I bought two $10 mystery tech boxes from Visiontek. They should have graphics cards and graphics card-related stuff in them. I ended up getting some pretty weird graphics cards.

Maybe the words are printed upside down?
They're going to mount it in what ever position allows the most direct path to the expansion connector to minimize the number of vias.
After watching this video I ordered 2 of the $5 mystery boxes (the $10 ones were gone, out of stock). I didn't have high expectations as to speed of delivery or contents, but as it turns out they were delivered the next day, and the contents is not crap. One of them had a video card, a Radeon 9250 PCI (yes not PCI-express) with DMS59 output; I happen to have a DMS59 cable and I tested it in a pentium pro system, it works and will be useful for retro gaming systems. The other box has a Rockdoc mini USB speaker with rechargeable battery; it's small, cubic and pink. Very cute. And since it has a microSD slot it can also be used as a portable MP3 player. :)
These would have been an insanely good deal in 2021

Feels like kind of a reverse-loot. Having waded through the adventure-area, having slain the monsters,You happen upon the chest which has a coin operated lock on it. You toss in the gold coins to open it and there's a rusty sword in it with a broken blade and uncomfortable grip. Also a note: "You are too late my friend." You also could swear there's laughter can be heard from the unknown innards of the dungeon.
You sound like an awesome dungeon master. I'd watch videos of you just narrating your ideas for DM's.
I think that they do "Mystery boxes" like this just to get rid of junk that they can't sell. Broken graphics cards and obsolete models etc. Plus weird stuff like the charging stand.
I think that the limiting purchase thing is simply to avoid a situation where someone buys a ton of them expecting something good and then feels hugely ripped off. The boxes are sold "as-is" with "no return" so if someone spends $200 and gets 20 very old and broken graphics cards then they will kick up a fuss, leave bad reviews, complain to their customer services etc. Whereas if someone spends $20 and gets 2 old and broken graphics cards they're much more likely to take the hit, have a laugh over it, and chalk it up to experience.
I have that charger and it actually kind of rocks in the living room and helps with our cable management for our little family with small lighting connectors.
They've been doing these for a while! I remember buying Visiontek mystery boxes back in 2014 or so, so they were actually doing it before the big mystery box trend got going.
I think it's half trying to cut their losses on old inventory, half marketing stunt. Whether it's videos or written articles or word of mouth, mystery boxes generate buzz.
And I actually did get an AGP card in my box! A $50 box! In 2021! ...there was a 2x8gb kit of DDR4-3000 with RGB and a USB speaker as well, but still.
What card was it?

They used to have excellent retro cards, like legitimate collectors items, but it looks like they ran out of stock (and you could specify if you wanted AGP or PCIe, on the high end of AGP you basically got the Titan of the era). It was great for retro enthusiasts, but probably sold out fast due to scalpers reselling the cards at $100+ profits (as I said, it was mint in box, at least mint condition best AGP cards ever made), so that’s probably why they limit to 2x so that they don’t have a person buy a truckload then resell for profit. But it looks like those days are gone and they emptied out all the good stock.
Side note, you’re hard pressed to buy ANY GPU for under $5, I think the last test card I paid $4.95 in an EBay auction for an X1300 (it’s like 128 or 256 MB DDR3 Vram), because having a cheap test card that blows up instead of say my Titan is great for testing unknown hardware. PS, that X1300 did blow up when a monitor sent 110v AC mains directly through the VGA and tripped my house breakers 3 times before I figured out what the heck was going on, then saw the POP! after I turned off the lights. Saved my motherboard and the rest of the system, what a trooper! Oh I’ve also had a 270x Devil shoot lightning bolts through HDMI and blow up a TV (it was a perfect and steady arc from the card in my case, I wanted to turn it into a welder because it was more steady of an arc than I can do with $5k Miller MIG welders. So yeah, $hit happens, hence I test with potato parts beforehand!
The irony is that the charge stand is actually awesome. I own the same one, lol. Every port is fast charge (at the same time) - I regularly plug in 2 phones, a tablet, and a portable headphone DAC/amp. It sits on top of my pc case and having them stand vertically is a huge space saver. If you buy it new it comes with 5 short charge cables - 3 lightning, 1 usb c, and 1 micro-usb. 2 old, broken e-waste graphics cards are not very useful, but that charge station definitely is! Give it a shot.
you know what is messed up? I understand that this company offering low cost mystery box but, sending stuff broken that you pay for is still un moral even if its a bit of gambling and them saying no warranty is BS.

I usually love visiontek, I haven't really looked at them in years though. Maybe they are trying to clear out old inventory to make way for new? Last I seen, they was one of the best with lifetime support, but I also thought that of BFG too. I dunno, just my thoughts.
Put the broken one in an oven and try to fix it this way!

