Hi Oguz, hello and welcome to the channel. Yes you are correct. When I tested the Red Rear hub protector for the accessories video, about a week later I noticed the rear hub was very warm... so I removed it and went back out for another 30 minute ride. And the hub was then much cooler. I have removed the protector and will not be fitting another one. Thankyou for sharing this. Best wishes Carl
I dont even own a gsa, yet. But but ive now spent most of the day watching most all of you're videos you've put out on the gsa. Vary well done I like all but the accessories video a nice touch as they add up quickly. Keep up the great work 👍 👏!!
Hi Chad, welcome to the channel and thank you 🙏 for your comment, It made me smile this morning 🙋🏻♂️. Yes adding accessories can be very expensive but sone good quality products can be found at lower prices. Enjoy your Sunday Carl
Really enjoying the videos as I have exactly the same model of the GS purchased in May, now with 10,000K recorded. Never wanted a GS because everyone else has one. Now I can see why. They are brilliant. Keep up the good work.
My 15 GSA is up for sale, I bought a new 23 triple black. Your suspension video's are a big help (dealer didn't explain much) Thanks. I didn't put any bling on the 15 this video inspired me, bought some carbon fiber wrap & wrapped the 3 side covers, front fender & wind defectors. Had no idea what I was doing but it came out surprisingly good. I also have a tank protector on it's way from Italy.
Hi Bill and welcome to the channel, first congratulations on your new TB and it sounds like your having fun adding some personal touches to your new bike. The TB does look lovely!! Thank you for feedback on my Dynamic ESA series, it was a lot of work to put that together… Best wishes Carl
Hi Ricky, thank you. 👍. Currently packing for departure...Monday morning we leave for Norway. Perhaps one day you will join me... smile. Best wishes Carl

Great video! Off subject a bit: I noticed you have the Anakee Adventure tires on your bike. Do you notice them a bit loud, especially in the front fork tunnel whilst on asphalt?
Hello Nick, yes indeed. If you go to my channel I have two other Tyre videos you might like to watch, first is all about Anakee Adventure and Michelin tyres, the second is the Metzler Tourance Next 2. I recently change my tyres so both videos might be interesting to you. Best wishes Carl
I discovered (through Bret Tkac video) if you turn the handlebar downward -10 degree, the bar will come closer and lower to you (upward means further and higher)
Hello Karl I absolutely agree with what you say, the prices for accessories, especially from Wunderlich and Touratech, are not only excessive, they are extremely outrageous. People who buy things like that have lost control of their lives. This also applies to accessories such as case systems or lighting. I am thinking of DENALI, for example. 1 small headlight €430, that's where it ends. In comparison, the prices of original BMW accessories are already discount prices
Hi Roman, yes the prices are in some cases excessive and over priced, but people still buy them. With a little research some of those products can be at a much lower price and sometimes it’s just branding that adds to the cost. But it’s worth highlighting that occasionally you do get a better more reliable product that has been well designed and tested, and they are worth paying a little extra for. Thank you for sharing your thoughts kind regards Carl
Hi Hogdrive and welcome to the channel. The one I have and use on both the multistrada and GS is an older SW Motec model called EVO Engage, they are still available to buy but not so easy to find. I prefer this style to the new series, because I can mount the Map holder on top and although I use a navi system I love to have a real map with me too. Best wishes Carl
@@justthewayitis Thanks Carl. Looks like the Pro series has replaced the EVO series? I do like the quick release feature. I agree with the map - GPS is nice but there's nothing like a good old fashioned printed map 👍
A couple of things I fitted were eBay mudsling and front fender extender. Both have been on the bike for the last 17,000kms and they function fine. I did need to trim the mudsling slightly to stop the rear tyre rubbing. The "official" parts are outrageously priced for a couple of bits of plastic. Something else worth fitting is the Cymarc windscreen brace. It works.
Hi Geoff, thank you, yes I have also heard good things about the Cymarc screen support so when I get my screen sorted and the wind noise gone or reduced, perhaps I will fit one. Best wishes Carl
Hi Carl. I have just purchased a set of Ricochet crash bar engine guards. I see you have the Wunderlich cylinder head protectors on your bike. Would you run both products or would that be overkill?

