotal.
I will say that, season 12 com weekend was ps5 drop as well. Regardless rare failed to keep a playerbase seeing as this was still a weekend where most people will have off.
Personnally, i dont think the level cap will mean anything to cheaters. They will either buy accounts with the level cap, or their cheatung client will just get the levels for them. Cheaters will no doubt try to find a way around whatever requirements Rare puts on them to stop them
I have also encountered several cheat accounts that have 20 days + on the account and several pirate legend cheat accounts. If you're mildly cautious you can get away with cheating for a good amount of time
Sot was my all time favorite game to play around 2 years ago, I still play it, but it’s boring, rare seems focused on adding new content nobody wanted or needed instead brand new and intriguing world events or even a new faction, it’s just the same thing we’ve been doing with a new coat of paint. Most people I see run away now, even hourglass is miserable since people just run until you give up if you’re better. The game was dying a year ago, it’s dead now, it’s not past the point of fixing it but it will be unbelievably soon if they do nothing to fix the issues that’s plagued the game since launch
September has always been a slow month for SoT with the return to school and it is also the end of the current season so less people playing for sure. You just can’t compare a community weekend done in June vs one done in September. I think things are going in the right direction. People will always seem unhappy online regardless how a game is really doing because those who don’t have an issue with the game don’t take the time to write about it online.
@@tommyhawthorne8223 sometimes there’s glitches and I still laugh about it, and while I probably shouldn’t sometimes, I have accepted the state for such a long time, it just happens.
I like Toxie’s idea except that would mean that new players either… A: cannot play with friends in High Seas the first bit until they unlock High Seas (wouldn’t be too bad tbh but definitely a bit annoying for the vets) or B: they can bypass this by joining another account which then defeats the purpose.
@@legion1te so I’ll offer a counter point, let me know what you think. A. They do the one hour or 5 quests on safer seas. Their veteran / high seas friends can join them, show them the ropes, ultimately get more insight to how it all works, less stress to figure it out instantly. Again, veteran players wouldn’t need to worry about this ultimately because if they’re doing everything above board to begin with, they won’t have to do this step if it got introduced. B. Yeah. This wouldn’t surprise me either haha. Cheers for the comment.
I totally agree I run into cheaters on a daily basis now, it's quite sad that some people actually go out of their way to ruin other people's fun and it needs to be dealt with
I can’t lie that I’ve been way more active during season 13 personally, probably the most active since season 7? (Whenever hourglass dropped). But agreed, season 14 needs to see a return to form. I’m incredibly skeptical of how the stealth mechanics will work, and if they serve a greater purpose.
I felt kinda bummed over missing community weekend, and after hearing this it worries me a little that cheaters are so rampant, granted i could turn off crossplay and mitigate the problem a little but playing with the pc players is almost always a treat for me, even before content creation. Regardless I appreciate the heartfelt message Wezzy. Lets hope Rare turns a new leaf soon.
I think it’s time for Sea of Thieves 2, new map fresh start and everyone trying to get to PL again, a lot of players no longer care about loot because they’re already rich and have done everything. They sink/steal from players because that’s all that’s really left to do that MIGHT be fun, but most of the time it’s a pointless sink on someone that wants to be left alone. I think them taking away from world events by making everything worth it money wise and having so many different options to get worth it loot has taken away the excitement of being the crew to win a world event, now there’s so many things splitting everyone up that it feels so empty. OG skeleton forts year one were amazing because they were worth fighting over because it was the grand prize, the risk of other players made the game fun, that is lost in the game now and I don’t see it coming back, mainly because the game is no longer new to all players and a lot of people are too good now that the fear of others isn’t there anymore. Personally the most fun I’ve had has been fighting over world events with multiple ships. I haven’t really played any of the new season so the BB event might’ve changed that but as you said only one brig came after you so it doesn’t seem like much has changed. The fact that SOT still supports the Xbox one is nuts. Releasing on PS just felt like a last chance to revive what’s left, personally as a day one sot player I think it’s time for a new one.
Dude I feel it man I've been playing sea of thieves for four years consistently amast over 5000 hours in this game inplay on xbox and I stay in the xbox severs because of cheating and even then every week we run into something that makes no sense sometimes we beat the people we think are cheating I've reported what I can. I remember when I could steal FOTD solo, I started my sea of thieves' career as a thief from the start. I did this with my dad for the first couple of months back in 2020. I love this game. I hate to see it going down like this it's gonna need to improve soon. I really want this game to get better. You did mention Captain falcore in the video that reminds me of his proposal that sea of thieves may do an engine refresh I think the game needs this one an excuse to drop old gen hardware like the xbox one I'm not sure if that's gonna be a massive change but hopefully if they do drop it on a new engine may make cheating harder for at least a little while l. There is also that sea of thieves is a game like no other, so there isn't a simple solution for cheating. I also think that the VA/SA issue is a symptom of cheating it definitely an issue, but if the cheaters are dealt with those doing VA/SA will go with them because sea of thieves isn't a game that rewarding to those types of people I find that those that are doing those things usually have very little time in the game. Anyway, I love your content I just subed to you hope to find in the sea sir roll tide
