      @@amradzinovic4086 What stupid about it? For your knowledge not everyone has the same smell perception, only a few people can sense a large number of chemicals. We are all different. If your pallet is limited it will affect your perception of particular fragrance to the point that it will be unbearable or at least very unbalanced. There is a brand of science called sensory, go and educate yourself.

    You learn about Chanel No5 best by wearing it. A little goes a long way. Just tiny bit on your wrist early in the morning and let it 'dry down' over a few hours because it needs to bed down into your skin. I adore No5 - it makes me feel confident and sexy (even as a fifty-something!) This perfume deserves respect. You need to give it time and treat it gently, then it will reward you.

    I love Chanel N°5 this timeless fragrance smells wonderful On my skin doesn’t smell like old lady when people smell it on me they actually love it I feel like it was made for me and funny enough I get nostalgic feelings when I smell it and mind you I never smelled this fragrance before but I feel like I worn in it in another lifetime!! Perfect Gift to give

      I think people have an association with no5 because of when it was made. If they know? it's a jerk reaction. A blind test would be so different, especially in the dry down. I'm guilty myself of disregarding it as stuffy and ancient, then my mum wore this around me and I saw the beauty, still vintage smelling and not to everyones taste but an undeniable classic.

    The first time I smelled it I didnt like it but I decided to spray it on and ended up really liking it after it dried down a bit...I had minor knee surgery last november and I was so nervous and scared; the nurse brought me a warm bedsheet to comfort me before I went into the operating room, I clutched it and suddenly a smell filled my nose, it smelled like fresh slightly spicy laundry...it almost smelled like chanel no 5 haha! I smiled to myself,calm at last😇I'm now obsessed with this perfume and will have to buy it😋

    Chanel did a great job of adding formulations, not replacing them, unlike Dior. The original 1921 formula is still around and is the Parfum concentration. The Eau de perfume is the 1986 formula and hasn’t changed. L’eau and Premiere were added as updated versions. It’s a classic that really blends well with the chemistry in my family 🥰

      This is wrong. The current EDP (especially post-IFRA) is different from EDP from even 10 years ago. EDP from 20 years ago is very different. Parfum extrait is not as smoky and deep and animalic as the vintage extrait.

    I’m only 30 and I’d heard stories from my mum that my Nan used to wear no5 when my mum was younger and it wasn’t very well liked because it was really heavy and strong. So I was really surprised when I tried it tuesday that I liked it. In fact I liked it so much that I purchased the original no5 the l’eau no5 and the no5 eau premiere along with chanel coco.

    Great video 👍🏻🤗🤩 I love Chanel 5 - but I like edt more than edp . Edt it's more coca cola vibe , fresh citrus , powdery mix . Totaly one of a kind !!!!
    It was quite long road to finally love it 😉. I think it comes at some " age " ( 😱🤪🤣)- you have to be grown up enough , to love it . And mostly is that there are only two ways : You love it or You hate it . 😍🤩

    So, hear me out darling, as I am someone who swore for years I would never touch Chanel 5, a committed hater of aldehydes (though I adored some of the Les Exclusives)!! However, as one becomes more familiar w/ the Chanel DNA (through Exclusives perhaps), one slowly but surely will find her/his way to the source!!! It is a bit like developing a pallet for good wine, a sophisticated pallet only grows through time and education. I promise you, you will LOVE this perfume b/c it is a work of art and timeless, not unlike the Mona Lisa!! Let me know when you are a convert 😉. You want a modern 5, smell Eau Premiere.

    Chanel no5 was one that i smelled growing up, but once i bought the most recent version, it was a pale shadow of what it once was.
    It used to be powdery and similar to what it is now, but it had a very unique...floral-y, smokey..sweet drydown.
    My experience with it is to try the edt, in the tall bottle with black lid; its a lot closer to what the older edp smelled like

    Oh ouch my lovely best reviewer of fragrance, please get a fresher bottle to try, and let it settle for an hour you WILL change your mind , stale perfume is not the best way to try this stunner. Or hun please try the pure Parfum, it’s a bit different to the edp. Not every one loves the edp , although I do , but Parfum is stunningly beautiful, more soft and creamy,you should enjoy that version. Lastly I think you would fall in love with the elixir version, it’s more woody in the best way. I love all the versions it’s yummy yummy yummy ! it will grab you in some version one day I bet you a fiver , haha :)

    I love your review, your description totally resonates with my experience of this one. I agree about the subtle resinous aspect, and the dustiness that tickles my nose a bit. The drydown is heaven, more so when I have it on shoulder skin (fewer sweat glands there so it doesn't fall apart, or go sour, tmi) the No.5 edp does feel very much related to Coco Thanks.