Nice informative to the point video, I do like your presenting style. If youtube don't like long videos, they should tell Jim White (White Details) he usually makes them around an hour, still not long enough for me but, as you say, there's a lot of work in editing and it really is very much appreciated. More road oriented tyres will still be fitted at some point though. Comparing them to my 12 year old plugs, I am embarrassed to say that my ears have grown somewhat 😂
Hi Paul, great to hear back from you. I am pleased to hear (smile) that your new ear plugs have arrived and that your happy with them. Hi Johan and welcome to the channel, yes your right I also can't see them now on the website, they were also available on Amazon... now not available, perhaps they are sold out. I think they were also on ebay. I'll check again later and message back here if I can see them for sale again. Carl
Hi Johan, good morning. It took a while for me to find ot again. So go to ebay.de and place the following text in the search bar. PUIG GABELSCHUTZ AUFKLEBER GS KOMPATIBEL FÜR BMW R1250GS ADVENTURE 2019 SCHWARZ. This will take you to a part that is almost exactly the same. Best wishes Carl
Hi Carl, I'm planning to get the GS bike soon and was compiling the list of things in terms of the must-have things and necessary upgrades. What a joy is to find your channel. I'm a happy new subscriber. Thank you for your meticulous job and elucidations! I have a question. I live in Austria, and after visiting the Motorrad Zentrum in Vienna I was told that any kind of headlight protective covers are illegal - no matter what kind of material, plastic, glass, mesh cover, etc. I see you use one in Germany. Did you check if it is legal in Germany? Otherwise, something's strange in Austria... i have already encountered one issue relating to the 3D overview on my car (when you can watch what's happening around the car remotely over the phone using the front/back and mirrors' cameras ), and that function is jammed/restricted due to the data protection law. That is, BMW takes the money for this function, but the country prohibits it...:( So, I'm just puzzled about the headlight protection as this part is quite expensive. Would be nice to hear from the GS bike owners from Germany/Austria. Thanks in advance!
Hi Alexander and thank you for subscribing 👍 it really helps the channel grow. Glad you are enjoying the series and having fun choosing your options for your new bike. Correct the headlight protector is not permitted legally and should only be used off-road. We each have to make are own decisions about that. I might remove it but then again it might stay on !! But the headlight is about 1800€ to replace I need to check to see if it’s covered by insurance . If it is I will remove it. The GS has been a big positive surprise for me and I really enjoy it… such a capable bike Best wishes Carl
Hello Carl, I’m new to the channel and wanted to say thanks for the inspiring material for all GS lovers. If I may, in regards to the handle bar raisers, I would like to know if you had to buy the clutch and brake adapter extensions for bike? Thanks again
Hello Mr Majiso and welcome to the channel. The bar risers I used did not need extensions on either side. It was close but after measuring carefully I decided not to extend them as there was enough room. I think if you buy anything taller or higher then extension would be advisable. Also this might vary depending on year model you own mine is a 2021/2/3 model Best wishes Carl
Hi Darren if you watch the 2 year review (link below) and then look at the video description you will find the link to the protection graphic. 2 and half years on and it still looks like new. Hope this helps you Kind regards Carl th-cam.com/video/885JeEB288E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=P3S3ETT9ZxZEAOPp
Hi Carl - nice vid. Quite like the look of those grab handle stickers which would offer some protection when my camping stuff is strapped across the passenger seat. Couldn't seem to find them on Amazon though despite following the link ...
Thanks for your help Carl, but still not having much luck either on the Bay or Amazon. Just seems to be parts for pedal cycles - mostly brake disc pads. Don’t suppose you’d be kind enough to send me a direct link …
Here you go. www.amazon.co.uk/Adhesive-Handles-Protectors-Compatible-TRIPLE/dp/B0983Y6CDP/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?crid=3S75WW9URCTVF&keywords=BMW+gs+resin&qid=1656694183&sprefix=bmw+gs+resin+%2Caps%2C112&sr=8-16
I followed your approach, because I was shocked by the Wunderlich prices. I ordered a lot of stuff on eBay too and that‘s what I found out: The base tool is always nearly made of the same quality and therefore I think Wunderlich orders this stuff in China too. But Wunderlich always improves the assembly manuals and they nearly always changed the nuts and bolts to a higher standard (better material quality and torx instead of inbus). Everyone has to decide for himself, if this is worth sometimes more than 500 % difference in price. The only thing, I‘m asking myself is about regulatory compliance, when it comes to german TÜV or a police inspection on the road. Will they accept the China stuff on my front axle? But this could be the same question with the Wunderlich material. For example, in some countries it is ok to mount a cover of transparent plastic or a plastic grid in front of your expensive headlight to prevent cracks by stones. In Germany that is not allowed.