Unfortunately, i have to agree. I have been noticing just the general negative vibes come in with Hackers and other people like that runing the game. I have found myself slowly straying away from sea of thieves, simpliy from how toxic it has become, and just how lonely it its. Toxie's video didn’t do much justice either. I simply hope next year is a step in the right direction.
@@avi8tor131 ah valid point, certainly wasn’t aware of that. So you’ve be paying essentially $20 monthly and then an extra however much on top for the plunder pass. Which makes me think that PlayStation5 is the upfront cost, then the added cost of PlayStation online, and then a plunder pass on top of that.
The state of the game is just not good and it causes people to quit playing it. Either because they think the problem it's on their end or if they know the game is the problem, they end up quiting it because you can't even walk on a straight line a complete island without lagging. Being this said, i think a Sea of Thieves 2 is actually necessary at this point. A game optimization with new tools and technologies is the way. The oldest version can be kept for players attached to those technologies, but in my opinion you shouldn't have to be attached to something old if you have the possibility to improve. Thank you for the work. Let's hope for Rare to find the better solution for the game we all love.
@@duck1t0 the more I speak with others, and the fact Microsoft hasn’t abandoned the game, to me indicates we may be looking at a SoT2. Romantically optimistic, let’s say that.
I myself agree the game is in need of some changes to bring more people into the seas I personally have been playing the game with the same crew for about 3 years or so and I really care for the game and the community of people I have come across and I do think the game has lost its touch and needs new content or at least fix some problems so people are once again drawn back into the game and rebuild the amount of players once again
In as few words as possible, someone tell me what I should do in the new update. I want to get back into this but it is battle pass and quest over stimulation. Confusing the heck out of me.
But also, chip away at it. Don't rush it. It's ok to put the game down and come back to it when you're ready. If it's not fun, don't ever force it to be.
@@WezzyCruze I loved it when it first came out. Simple and smooth. Over time I have loved the updates and new content. But as someone not regularly playing I get overwhelmed that I have to relearn and learn new content, weapons, menus, etc.
@WezzyCruze I have had the idea for a while now, effectively you would have cheater accounts shuffled together on the same servers. I doubt that cheaters would have much fun all stuck together and not being able to 'out cheat' one another (working something like the GTA V lobbies). Rare could then also decide if they wanted to ban accounts or not at that point, I can see how this could be exploited, but something (heck anything) has got to be better than what we have now. ☹️
@@Avrenac there was a game a while back that punish cheaters but putting them into the same server together, I can’t remember what it was off the top of my head.
Since rare is focused so hard on emporium they need to make SoT free! The problem is rare allowing tickets to go unsupported as well as having mods who let feelings take over. The constant ban wave of legitimate players from official sot discord and twitter is pushing people away ratger than pulling. I can say i have come across female cheaters they are super rare though.
Community weekend was definitely a let down, i didnt encounter any hackers even in hourglass which was great but i hardly saw any obvious fresh crews, granted they probably shouldnt even be in that game mode but i also noticed an almost complete lack of even more casual players, they were all veterans or had at least been playing since season 8 so it was kind of disappointing not being able to have chill matches. And adventure sucked cause yeah barely any casual players were on, just veterans or people who had only come back just for community weekend. I still plan to keep playing but i always find myself wishing id gotten on this game 2-3 years ago when i couldve grinded this game out much more smoothly.
I find the title of the video somewhat misleading. I don't see this as a divided community, when there is a bunch of idiots with no self esteem cheating against other players. And it's not the reason I quit the game for now. The reason I left is, that I am a Solo Player. I like PvE content. But not only were the last few seasons rootet almost entirely to lager crews making each other eat lead, many of the changes also made it increasingly more difficult for solo players to defend against other crews. Being a Solo is already hard the way it is, and not being able to take part in the later seasons content at all as a mediocre skilled player is frustrating.
Maybe something is broken in the server distribution code, 'cos as a casual player it's a little tedious. I can jump on high seas and 90% of the time I get left alone for hours and almost never see another player, whereas 2 years ago I'd get my arse kicked at least once an hour. On a side note, seeing what happened to GigglingGhosty, the way she was relentlessly bullied and abused, that's just not a good image for a game when you have toxic scum causing well known players to quit and walk away 'cos Rare weren't listening to leading lights in the community. When Rare doesn't support those most in need of help from abuse, then you know something's not right.
@@legion1te thank you! I’ll try again later on. I am using OBS most sessions anyway, so I’m not too worried personally, but reporting still does take a lot longer if and when it happens.
Well, based on the stats in the video it's estimated that there's been about a 50% drop in player count. So half the community don't feel that the game is worth playing anymore, while the other half do. I'd call that pretty divided 😅
