*GREAT TOPIC!!! That's exactly what I always say. Chanel No 5 (and Shalimar) are wonderful on men. I've even said it in one of my videos I think... or on FB, I don't remember..., that I find Chanel No 5 smells even BETTER on a man. It's more special. It's so well known and such a legend that it's almost boring when a woman wears it. But on a man it's a head-turner.*

Not only do I wear this, but I get excited to wear it. It’s fucking awesome. TH-cam bros will wear sweet vanilla cupcake gourmands as long as its in a “masculine” bottle but are scared to wear a timeless classic. I just read the secret of Chanel no 5, if you haven’t read it I know you’d love it. Awesome video!

J Fosco I’m reading it right now! I actually talked about it originally in the video but it was getting too long so I cut that part out. Love your comment thanks for watching!

I (as a man) have been wearing this for 10 years. The parfum is my favorite incarnation. I work in a hospital and the parfum version is the softest closest most lingering. People comment all the time on the wonderful smell and not many guess it's me! Haha! IMO the EDT smells the most masculine with the sandalwood peaking through. Thanks so much for reviewing and giving another masculine perspective!

Once at airport my dad and I were checking shops, and I came across this perfume, I honestly couldn't tell if it wasnt for men. I told my dad "this smells great" he replied saying "its N°5" he sounds like why would anyone think it smell bad 😂

I'll have to get a sample of this and give it a try! Having had more floral driven fragrances and enjoyed them such as burberry brit, dior homme intense, and neroli portofino and neroli by le labo ill have to give this a try! Thanks for opening my eyes to this! Great review!

I just got a sample today with a purchase and I was blown away. I figured it would be really heavy and 1920s-ish. My preconceptions were wrong! It’s smells great on me. I have zero trouble wearing “perfumes”. I don’t care! LOLs 😝 this is definitely going into my rotation!

Great video! No. 5 has been my signature fragrance for over a decade now. I prefer the EDP, but the EDT works well, too, if you haven't tried it by now. The dry down is more woody yet, and those aldehydes sure do sparkle on top. The EDT stays closer to my skin; it's more reserved than the EDP. I tend to reach for the EDT in the fall and the EDP in the winter.
Other typically "feminine" fragrances that work really well on me: Youth-Dew by Estee Lauder, Aromatics Elixir by Clinique, and Obsession by Calvin Klein.

I worship Number 5. It was my mother’s favorite when I was a child but it smells totally different on me, so I don’t have any mummy’s connotations. And still if I would Chanel N5 is such a wonderful piece of history and is so perfectly well blended that I don’t care.
My first approach was the eau de parfum, people said I smelled clean. However I sprayed it on Marilyn Monroe’s crypt so the smell made me feel sad afterwards.
My favorites are Eau premiere, the pure parfum and the original eau de toilette which I consider is the one that better suits a guy.
Still, no matter what version you choose, N5 is worth being used and enjoyed by either genders.
    Lovely video by the way!

This is really weird-- I was having a little mini fragrance party last weekend and a female friend had that exact same bottle of the current EDP, and I smelled it with an open mind, without previous associations, and really, really liked it. It seemed so modern to me, and I immediately wanted to wear it, but I felt crazy asking. I should have asked! I have to wear it now.

I just sprayed the room with that very bottle of Chanel. Love it. I wear it. I mean, I do not wear it where there are a lot of men, but, when I go to a more formal event, yea, it can work. I sometimes wear deep florals to bed since I normally would not wear them with regularity in the default world. I adore Carnal Flower, Narcotic Venus, Azzuree, Black Violet, Velvet Gardenia, or my 1930 bottle of the most elegant leather perfume called El Ducle by Egizia.

I've been wondering about this subject of No.5 for men quite a long time and then came across this haha, looks like I'll put my mind to rest and give it a go. Currently I'm addicted to AG Cloud and it is a no brainer value for money total banger that gets compliments, and IMO smells far better than the expensive rouge 540 that it supposedly imitates. Many thanks for this video.

Back again 4 months on, So I bought a 30 ml bottle and fell in love with it. It's also great for layering, indeed it's a regular now, I've just bought a 100ml bottle. I did read somewhere that if you're not taken with this fragrance, then wear it for a week, which I did and fell in love with it.

wearing no.5 as a man is a pure definition of anima. It can be wonderful on a man ( no age restrictions actually ) who understands his personality and owns his feminine particle.

I bought a Chanel No.5 parfum seven years ago in Paris. I finally opened the bottle and started using it! I must say that the fragrance is perfect for women and men. It just has this nice neutral smell that is not too feminine which makes it suitable for a man to wear. Love it!

I don’t have No. 5 yet but man, I’m obsessed with N. 5 classic oval bar of soap that I store and stash my dresser to keep my clothes smelling fragrant! Every time I pull out a shirt, my clothes smell amazing! Mind you, I’m female in my early 50s now and no one in my family ever worn Chanel. I discovered Chanel from a girl who wore Coco Chanel in high school. So I ended up buying one for myself in my 30s when I had a good job and was able to afford it. Then my ex boyfriend got me Coco Mademoiselle. Now your video has me thinking what better time to get N. 5 OG perfume. As a I’m woman of mature age, this would be a “rite of passage” entering into a true class fragrance. I no longer wear synthetic smelling cheapies. My style and taste have changed over the years. I want to feel like I command the room with class and dignity. I don’t want to smell like some show girl in the backstage at a strip club 😂😂 I agree, men wear it well with Chanel 5. Thank you Josh for sharing!

Josh. Now you should give SuperDacob a try, you know, take a look at his channel, you will like what he does with the Chanel brand (oh and let's not forget Lanier Smith) So yeah, C5? Brave and bold boy for pushing this subject but do you know what? People would be amazed just how many men are using C5, believe me we are out there. It's all about Oud these days but that ship has already sailed and has become so boring. A shame some reviewers didn't see the ship leaving dock but don't let them/that put you off, you keep pushing forward and make this fragrance reviewing game actually entertaining.

Great topic, Josh! I have heard of the No5/Shalimar thing a bit. I have never personally tried it myself. Maybe I will pick up a decant if I see one for cheap and try it out. Does this only go for the EDP or any version? I think there are 4 versions?

    • @smellslikejosh2406
      @smellslikejosh2406  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

John I’d say any version but mainly the EDP, EDT and Pure Parfum since they’re patterned after the original versions. Eau Premiere is nice too it’s a lighter more youthful version that I also own and like. L’eau is the newest and is ok but doesn’t smell much like No. 5.