Hi Klaus good morning and welcome to the channel. Their are some areas I would not fit cheaper parts like the bar risers for example as they are very important and must a KBA number. But many other areas you can save a lot of money, I agree with what you have shared about wunderlich. Yes the rules and regulations are very strict here in Germany and I have to now remove my headlight guard, best wishes Carl
Check the latest comment on your multi function lights Carl. A fellow I know can reprogram the BM to turn them off. I told him about your problem and he left a comment there.
Best thing aftermarket part on my GS: MRA vario touring screen, a very big step forward in drivning comfort, i first got a loan Adventure screen and MRA i far superior.
Hi Anders, thank you for sharing. Currently have the MRA vario Xcreen fitted while I am touring Norway, so far it's been brilliant at reducing the noise. Best wishes Carl
Hi Billy, sorry for the delay in replying, I've been very busy getting tomorrows (Sunday's) next episode ready, which is about Flapper / Exhaust valves. This is the correct link to buy the swing arm cover click here: amzn.to/3Q61UiV There are a couple of others that look similar, but the above link is the correct one you need. Make sure the swing arm is REALLY clean before you install it. You can use a pin to make very small holes if you have any air bubbles. Have fun Carl
I guess that was a horrible experience. That's why I would only recommend high end bar risers in my video. Thankyou for sharing your experience so others can learn too. Best wishes Carl
@@justthewayitis I was lucky it was me riding, not my wife, and I just pulled into my driveway. The handle bars cracked in half… completely separated from the bike. Only the cables kept it hanging on the bike. I was shocked, but remembered watching how China makes their steel. I will never trust my life to anything made in China.
I will never buy anything from SW-Motech. I purchased a shift lever which bent after light use. I sent them photos and asked for a replacement. They told me that a car him my motorcycle and bent it. Really? I think I would have noticed if a car hit my motorcycle hard enough to bend the shift lever and there was no other damage. They said the car had rubber bumpers which didn't leave any marks. Bottom line is their stuff is cheaply made, their support is condescending, and they will not honor their warrantee. $192.95 plus taxes and shipping down the tubes. My BMW dealer has had issues with them and has dropped all of their products.
Hello and welcome, thank you for sharing your experiences with SW Motech. Sorry to hear you received a poor response from them about your product. I hope you have something better installed now. Regards Carl
Another informative video brilliant thank you... one of my best upgrades was fitting the Garmin Zumo xt absolute game changer for touring. you can see it on my latest post th-cam.com/video/N2avf3hgKTQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi Andy thankyou for the compliment. The Zumo XT is very nice, currently I'm happy with Navi 6 but possibly eventually I might change. Best wishes Carl
I have many accessories on my GS but would never put Chinese copies on it! why would you do that to 18 grand bike? let alone the fact that they have copied these parts from existing manufacturers who have undergone tests etc. this is not a good practice!
Hi MK, not all Chinese made products are cheaply made, some are manufactured in the SAME building as many of the big name brands. Sometimes the parts you think are copies are manufactured in the facilities but are sold without branding or expensive packaging. But yes... some parts are extremely poor quality. Not everyone can afford high priced accessories, everyone has to make their own choices. Best wishes Carl
I really like your videos, however… I can’t get behind buying the Chinese garbage. My strategy is to narrow down accessories to the most critical and buy quality. I’d rather have a few really nice/important things than a bunch of questionable doodads from junk manufacturers. I can’t imagine buying a $25,000 motorcycle and dangling junk made by children on it. Rant over.
Hello Arthur and welcome to the channel. Your feedback is welcome, I answered a similar comment further down in the comments section. Yes I agree with you.... but these bikes are very expensive and not everyone can afford them or the high prices for the accessories. Many subscribers have older models so I wanted to do something different and show that accessories can be bought at a lower price and still offer fair quality. But I do understand what you mean. Have fun... best wishes Carl
Hi Ryan and welcome, I am happy to learn new things, so perhaps explain what you mean in more detail as I'm confused and dont fully understand your comment. Wishing you a great Sunday. Carl
@@justthewayitis When standing, you only have a limited amount of space to move back and forth, risers reduce that space generally, but the ones you have are so swept back they close it even worse. The less space you have, the more unstable you’ll be when forward leaning, for example getting up an incline.