    My mother wore this, and I started wearing it in the early 80s. It was the only fragrance I wore, and did so for years. It was the gift I wanted every Christmas and was a staple for me, wearing it for years, then moved away from it. I recently purchased it, and was not in love any more! Not as I remembered all those years ago. It seems heavy..I love Coco Mademoiselle so will stick with that.

    Sorry but you are showing an EDP spray. That bottle was launched in the very late 1990es. At first in 50 and 100 ml. The 200 ml around 2010 and the latest is the tiny 35 ml (previously a flat atomizer with a black cap).When you see the current colour (light yellow) of the post 2015 EDP yours seems to be that gorgeous greasy 80es vanillic sandalwood. The EDP was created and released in 1986.

    Yay finally! :-) Would also love to hear your opinion on N 5 Eau Premiere, which got me to understand Chanel N5 for the first time.
    Considering the EdP was created only in 1986, the closest you will get to the original 1921 formulation is by smelling the pure parfum or the EdT, which were created in the 1920s. As Katie Puckrik says: "The 1980s era Eau de Parfum is like a carricature of the original Eau de Toilette, drawn with a big fat marker pin." ;)

    This one only works on some people. I only knew one person who it smelled good on. It didn't even seem like perfume more like an aura for her and none of the nastiness that it had on others. I like the Parfum current version, and the L'eau which seems best suited for young girls or boys and men in general. Batches of perfumes by Chanel made 2019 onwards is watered down extremely except for the Parfum now. And even the parfum are not what a parfum level quality/longevity should be for the price and tiny quantity they give you.

    I don't like No. 5 either. It's too powdery and aldehydic for me. But I watched your review 2 times because I always wanted to know why a lot of people love it that much :D.
    I liked the addition of music to the video, but I think it's a bit loud.

    Its funny how people smell all kinds of scent ingredients in this fragrance. I mainly only get alcohol. I smell strong alcohol in all notes, a bit of bitterness, something strong chemically hospital-like and sometimes a little citrus/absinthe. But mainly alcohol. Its both when smelled in the bottle and on my skin. I know its authentic and I got it on Notino and paid a fortune to get it imported to Northern Scandinavia and I was so sure I would like it as I love many fragrances this is compared to. So I made my first blind buy on Chanel No 5 and I can't even gift this to anybody because people hate it. My mom got a headache and said it reeked of gone off cleaning chemicals, 2 of my friends said it was pure alcohol and didn't like it and the second hand store I tried, didn't believe me when I said it hadn't gone off ...

    Dear Thomas, Please try the vintage pure parfum. Edp and EDT versions are completely different. I have a pretty big collection of Chanel fragrances. Kind of Chanel hoarder/ addict. The EDP is more aldehydic whereas the Parfum is rich, warm and sandalwood in the drydown. Also, only in the pure parfum their Gras jasmin is being used. If you would like to identify the age of the bottle, there is a barcode engraved at the back of the bottle. Kind regards, Anna

    Y’all do know that Ambergris is whale poop and in many high end fragrances, put there to make the fragrance last longer.
    Yeah we are all proudly wearing whale poop. What must the whale be thinking....lol 😂

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, it's not exactly poop, it's more like a lining that the whale produces to protect itself from squid beaks. Either way it's nasty but still the most precious perfume ingredient that exists!

    I smelled the EDT at a store a couple years ago and while I didn't dislike it as I used to, I still didn't *like* it.
    Buuut then, I decided to get a few vintage bottles and see how I felt. I have 3 (different sizes); 2 EDP and one pure parfum. I don't know if it's the different "concentrations", or the fact that they're vintage, but they smell SO much better than the EDT I remember. The buttery nuance you describe is there. The powder is like velvet. It reminds me of my grandmother in the best way-- It's comforting and calming, with this relaxed sensuality beneath. Sometimes I detect a hint of something like cola, and can't put my finger on what it is.
    Glad that you are beginning to enjoy this fragrance! It's a great feeling to find you've developed an appreciation for a scent after revisiting it. And how lucky you are to have that older bottle! :)

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! I totally get the spice but can't quite figure it out. This one is really one that needs to be in the air instead of close up, it's like the air infuses and makes it what it's supposed to be. So weird.... :)

      It’s not old it’s a beautiful classic. One day todays newer perfumes will be old in that sense because new styles will take over and what’s hot today may not be in 50 years time, no 5 is still going to have a following, we Me a least lol ;)