@@shortycz4741 valid point, I certainly should have made that a little clearer, but yeah, it’s the 50% drop off, it’s more a literal take on the community being divided almost. Thanks!
I have well over 2000 hours of this game played and I once loved this game. The Rare company doesn’t care about the ongoing problems they have and that has been shown countless times, from 2020 ban in arena to supporting bad streamers then allowing cheaters in the game with no information. Rare are prideful and refuse to see that there is an issue. I loved this game because it felt unique the different types of people that you meet was always one of the best moments for me, but that is in the past and if this continues then they will lose more than just players.
i started in season 12 and was having a blast. I still play, but now the servers have been unacceptable tbh. The lag on the server end has been unreal for my group
Personally, I think the seasons are too long and becoming a pirate legend is far too easy… with the old quest system, it was much harder. But now everything you need is on your ship, it’s just too easy. My brother was a new player on ps5, and he became pirate legend in a month. It’s too easy, and once your pirate legend, there’s nothing else really to do apart from hourglass. Which I am doing with my brother, but a lot of people don’t like that. Once they get to pirate legend, there’s nothing for them to do
@@llasanya yeah, I remember it taking me nearly a year to get pirate legend, now I can get there in literally a solid days session if I’m really thinking it out.
Give us Arena back!!!! Or at least make it a TDM weapons only mode so people can actually practice with weapons. When I introduce new players, they are turned off by not being able to practice fighting people with weapons until they are being straight bonked and losing all of their treasure... Give people an area to do that. Otherwise people will continue to leave and us OGs are going to keep wondering where everyone is.
@@Thamb0 I did hear that friendly fire PvP was a thing when the game launched but was abused, I need to look into it. I feel it’s something that would need to be looked into, but something they could opt in like hourglass.
Well I think they should put resources to hot fix a a lot of bugs that are in the game to make the experience better and smoother, along with making hourglass better for example my friend says if you sink the person will that sank you then you get your streak back i think you should be able to queue in hourglass and not have to re buy supplies it burns everyone out when you queue sink and requeue just to sink again and lose them all over again, and last they need to stop adding changes that no one asked for ex: the blunder bust along with cutting the grind down, the games grind is so long now there’s no reason why to not cut the grind down a little bit but that’s my take
As a console player, The community weekend was quite sad to see… in term of cheater it is almost imposible to find a cheater in hourglass or on adventure but the server were just empty. On Xbox on a community weekend the average Time of finding a match on hg was around 7-10min and on the PvE aspect of the game the sea felt dead (sometime’s I was even wondering if I was not on Safer sea !) stacked 10 Fotd and no one showed, and when I wanted to do some « Classic » PvP They were all running away, yelling racial slur telling me to « go back to hourglass » This is the same has the arena, two community too divided to understand What this game is really about. I'm gonna be so for real its probably mostly because school is started up again in most places in america, and american teens are the #1 audience of this game
@@TOAB-ik8fu we've just had our school holidays here in Australia and noticed a slightttttt boost in younger players during the day and on weekends, but the regulars have certainly dropped out.
It needs sloop only servers option, a sloop going up against a brig or gallon can be seriously unfair when it's 3-4 players against 1, I understand it's a pirate game but when you get seriously outnumbered it can be frustrating and just turn off feeling what's the point, so I really do think that sloop only servers would bring back a lot of players to the game as long as they keep all the benefits of a normal server and without the restrictions of safer seas
That's a big disagree on my part, as a main solo slooper I love to take on bigger ships. The variety makes it more interesting. If you're struggling as a small ship, learning to outsail bigger ships is key.
I think I've only encountered one cheater within the past year and a half and even then me and my crew slammed him to the ground no matter how many times he teleported onto our mast. But! I do know a lot of regions have bigger issues with Cheaters where it's a lot more frequent.
It's sad to see where we are as a community. I'm hoping it gets better because frankly I'm not sticking around if it doesn't get better. The harassment has gotten out of control.
I've been sailing around with friends giving out loot to newer players to encourage them to hang around. We also pretend to be border patrol checking their papers, it's fun.
Yesterday I played for over three hours and the entire time I did not see any other players, atleast not in the Shores of Plenty because thats where I was the whole time, dont get me wrong it was nice being able to do a bunch of quests undisturbed but in the end I know that's not a good sign for the game.
And personally, I find the Shores Of Plenty the place I like to sail because it's straight up pretty and has easier islands to traverse. When I don't see people there, I feel weird already. To go three hours without seeing anyone is a weird feeling.
Dang, this is another video of some people that I don’t know (until today) tells me the game is dying. We ALL get it the game is in a weird state right now, the people who can’t see that either are on the coping train and missed their stop or new players who wanna try it out. @@WezzyCruze that’s the point I’m trying to make (sorry if I came out as rude) but the way I see it, either Rare will truly get back on its feet and sot will be the rival to almost any Microsoft game, or it’ll fall and Microsoft themselves will put it under if Joe Neat doesn’t