@@justthewayitis Quick search on YT brought up this vid on the topic. Brett’s videos are usually pretty good, although I haven’t seen this one. th-cam.com/video/3A52heoOdek/w-d-xo.html
Hi Ryan, ah... ok I now understand thankyou. If I am honest I do not go off road much at all, however I do enjoy being able to stand upright on the pegs to stretch out during long tours. I can understand now from what you have highlighted that for more off road oriented owners a bar riser that also come towards the rider reduces the space. Thankyou for sharing this. Best wishes Carl
Hi Jorgen, yes you are right we should think about this, and I think many people do what they can to support locally made products and services. But the truth is (with regards to motorbikes and cars) many parts especially electronics are made in china because it is the most cost effective way for manufacturers to offer these devices to us. I dont have an answer... or a solution. But your point is valid. Thankyou Carl
Hi WFO possibly your right.... smile. But they are sold and heavily advertised as Adventure bikes, so I will have an adventure...possibly.... Best wishes Carl

GREAT INFO MATE THANKS
Your welcome 👍
That is, BMW takes the money for this function, but the country prohibits it...:(
So, I'm just puzzled about the headlight protection as this part is quite expensive.
The GS has been a big positive surprise for me and I really enjoy it… such a capable bike
Best wishes Carl
Hello Carl,
I’m new to the channel and wanted to say thanks for the inspiring material for all GS lovers.
Also this might vary depending on year model you own mine is a 2021/2/3 model
Best wishes Carl
Thanks a lot Carl .
You’re welcome 😇
Hi, do you have a part number for the swing arm protector please, I can’t find the one you have for some reason. Thank you.
Hi Darren if you watch the 2 year review (link below) and then look at the video description you will find the link to the protection graphic.
2 and half years on and it still looks like new.
Hope this helps you
Kind regards Carl

Hi Carl - nice vid.
Quite like the look of those grab handle stickers which would offer some protection when my camping stuff is strapped across the passenger seat.
Couldn't seem to find them on Amazon though despite following the link ...
Hi String, thank you, they are also available on ebay. I will look for you now and add more information. Carl
On ebay, they trade under the brand (resin4bike)
On Amazon its (resinbike).
Carl
Currently on Amazon uk sold under Resin Bike brand name. 19.75£
Let me know how you get on Carl
Thanks for your help Carl, but still not having much luck either on the Bay or Amazon.
Just seems to be parts for pedal cycles - mostly brake disc pads.
Don’t suppose you’d be kind enough to send me a direct link …
Here you go.

Gotta be kidding me
lol… well we have a carry them

El Número 1 saludos desde España
Hi Pedro Gracias contenta de haber disfrutado el video
Carl
Great information.
Thank you Bradley
Check the latest comment on your multi function lights Carl. A fellow I know can reprogram the BM to turn them off. I told him about your problem and he left a comment there.
Hi Geoff, ok thankyou I will have a look. 👍
Do you have a link to the Swingarm protector? I can't seem to find it.
Hello and welcome, yes it is in one of comments sections . Carl
The standard OEM GSA screen with a spoiler bolted on top is very efficient also.
Thank you for the suggestion... I hope to borrow a friends soon from a GSA. Carl
Agree, I have had 2.
Thank you Jim for sharing.
Good choices
Thank you
👍✌️
👍
Have we got any links?
Links in video description
If there’s something specific you are after let me know
Carl
Hi Carl, looking for the swing arm cover. thanks @@justthewayitis
Hi Billy, sorry for the delay in replying, I've been very busy getting tomorrows (Sunday's) next episode ready, which is about Flapper / Exhaust valves.
This is the correct link to buy the swing arm cover
There are a couple of others that look similar, but the above link is the correct one you need.
Make sure the swing arm is REALLY clean before you install it.
You can use a pin to make very small holes if you have any air bubbles.
Have fun Carl
I’ve had China bars crack in half while riding.
Yes, that was extremely lucky. Thankyou for sharing. Carl
Accessorizing the Bugatti Veyron on a budget.
Yes those classic dangling fluffy dice that hang on the rear view mirror 👍
Wait till he finds out about AliExpress and Temu 😂
Have fun... best wishes Carl
your approach to risers is totally counterproductive. You’re killing your flexibility when standing for nothing. It’s the opposite of best practice.
Lots of stuff from China. No very sustainable. We need to think about how we impact climate
Why not just buy a dirt bike instead of crashing or dropping a "work of art" in the dirt? It would be a lot cheaper overall.
Hi WFO possibly your right.... smile. But they are sold and heavily advertised as Adventure bikes, so I will have an adventure...possibly....
Best wishes Carl
