- My take on the 1990 release by the house of Chanel Egoiste Pour Homme which is a classy warm spicy vanilla scent which is best for formal evening wear in my opinion.

Great review as always. Egoiste is my only go-to for very special occasions. I like it so much that I don't really need other fragrances for such classy situations. That's the main reason I didn't pick up Bentley for Men Intense when its hype was raging.
Another outstanding review! I completely agree that Platinum is underwhelming, while Egoiste is quite beautiful and truly classic. I love the fact that a young guy like you appreciates the classics.

Nice review sir. I tried both this and the platinum version last week as I was visiting the east coast. Both pretty different but awesome in their own ways. Enjoying Versace Dreamer today.
Brett I need to revisit platinum I just didn’t really give it a chance to be honest, my first impression though I felt it was very metallic and not what I was expecting but people rave about it so I should give it another try

The dry down is amazing, isn’t it? The rose is present until the very end, but it becomes more and more subtle, slowly melting into my very favorite part of the dry down: the creamy and smooth, but paradoxically dry and woody, vanilla-y finish. This stage is truly divine!

A few years ago they had everything, deo spray, soap bar, shave cream etc., and they had the shower gel which is absolutely gorgeous, if you ever can get one on ebay: buy it, whatever it may cost! 😉 BR, Dan

I'm deffo going to circle back to this one as well, especially in my new search for that perfect rose scent. The classic old school colognes may be more difficult to find as the newer metrosexual millenial smells replace them.

Great review! Egoiste and actually Platinum Egoiste are my 2 favorites! They are so very different…Platinum is fresh, clean and perfect for office setting. Egoiste is spicy, smooth and calming. Absolutely LOVE them both! Jacque Polge at his BEST!!!!

So I've currently got Platinum Egoiste and Eau Sauvage EDT.. really wanna get their darker counterparts (Egoiste and Eau Sauvage Parfum), of those two, which would you say is better ?

This has been my goto fall and winter date night fragrance for a couple of years. It's kind of a one trick pony to me but it's damn good for what I use it for

or the original Eau Sauvage by Christian Dior . I rarely wear fragrance but these are my favorites .

Very Nice Kelan...I found a 125ml Chanel Egoiste for 180 bucks was wondering if it was a good idea to buy at that price and wanted to no how it smells....So Nice Review Kelan...I do not want it if it has a strong Vanilla scent...Sick of Vanilla....After shave bottles are always weaker then the EDT or EDP.....That i learned......
180 sounds high I feel like it’s about 90-100 at the retail level for the 100ml but it’s a great sandalwood scent I don’t get a strong vanilla from it. I love it but sample it if possible before buying
This is a true masterpiece that's timeless. In fact, Jacques Polge, its creator, said this is his favorite creation of all. I used to own Egoiste Eau de Toilette Concentree in the early 90s and I really miss it. It was much more potent and richer. I'd jump on it if Chanel brings it back.

@@ScentsOfSouthJersey Yes, when Chanel had the Concentree versions in the 80s and 90s, they were really potent and long-lasting. In fact, I still have Pour Monsieur EDT Concentree that's probably from the early 90s and it's still very much like it was when it was new.

Like the channel fella. I have 2 older 100ml bottles of Platinum which are labelled 'Egoiste Platinum' rather than 'Platinum Egoiste'. I also have a 50ml of Egoiste. Personally, I prefer the vintage Platinum.

I’ve had Platinum off and on for the last 20 years. Just got a fresh bottle a couple days ago, and it’s def not the powerhouse it used to be. I could get away w one spray on my neck and u could smell it all day. If I sprayed it in my clothes and my neck, you could smell it on my dirty clothes hamper by the end of the week 😅.
this cologne get better through out the day lol it definately turns heads. it just smells like kiss me now. it also has rose water and bergamot def on your wrist and neck.
Amazing scent, in my top 10 GOAT. * I found the Platinum too metallic and clawing. Not magical, unlike the original.

That's Perry Ellis Portfolio Elite, blue Bottle with black cap, also Legesi from Armaf is a dupe of Platinum Egoïste.
Other fact is that Perry Ellis 2018 is a great dupe of Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce.
Hard to find, but brilliant scent. Platinum Egoiste is a totally different scent, and fantastic as well. Egoiste Sandalwood = bliss.
Frank Katsaros the sandalwood is amazing in this one you are right. Totally blew me away. And maybe that’s why I was not thrilled with platinum on first and only impression because it was so different from the original
No, platinum egoist is not a nice parfum and lacks character. Platinum egoist was only invented to cater to the poor taste of rubes and boost sales. I understand it; you also have Prada who decided that they should put their print on tracksuits. It is all about the marketing and sales. However, not for me.

I have the current formula and it’s pretty good, not as good as kouros though in my opinion

Jacques polge (the former perfumer of chanel and creator of egoiste) said in a n interview that from all the fragrances he has created for chanel egoiste is his favourite creation.
Also egoiste was inspired according to jacques polge from bois des iles a 1926 feminine fragrance which it's still in production today in the les exclusifs line .

Scents Of South Jersey no worries. Terre D’Hermes is a popular scent but I’ll keep a look out for some hidden gems.
I'll send you guys a sample of the Terre D'Hermes, but I no problem, just say so. It's ok, but not wow, just like the Platinum. The Egoiste is absolutely WOW!

Hi Cavella .It has warm spices and sweetness. It's definition for female fragrance. Like CK Obsession. Platinum Egoiste is cold like steel, unpleasant but much better than this one.

it's a little strange that you don't like Platinum Egoiste, one of the best fougère/barbershop fragrance ever.
I just remembered it being very metallic when I tried it the first two times, I did however try it again in a store a few months ago and just one spray this time and it smelled much greener much better so maybe I’ll get a bottle and use it slightly