I compare it to something like No Man’s Sky, which was originally a concept in this video but removed for time purposes. That game we could make the argument is similar to Sea Of Thieves: both empty on content at launch, developers continue to work on it. The only difference is NMS is seeing an uptick in players now, getting more this late in the games release, with all updates being free to those who purchased, on a team of 60 odd developers. Where we’re still paying x amount a month for SoT, with a dev team of 500+ and it’s having an opposite effect. Hopefully that makes sense, it’s early morning here haha.
I've run in to 3 females cheaters, they're rare but they do exist. To be clear those are confirmed cheaters, doing things like teleport and insta ladder. Not just hitting shots or being skilled. The female cheaters are much more tame it seemed though, only ones of the 3 spammed summer offensive stuff. At the end of the day nothing they say bothers me in any way. There's going to be people in the world who think like them, I just laugh them off and go on.
That's the first case I've heard of female cheaters then. So thanks for that. I'm yet to experience any myself, but in OCE, it's mostly young male teenagers with warped world views. Sadly.

@@blitzedbtw160 that’s fair. I speak mostly from the OCE servers, where teenage boys try to be edgelords and say the most vile things to get a reaction. It’s disgusting, honestly.
@@WezzyCruze yeah I play on OCE too, it’s horrible some of the things people say especially guys on the game, I once found 3 girls that were just trying to play and they got targeted by 2 cheaters that kept on saying the n word and stuff about SA and worse, my mate and I sunk the cheaters
The game is going in a bad direction rare only cares about the casual players who will buy ancient coins they dont care about the core playerbase epsecially the pvp community.
For me personally game is seasonal. It is perfect summer game. And summer is ended i still paying some of it but i feel soon i will move on to other games. One of more i reason i can't palay this game more is obvious meta in weapons... Double gunning ruining game and every one just abuse shit out of it... Its not fun to play against or as double gunner. They need reconsider and revamp weapon choice. As for now it is just aids to play against. And i think it really scares people away from game when they get killed in seconds.... All my friends dropped game instantly after running into one of sweaty double gunners. Game needs rebalance weapons and do the classic rock/paper/scissors. As there needs to be counter to each build... It would make game more dynamic and more weapons would be used. As now you use sword just for diving.... Knife is fun but cant do shit against double gunner. Other than that. Visuals amazing love it. Spaghetti code abuses are ruing game, for example fishing road cannon launch or ladder launch ruin the experience in my opinion. As they are literally bug abuse.
I was with you 90% of the way until I realized all this was just an attempt to trigger Rare in to letting you in to their circle of partnered streamers. Thats just thirsty. Rare does not care about the community. They only started caring until they realized they were losing players hand over fist and it was affecting their bottom line. The entire game was a rip off of an arcade game that was located at Disney Springs. They stopped putting any effort in to story line. The second they go back in to focusing on lore based adventures they can see the return of a percentage of OGs in the game. Don't act like you care though just to thirst trap in to becoming a partner. Thats just corny.
I feel like there’s a few things to respond to here. I’m sorry if my intent wasn’t conveyed clear enough. I don’t care if I ever become an SoT Partner or affiliate or whatever, it’s a pie in the sky kind of thing, I’m 35 and streaming is certainly a young persons field, because speaking honestly about the things I’m passionate about is something I value more. A slight TMI into my background, I’ve left jobs, bands, projects, etc based on my inability to not speak to the truth of the situation. I’d made no secret though of becoming a TH-cam partner, which in itself, means I wouldn’t be restricted in what I can and can’t say (to a degree, I’d assume). Still, I can see how you got to your reasoning, but that’s certainly not where my intent lies. I won’t force you to change your opinion either way. In my previous video, I showcased cheaters, and I can’t imagine that did any favours for potential prospects. Again, I’d rather speak my truth and help signal boost the voices of the community, and that’s whether Rare listens to any of them or myself, or not. Do you have any further information on the game at Disney Springs? That sounds interesting to look into. Thanks for taking the time to comment, even if you kinda try ripping me a new one.
@@WezzyCruze You literally end the video basically begging and offering Rare your services. If you are going to be honest be honest but that dishonest salespitch at the end shows your real intention.
