Chanel No. 5 is my favorite scent. It really is a big deviation from all these foodie scents these days. I am a gourmand lover, yet the original and old No. 5 has become (ironically) a breath of fresh air from all these saccharine-based notes. As a No. 5 lover, No.5 L'eau is a major evolution from that of the original, but it doesn't disappoint. The Eau Premiere was the disappointment in my opinion though. No.5 L'eau has this Olivier Polge-ish opening. Something new, trendy (in Chanel), and modern. But as you get to immerse yourself in the middle notes, a shadow of its pioneer (No. 5) subtly yet elegantly kicks in. That is - on point - the reason I love it because it still manages to give credence to its originator (unlike other flankers like Poison Girl [I own the vintage Poison and Poison Girl, and gosh, it is like millenniums away from each other]). I wore this one summer night here in the Philippines, and all the agents I had dinner with complimented me. One even really asked me what I was wearing, but I don't disclose my fragrances for the reason that it is like revealing your inner soul. This isn't a heavy fragrance, but I believe it was designed to be that way. It is perfect for a closed room encounter only. It doesn't scream at the top of its lungs screaming, "I'm wearing a perfume! Notice me!" Love your reviews, Steve. Please, review more Chanel masterpieces! Much love from the Philippines! 🇵🇭❤️

Aldehydes are in fact found in nature.. you can find it in cilantro, many herbs, rose oil, soap, champagne, wax and more. It’s more of a sensation than a scent. Anyway great review!
I FELL IN LOVE with this scent today. On me the dry down is vanilla and orris 100% and im in love, its an airy light vanilla. UGH works with my body chem like no other perfume has. I don't like no. 5 it is too heavy for me and mature, this one is like no. 5 but airy and light just as you two described. Am I the only one picking up on the vanilla base?
I love this perfume. I have a lot of other perfumes that I use daily, but whenever I come back to Chanel no 5 l'eau I feel that it's totally different from the rest. It's something new in this composition. The aldehydes are used in very good way, not too much but enought to make this fragrance uniqe. 10/10 for me 😍

Chanel has a market niche that they cultivated over the years. Quite successful. I do not appreciate the scent to the extent needed to recommend it to the masses, however I cannot dismiss it out of hand. I have smelled it on a few women and it was great. But very few. Skin chemistry, I suppose. I like you two together. Juxtapositions on occasion. Very nice review. Thank you gentlemen...
I love this stuff and bought a bottle. I wear it at home when I need something to lift my spirits. It doesn’t make sense with my work wardrobe so I don’t wear it at work. But it’s high quality, beautiful and optimistic if s fragrance can be that.
I’m 51 now and have been a Coco Chanel original fan for years until they reformulated the Coco Chanel and was very sad and disappointed. I don’t like the original Chanel 5 because it’s too grandma-ish even though I’m a young Nana now but don’t look like one. The L’eau sample I tried is not too bad on my skin chemistry. The dry down is very nice that I can wear at home. I hear that the new Eau Premiere is much better and has more gourmand touch with modern twist appeal to the Chanel 5. I currently own Chanel Chance and absolutely love it and the adelhydes is great for that one. I really wish they bring back the original CoCo Chanel. That was my ride or die fragrance forever!
I am 35 years old and i love this parfume. Just bought myself a 100 ml bottle. I wish there was a EDF of it. But theres not. The première smells totally different to me. I like that one too but a bit less than leau.
Hi, guys! For me- #5 EDT smells so much better than the regular #5. And even though I own #5...I really don’t like it. I get an instant headache and nausea. I believe it comes from the aldehydes. But every woman that has a lot of perfume should own # 5 even if u don’t use it.
i prefer Chanel No. 5 L' eau, more that tradicional Chanel no 5, it's more versatile, for a woman who wants attention, but without exaggeration, not like the tradicional, it's like a renewal for a woman who prefers presence and intellectuality, and not only impose an image. It's the scent of the woman on this time.
IMO aldehydic fragrances are all about body chemistry, much more so than other types of fragrances in general. The original 5 works very well with my body chemistry, but I can see how it would smell grannyish on others. On me, it pulls very warm and almost sweet, and my husband reads it as very sexy and sophisticated. Because I own the original, I'm less inclined to pick up a flanker.
I prefer Chanel no.19 poudre. If only i can wait for the base to come out of chanel no. 5 edp, The dry down is amazing and glorious which i dont get on the first spray, i have to wait for hours to smell all the floral goodness. Im not so patient with it like "I want the dry down now!!"

Well in my collection right now I have Joy, 1000, and Sublime (the youngster) from Jean Patou... I am 59 and I have been wearing these fragrances since 1979🤣😬🥰. Do not worry 😱I own perfumes from this century as well🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This version of number 5 is more tolerable for me. And yes I mean TOLERABLE. Chanel number 5 might be overrated now adays. It’s popular due to the name. Very rarely do I smell Chanel number 5 on someone and am blown away. Usually number 5 smells horrible to me lol. This version is better though.

Soapy and breezy, like Dove soap, Nivea , Caress original soap. It also smells like stereotypical baby wipes or baby shampoo by Johnson & Johnson.

Great video as always. I have a feeling that in 2021 there will be a 100th anniversary collectors edition of No. 5 and it will be an epic re-release.
There's already been one in 2018 strangely and they did red limited edition bottles for Chanel no.5 and Chanel no.5 leau
