I wonder if they have a kimono large enough for me, GIGANTOR! At 194cm and 140kg I feel like they'd have to get a tent maker to dress me instead...lol. This looks like an absolutely amazing experience that I would definitely do if I could ever go there. Great video buddy.
I was wondering the same thing at 190cm 136kg it seems unlikely to find a premade kimono at our size, I wonder how expensive it would be to have it custom made
Roland, I'm 190 same weight I have a jinbe that 3L it a little tight so maybe 3L 4L will work. Because were tall we are not as big as someone shorter, the problem might be the kimono is short at 190 I need a 170cm kimono but someone told me it's ok if it short
@@RasmodeusQ if you try kimonoman (samurai Ginza) they specialize in men's kimono. It a little less than $2000 for a custom kimono, haori, juban, and obi they do it in 40~50 days
@@OFAMidoriya yeah... I'd rather just make my own and bring it with me if I go to Japan at that price thanks for the estimate. bonus points if I learn how to put it on and take it off on top of making it as accurate as possible to a "off the shelf" kimono
Harumi looked absolutely *gorgeous* and the obis she selected worked so well with the lace. Hinata was so cute! It was so fun to watch everyone choose their favorites and to watch the staff put you all together with such care and attention to detail. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon! Thank you for sharing your family and friends with us.
@@LetsaskShogo You are a beautiful family. Thank you for sharing this experience, and in the ways that you all did. I am amazed by how rich this experience of an outing actually is. It is so much more than getting in costume and taking photos. You literally step into a culture steeped in history. You are surrounded by art. You interactively are appreciating all of these fabrics and garments with substance and symbolism, beauty and history. You get to choose! And the sashes! And complementing outfits! I would love to learn how to turn a sash into such beautiful accent bows. I would not have imagined this outing to feel so memorable, but again, it is such a multi-layered experience, I feel as if it is an excursion I have had. I felt this way after exploring the Louvre in Paris. This is not about clothing; it is interactive fine art, and literal fabric of a culture.
so many things to say 😁 if you're up to it you should "repeat" this video when Nagi turns 3 with all four of you wearing kimonos, (I know they're not) Kazu and Tomoko make a nice couple, your children are growing up fast I enjoy watching family channels where "you" watch the children grow up ("My little homestead") also "you" can so much with your children dressing them up and taking them places etc., I really enjoy your channel 😁
We went to Kyolan last week, rented yukata for me, my wife, and my two daughters all because of this video. We even booked a photographer. We had a WONDERFUL time! Thanks for the recommendation. We are so glad we did this in Arashiyama!
This is exactly what I want to do when I get to visit Japan next year. Thank you so much for the awesome recommendation! 😊 And thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures of your family. So precious 💖
I didn’t have a huge desire to visit Japan until I started watching your videos. I’ve traveled to many places but you have really made me want to visit Kyoto one day. Learning about the history and purpose behind many of the traditions from a modern and adaptable persons point of view has been really interesting. You’re all great ambassadors for your culture.
Wow! It took me a while to realize, but this is the SAME kimono dresser that I went to with friends on my first trip to Kyoto last year! Excellent staff and care. The location is great, and the options are uncountable! I hope that you guys enjoyed the time!
I feel like I'd want to spend a whole year exploring Japan and all of its seasons. I love rain, want to experience the Cherry blossom, fall, and winter seasons
So many options to choose 😍 and as a result very well matched colours. Little Nagi and Hinata as always cuties. ❤️I’m happy that all of you gad so much fun. ✨ and that “I love you” part. You both are so lovely together. ❤️
Having been to Kyoto over 50 years ago, it was wonderful to see it once again and see how it has changed but not changed. There is an ephemeral beauty that is Kyoto.
Shogo this video is the best! I really love the process of choosing and picking the kimono! Harumi's kimono was my favorite! Hinata also looked cute as a button! She's got her mom's smile! Also, I was wondering what other occasions do you wear kimono for? The photos of you and your family and Tomoko and Kazu came out so good!
Thank you for leaving a comment! In Japan today we usually only wear kimono in special occasions such as ceremonies! But there are some people like us who wear it for training in traditional culture too😊
All of your videos are so informative and helpful, and they make me smile. But the thing that made me smile today was something more special. More special than the beautiful kitsuke you all display, more special than the bamboo forest: I heard you Shogo and Harumi say to one another that you love each other. I have so often heard that Japanese people don't typically say this, so when I heard it, it felt so special to me and it made my eyes misty. You are a beautiful family, with your open hearts. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
I have been to Japan a few times, but always near the Tokyo area. On our next holiday to Japan, hopefully in 2022, we plan to go to Osaka, and visit Kyoto. My daughter and I would love to wear kimonos and explore Kyoto. Thank you for sharing
Thank you all for sharing this hidden gem with us - I'm pleased to say we just booked our rental with Kyolan ready for our Japan trip later this year! ❤
Thanks for introducing me to this business. I was looking at rental shops and this one is about 5 minutes from my hotel. I cannot wait to use their service at the end of this month!

In comparison to Kazu, your kimono was more beautiful, Shogo (no offense to Kazu), but girls kimonos were 👍 Really beautiful park even under rain. Worth visiting shop indeed.
Hi Shogo! Thanks for the video and all the information. I just have a question which is would they be able to accommodate someone who is a little larger than normal? Im larger than most but i would really like to try wearing a kimono.
So I ware a body brace and it has to have clothing under it that is skin tight would a kimono still look OK? I haven't warn a dress in years thank to my braces for my feet to my back