@@JiuJitsuRadio yeah dude, as like a game tester or something. Not a partner in that instance. Apologies I didn’t clarify that, but I do feel you’re quite set in your train of thought.
The best way to fix cheating is to fix cheating is to fix the game. Most cheaters are actually really good players who got false banned for a really stupid reason like camping. If we had things like Arena, quickswap and higher fov as well as cleaner movement, many cheaters would play legit.
@@sSteppingStones while i don’t doubt there’s legit players that got done for spawn camping, many, many, MANY cheaters have either been incredibly racist and vile in what they talk about, or ended up redbearded and are doing a workaround for that because they wouldn’t accept the timeout for what happened to them initially. There’s a lot of reasons and factors in play. I’ve only encountered one cheater who wasn’t banned at all, and was doing it cause he was bored with the game, but it’s hard to trust anything someone says when they’re cheating in game.
I hate cheaters, but both ideas are bad: 1. Kill cam won't work here. It would be used for scouting enemy ship, checking how much loot they have, who they are etc. Bad idea in this kind of adventure game 2.Mandatory Safer Seas is a barrier for joining friends. Imagine situation "come play with us, buy/install the game and jump on our ship". It would not be possible. Also, we as community, have no impact on direction of Sea of Thieves. We are just sheeps guided by gods of Rare, telling us what we can and what we can't do in our pirate life's. It is their game, not ours, that we play. All we can do is keep playing or quit. I will keep playing until Sea of Thieves 2, which BTW I believe is the only way to save Sea of Thieves (current game is in non-fixable state, too much spaghetti code).
"Modern gamers" couldnt handle old CoD lobbies or even basic smack talk IRL. Thenmore you make something a sanitized hugbox, the more competitive types peace out and thats why HG is full of either cheaters. Because now if the only way to trash talk is behind a ban, then you may as well go all the way. By being a busy body, youve created a larger communoty issue. Instead of jist learning to handle it like an adult, or the correct notion of talking smack back.
@@WezzyCruze generally saying "men are the problem" is extremely sexist as most cheaters dont talk therefore you cannot really determine their sex, i myself have met many cheaters most dont talk and the few who did were equally men and women or inbetween.
@@ItzFoxUwU we’re going to need to agree to disagree on this matter. I don’t think what I said was sexist, more a generalisation, and I’m not going to step back from that. 100% of my interactions with cheaters have been men, and I’ve encountered more than dozens of them at this point, and they’ve all used their microphone and said with their voice some of the most vile and disgusting things. So apologies if standing up for women if that offends you, but that’s a hill I’m happy to die on. I had to cut my stream on Sunday due to men, again, male gamers, using their microphones, saying they wish to r*** and t****** another female streamer, all the while doxxing her IP address. So, I’m sorry if that’s sexist, but I’m speaking from my experiences, other Australian streamers and my crew mates on this particular matter.
Though, I used the burning blade as a main example to cut down on my comment's length, but we also did other World Events, Gilded Voyages, Hourglass and even Siren Song in the hopes that we would come across some people, and outside of the singular actual crew doing it and a loss farmer that we went up against in Hourglass, we found pretty much nobody.
its literally so boring cuz no one ever wants to fight it
@@calebisgoated9690 I can’t do a basic skeleton fort without at least one ship trying to fight for it. Are you on safer seas by mistake?
I can answer where the community went. We quit. Rare was actively ignoring the cheating issue, ignoring support Tickets or even attacking people that tried to bring these things to the public attention
Rare messed up big and the player count shows it
Unfortunately the Golden Age of SoT has been over for a while. Too many players have experienced boring gameplay, lack of new content, cheaters, and too much emphasis on the Emporium while their game stability crumbles. The world used to be fresh and new, now its just old salts just looking for people to sink and new people having no idea what they are doing.
You didn't know what you were doing when you started either. Where's the problem in that ?
@@koop-xcie7715 that's not the point you braindead consumer.
@@koop-xcie7715 Exactly my point. Game isnt fresh or new anymore for old salts like me
@@CWolf-hx4yi that wasn't really my point.
Almond spent about 20 minutes with them, it was helpful. But yes, the editor in me was like "lol, keep it that way"
The time that Rare should of spent expanding lore and world play area was instead spent more on the emporium and on changes that the majority of the older playerbase despised.
@@ITheMeliodasI thank you. And yes, it certainly feels like that.

