I've made a handful of videos on the Verselab, on TH-cam, and thinking about it like it's a groove box is always going to make the experience more frustrating. There are certainly plenty of odd omissions, and strange bits of workflow, but once I just leaned into what it was designed to do, it made it much easier to wrap my head around.

Hi ! You probably mentioned this in the video, not watched it entirely :) But you can have 32 measures per pattern actually, if you divide the tempo by two, and set the clip scale to 1/8 instead of 1/16. Then you need to disable quantization. ALSO, if you still feel limited with 16 patterns of 32 measures you can overdub sections with the audio (vocal) track. 12 mins of mono audio or 6 mins of stereo audio. It's independant from the patterns data so it can add a lot of diversity :)

I didn't mention that in the video, but I assumed it would work haha. Thanks for confirming!

You can easily copy and paste sections by holding the copy botton. Shame with deleting. My favorite feature on the MV1 is the Mastering!

This is a underrated piece of gear. I wonder how many people would pick the Woovebox over this.

The Woovebox is my second favorite groovebox of all time, right behind the Dirtywave M8 haha. The Verselab is growing on me though!

Very different design and focus and price between those units. This Roland competes more with the MPC One. And without pads something like the digitakt or a used MC-707

I watched you do the intro. I don’t think it is you that makes it hard, it is definitely Roland bad workflow design. Not in a million years would I like to use this device as a groove box. Same goes for my MC-101, it is pretty ok to use it as a midi sound module and have a really working groove box (a.k.a. Deluge) sequence it, but I have really given up on trying to use it standalone, it is just no fun in my opinion.

@@jantuitmanI've made a handful of videos about the verselab (here on TH-cam) , and this is what people get wrong about it, all the time. It's NOT a groove box, if you go into it with that mindset, it's always going to be frustrating.

@@LeRoy3rd okay, I am curious, will watch some of your vids.

I'm about to sell my MV-1 because you cannot pitch bend from a normal midi controller pitch bend, unless I am missing something.

I connected my Novation Launchkey 49 MK3 to the MV-1 with MIDI-DIN and I can pitchbend without problems. I programmed the knobs and pads of the Launchkey to control volume of all 8 tracks and the knobs to change tone effects (attack/decay/etc) on the MV-1.

Hi ! Something must be wrong with your settings ! You can record tons of information from the controller : pitchbend, modwhell, aftertouch, velocity, breath etc. ! Do you have the 1.8 firmware ?