@@DawidDoesTechStuff You could also try bios flashing,maybe that does something and for the working one you have to install driver using device manager ,there is a guide on google on how to get old amd cards working with windows 10
or stick it in an old microwave and fry the crap out of it
I'd definitely look it over for cold solder joints and maybe you can touch em up and make it work. I've fixed all kinds of not working right or dead electronics from all kinds of equipment buy looking it over and reflowing the the pads. Get a nice low power iron and a good batch of desoldering braid or a quality solder sucker and go for it, nothing to loose now.
That's quite a way to pronounce 'Thirty'.

u literally just helped me so much i got an rx580 without uninstalling my 750ti's drivers and it was crashing so i uninstalled the driver for both did a fresh install for my 580 and it works normally now thanks so much for the accidental help

That USB charging stand could be more useful in an office environment or for older/retired folks, where you may have multiple tablets and phones that need charging and need to be kept together or stuff gets lost...

The way to get "legacy" GPUs to work in Windows 10 is to first install Build 1607 of Windows 10, then the GPU drivers, and drivers for anything else you have that's "legacy". Then upgrade straight to the latest build of Windows 10. After 1607 Windows 10 has deprecated previous driver signing methods used with Windows 7 and previous, but if the drivers are already installed under 1607 or older, post-1607 builds will leave the old drivers in place.
What happens when you try to install a driver for Windows 7 or older in post-1607 Win 10, it will go through the motions of installing but copying the files, adding Registry keys etc will be quietly blocked. If you then try a manual install by pointing Device Manager at the inf file, it will give you a BS "error" that it cannot find the file specified.
So if you're into legacy hardware, keep a fresh installed image of Win 10 Build 1607 handy.

How to know you've watched at least 10 Dawid videos: He has the same Alien Cat shirt on.
With the 4000 series on windows 10, the windows 10 installer sometimes installs the "extra" legacy drivers straight away on a fresh install. They are "better" than the ones you can download manually and i didn't have any luck trying to trick them into working on a 3000 card - even though the feature set is almost the same.

The hd 6350 would probably work if you oven baked it. I've fixed an hd 7870 that also artifacted by using a guide on oven baking a gpu.
This is almost always only a temporary fix. The GPU die would need to be reballed using a legit solder rework station for an actual fix.
It's a way to con there marks into paying them to have their trash shipped to you to throw out, rather than throwing it out themselves.
Try to reflow the defective card with some hot air, starting on the video memory to see if that fixes it, and if not then the GPU.

I had a passively-cooled MSI HD4350 back in the BF2 days... It wasn't that bad back then. Got me to playable framerates compared to the integrated graphics on my Dimension E521 lol
My job just tossed a bunch of dell xeon work computers and they had a bunch of gpus that looked like the ones you got.
I got two super low end radeons in the $5 mystery boxes in 2018. And a really budget level agp card. All of them worked, but they were worth maybe $2 a pop. I think the AGP card wasn't even worth a buck.
At least I got a pair of headphones with the AGP card. They didn't work though.
I think I am going to take all the computer junk I have, place in a box and call it mystery tech.
Heh, I could actually use that charging station. For my work I need to have two test phones around at all times, plus my persona device.
They're nice to haves when you have a lot of devices, but useless otherwise.

This is, at this point, an old video, and you're likely never to read this. But I still wanted to throw a comment into the void; that charging station isn't entirely useless. I'm a developer at a web/mobile app agency, and back in the days before we had an office we had ~8 or so devices of various android/iOS versions for testing things on physical hardware, and with that came the need to keep those devices alive. We actually had two of those things going in a dark corner of the office at all times.
So you seem to building up a crate full of leprechaun sized gpu, I think you should do a monster 4 way sli build with 710's 😂👌
Next challenge- buy a random pc case ($40 or less) and then you get to order $300-$400 of mystery boxes and you have to make a eorking pc as best as you can. If possible. Id like to see your MacGyver kick in.
Try to install the drivers via the Windows Update, I did this for my 4850 in Windows 10 and it was working better than the drivers on the AMD's website.

Aye, what are you talking about? The Radeon HD 4650m in my laptop works perfectly fine with Windows 10 and the last beta driver, and that's with a normal install.

Yeah uhm, that multiple charger slots thing.. I was kinda smiling when you said it was crap because my SO bought the exact same one but in a different color. But hey it works! (I just never use it because I have a fat fast charging charger and it's miles better)
Some others have made good points but it may also be possible that they limit your purchase to two so that the shipping department is not overwhelmed. I imagine they don't have a lot of man-hours tied up into fulfilling these or they would rather they not.
These multi chargers are not that useless. One of my customers use them to charge barcode scanners at their warehouse. And I think they paid like 100€ for them...

The working GPU is great for a low cost emulation PC, well 8 bit and 16 bit.
FYI they sell these graphics cards on their website today for $50-$70. Seems your long term investment paid some small dividend

Visiontek is just a regular AMD GPU board partner. They have been doing this for many years. I guess they just sell old stock or returns that end up working.