Really just wondering 💭
This is a fantastic video which highlights everything going on so well!
They really do need to be putting more care and love into the game again with regular updates and also look at how they can take action against cheat client creators who are tanking their game.
I also feel the same way as you where I was inspired to aim for Sea of Thieves partner but after Rares reaction towards myself and other people speaking up (e.g mass blocks, treating myself and others like we're evil for trying to get some more security put in the game ect) I have had to reconsider any of those goals and put the game on the shelf while looking into what the best way forward for content creation is going to be. ❤
I'm fully in your corner on that. Would be happy to assist any way I can as well.

Rare deserve this and I say this being a day 1 player.
Personnally, i dont think the level cap will mean anything to cheaters. They will either buy accounts with the level cap, or their cheatung client will just get the levels for them. Cheaters will no doubt try to find a way around whatever requirements Rare puts on them to stop them
@@tinyfoxtato8924 yeah valid points. I’m not super sure how the cheating clients work, but they’re shifty and always trying something.

I understand what you mean, I left just recently because I’m tired of Rare’s stupidity in this whole situation.
September has always been a slow month for SoT with the return to school and it is also the end of the current season so less people playing for sure. You just can’t compare a community weekend done in June vs one done in September. I think things are going in the right direction. A: cannot play with friends in High Seas the first bit until they unlock High Seas (wouldn’t be too bad tbh but definitely a bit annoying for the vets)
or B: they can bypass this by joining another account which then defeats the purpose.

Good watch. I'm on and off with the game. It was peak enjoyment around A pirates life and the start of season 9. Season 14 has to save us!

