    Never used a groove box before. The MV-1 is my first introduction into producing. Your videos are a friggin godsend. Thanks brotha!

      Glad to be of service. As with any instrument, or discipline, the more you put into the device, the more you'll get out of it. Stick with it! (My first couple of months with the verselab were a bit... Rough. I was discouraged, and nearly got rid of it.)

    Thank you for all the Verselab videos! I've got them all saved for reference. I've never used any kind of groovebox, sampler, or DAW, so these guides are extremely helpful at showing me all the less obvious features.

      Thank you. Comments like yours are what keep me motivated. If you get stuck, along the way, let me know, I'm certainly willing to help (the "Roland MV-1 Verselab Users" group on Facebook also has a lot of members who like to help, including one of the instructors for Roland Cloud Academy).

      @@LeRoy3rdI'll be sure to check that out as well. I'm taking the beginner Roland Academy course in a few weeks. The Verselab users seem to be a passionate little community. With all I keep learning it can do and how affordable it is, I'd think it would be more popular.
      I got it to make simple accompaniments while I learn piano, so you showing how things relate to the midi keyboard is very beneficial. It ties all in learning together.

      @@DavidWolfberg That's nice to hear. Unfortunately my health issues make something like that impossible. 😭 Just making these videos around once a week tires me out for a couple of days.

    just got a verselab, mostly got it for sounds to use with my MPC live 2 but I really want to try the vocal stuff on the verselab and song building just inside this box. Your videos look like they are going to help me a lot once i get with it!

      Thanks for joining us, it's nice to have you! I've got a video up on the process of exporting a song, and we'll be looking at Vocal Takes in SONG mode a couple of videos from now. 🙂

    I learned more about the MV1 in this video. When is the next firmware coming?

    • @LeRoy3rd
      @LeRoy3rd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no affiliation with Roland, so I have no idea. There's no guarantee we'll even see another firmware update. Personally, I expect to see at least one more update (they've laid the ground work to allow us to do sound design, like on the MC-101), but this could just be wishful thinking on my part.

    • @LeRoy3rd
      @LeRoy3rd  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In unrelated news, I've done the groundwork, and made outlines, for a handful of other verselab videos (hopefully I'll be able to make a video on Vocal Takes in the near future), but things have been a bit complicated in my life lately...

    Amazing video…is there a way to disable my parameter control knobs ? My 1st control knob is acting glitchy and wanted to turn off as a master to where I don’t have to turn off manually on every session

      @@TheonlyMrlab They're assignable for parameters, so you could make a default project, but, then, there's no way to turn them off in, say, the menu, which is what I think you're asking. I could see how that could cause problems if they were acting up. I'd definitely suggest contacting support, you'll probably need to send it in for repair, unfortunately. 😢

    what folder do i add wave files on the sd card?

    • @LeRoy3rd
      @LeRoy3rd  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jordanWAH I don't have the verselab in front of me, but I believe it's ROLAND/MV/SAMPLES
      You can put both files AND folders in this directory. Inside the correct folder you'll see a folder already there from the verselab called "EXPORT", this is where all exported files go, from the sampling engine. The samples folder is the only folder that is accessible ON the verselab, so, unfortunately, the MIXOUT folder, which is outside the sample folder, is not accessible on the verselab itself, only from accessing SD card in a computer..

    • @jordanWAH
      @jordanWAH 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LeRoy3rd thanks. That's correct. It only works with wave files I think.
      Put each wave samples in either drum, tone or loop folder. I was able to finally create my own drum kit.
      You can also replace all other drum or melodic tracks with any preset you choose. It doesn't have to be bass for bass, or whatever. It only effects the style/chord patterns for drum tracks or arpeggios for melodic tracks.

    • @LeRoy3rd
      @LeRoy3rd  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jordanWAH It's also worth noting that drum vs melodic tracks affect how the pads effect the sounds. The drum tracks (except KIT) are triggers, the melodic tracks (and KIT) are gates, and this can't be changed (except by loading a clip with the opposite function, but then if you change the sample or preset, it defaults back). I don't think this is an issue with synth presets, only samples.
      As to using different folders, you can use whatever sub-folders you want, and even sub-folders inside the sub-folders. I'm really organized so I use a lot of different folders and sub-folders to keep things organized and easily accessible.

    woohoo!
    SHIFT + Scroll knob makes it scroll quicker?

    • @LeRoy3rd
      @LeRoy3rd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Often. This also works with the value knob, and on presets, and other menus. 🙂 It would be nice if we had further options, especially when editing samples, to make it scroll more quickly, but then, that just goes on the list with all the other things we want, lol. In scrolling through to edit sample start/end times, we only use ONE knob... Why they didn't at least allow two knobs is beyond me (could be, say 1/100 normally, and 1k/10k with shift, perhaps?). All I can think is, perhaps, Roland didn't intend, or anticipate people actually using this for samples. It kind of seems like the entire sampling engine was kind of an afterthought.