The state of the game is just not good and it causes people to quit playing it. The constant ban wave of legitimate players from official sot discord and twitter is pushing people away ratger than pulling.
I can say i have come across female cheaters they are super rare though.
Great video!
@@shott1853 thank you kindly!
Ps5 player here! This game cant die now 🤐 I just unlocked the Obsidian bones 💀 nooo the game is so much FUN 🥲
@@xertion8567 it certainly feels like that, hey.
I've loved the game from the start, too bad some have to be toxic. However I just add to the experiences in any game and I move on to another server.
I hope season 14 will revive the game with its huge meta changes like season 12
I find the title of the video somewhat misleading. I don't see this as a divided community, when there is a bunch of idiots with no self esteem cheating against other players. And it's not the reason I quit the game for now. The reason I left is, that I am a Solo Player. I like PvE content. But not only were the last few seasons rootet almost entirely to lager crews making each other eat lead, many of the changes also made it increasingly more difficult for solo players to defend against other crews. Being a Solo is already hard the way it is, and not being able to take part in the later seasons content at all as a mediocre skilled player is frustrating.
@@minomerle9906 totally agreeable! But also, it was a double meaning with the stats and over 50% drop off between community weekends.
The music is 🤌
Hope SoT sees this
Maybe something is broken in the server distribution code, 'cos as a casual player it's a little tedious.
@@DixieDaydreamer very well said!
Give the game a year, it'll either be dead, barely alive or they'll actually do something that feels like they give some what of a shit.
I bet the PS5 issue is the cross-play. It's borderline impossible to connect to servers if you don't have cross-play on.
@@1okdude I try diving to events on ps5 console servers only and spend eternity down there. Stops me playing on pa5.

Ok all you said was relevant. But I kinda missed where is the community divided? Where is the split?
Well, based on the stats in the video it's estimated that there's been about a 50% drop in player count. So half the community don't feel that the game is worth playing anymore, while the other half do.
I'd call that pretty divided 😅
@@shortycz4741 valid point, I certainly should have made that a little clearer, but yeah, it’s the 50% drop off, it’s more a literal take on the community being divided almost. Thanks!

I love this game
The story, gaming and everything
Wow so big gaming companies have the resources to go after cheating companies themselves? Wonder why this isnt more common.
Because the cheat devs haven't done anything illegal the system only works when u bog them down with bogus lawsuits
(Sorry for the bad english 😅)
@@artyom8849 that’s good feedback to hear from a console player. 10 FOTDs is crazy work too!
you must of been playing at a really early time. during this community weekend on console only servers i had 30 seconds to 2 minute waiting time
I'm gonna be so for real its probably mostly because school is started up again in most places in america, and american teens are the #1 audience of this game

I have encountered plenty of toxic women on sea of thieves. However never seen a female hacker
I think I've only encountered one cheater within the past year and a half and even then me and my crew slammed him to the ground no matter how many times he teleported onto our mast. But! I do know a lot of regions have bigger issues with Cheaters where it's a lot more frequent.

Idk what servers you all play on, I’ve never have issues finding others.

You make it sound like the game was just released...Its hit that time in its life, where it trying some new things and figuring itself. After all, it running on an old version of itself.
PS: You guys are gonna flip on S14 if S13 is such a bad thing.
Sadly.
Did they actually speak? If so, they could've just been some edgy 13yrold using a voice changer.

The forced crossplay ruined the console gaming...xim apex chronus...meta now its cheating...rare just deserved this...
Screw HitboBo,, he sucks
It’s just a game man , if you play 12+ hours a day the game still feels fun and refreshing… you meet tons of ships.
If Rare would pay my bills I'd happily drop everything to play this game 12+ hours a day.
I hate cheaters, but both ideas are bad:
1. Kill cam won't work here. It would be used for scouting enemy ship, checking how much loot they have, who they are etc. Bad idea in this kind of adventure game
2.Mandatory Safer Seas is a barrier for joining friends.
I will keep playing until Sea of Thieves 2, which BTW I believe is the only way to save Sea of Thieves (current game is in non-fixable state, too much spaghetti code).
rare doesent care dude, they will continue their ignorance
"Modern gamers" couldnt handle old CoD lobbies or even basic smack talk IRL. Thenmore you make something a sanitized hugbox, the more competitive types peace out and thats why HG is full of either cheaters. Because now if the only way to trash talk is behind a ban, then you may as well go all the way. By being a busy body, youve created a larger communoty issue. Instead of jist learning to handle it like an adult, or the correct notion of talking smack back.

@@ItzFoxUwU would you mind explaining why you think that a bit more? Just to help me understand. Thanks
