Hi my amazing fam bam. So a SUPER HONEST video today where I share 10 Expensive Luxury Items I REGRET Buying and Why! I share items from Hermes, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Cartier that if I could go back in time I would not buy again. Are you guilty like me? 😂 However on a positive note I do explain what I would have bought instead, and I’m so excited to share about the new jewelry company I LOVE. Let me know one of your luxury regrets below and let’s learn together xx Mel

Mel, 100% not my business, but SELL the stuff, or give it away or whatever. You're burdening yourself with reminders of mistakes. You have a huge collection of luxury items from what I can tell. Why add to it with things you consider to be failures? Just let it go. You'll feel lighter, have less regrets, and even get some of your money back. Keeping what literally makes you feel poorly is just doubling down on regret.

It is so funny that when Coco Chanel produced costume jewellery in the beginning, she said it was for people spending less but still being elegant. It is so ridiculous now when Chanel costume jewellery is much more expensive than fine jewellery.

Spending $20,000 on a handbag is the obvious choice versus spending $200 on a *esluxscom* bag and investing the remaining $19,800, since a $20,000 bag is unlikely to increase in value.

I’ve always felt that Chanel is regrettable. Of all the luxury brands, in my opinion, Chanel is a “luxury brand” but NOT a *quality brand*. Especially their regular (fashion) jewelry - priced like real gold, but the fake pearls and crystals are just glued, not set, so they always fall out no matter how carefully you baby it. So I’ve completely kicked Chanel outta my closet! 😏
Real Pearls aren’t even very expensive now - so Chanel could very easily make the same pieces out of vermeil (at least!) and real pearls. I feel like such a sucker.

I purchased a barely used Coach Willow tote for $219 in Black pebbled leather and it looks soooo money and I wear it everyday and it still looks brand new 1.5 later. The quality is there, the price point is luxe enough It’s timeless and I will have it for at least a decade.

What can I say.... I was a sucker for their designs as some are really pretty 😂 The obsession started in my 20's and I don't regret my vintage ones, the quality of those even after 20-30 years has never been an issue. However yes you are right....all designer costume jewelry even fine jewelry you are paying for the "name". Hi! My biggest mistake was buying a LV Speedy 30 Classic. I'm a top handle girl and that part is ok, but the bag is much bigger than I thought. I also thought the bag could be cross body if I added a strap, and wow, it's huge on my hips like small luggage. So, I don't wear it. I bought the 25 and it's too small for my use. So..mistakes. Great video. Loved the info. Learning a lot. 💯🤍

I totally agree with so many of them!! Particularly speaking to me are the custom jewelleries (glad I stopped that really early on), LV holiday edition (I literally had the same realisation this year! And stopped myself from buying again!), logo scarves, and pretty but uncomfortable shoes from lux brands.

I think the only luxury mistake I made was when I was really excited to buy one watch and it became unavailable so I settled on a different one. I still like the one I bought but it's much more formal than what I like to wear. It's not worth settling at these prices. I still wear the watch and it looks great when I do, very classy and always appropriate for just about any outfit, but when I wear a pilots watch or something with more bling It just makes me excited

I hope one day he will show his face as he has a very nice and calming voice, and I would LOVE to see that face to that voice! My worst luxury purchase was buying a rather large patent leather nude color Valentino bag. Granted is around 10 years old but when I opened the dust bag a few days ago, I was shocked that the color turned to pucky mustard color with dark ugly blotches, and the bag was sticky too! UGH! I must remember that buying an expensive patent leather bag is not ideal in our hot, humid climate!

Im South Asian so when it comes to 'costume jewellery there is quite an abundance in our culture as we have a number of celebrations where jewellery complimenting our ethnic outfits is second by nature. I never understood 'designer costume jewellery' especially when the quality of gold is horrible. I started buying minimum 14kt gold - 24 kt gold pieces since college ( now im in my 30s) from highly respected and reputable jewellers. I could not afford high end designer goods but could afford quality gold pieces in the mid-late 2000s. Around that time an oz of gold was around $800--$12000...so not even an LV or chanel wallet....however those same gold pieces are now $2100. So to anyone reading this, struggling between purchasing designer goods..if you do not care for value, resale, or heirlooms there is an abundance of items. However if you do care about those main aspects do your due diligence because there could be some pieces that will be appreciated for generations.

I still love my LV reverse monogram LYXBAGS clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.

Of all the things, the only thing I like is the light blue wallet. It's pretty and one won't see it on everyone. It's worth buying the strap for it and turning it into a little bag. The jewelry can go and the money from it can be used toward the eventual purchase of one piece of fine jewelry.

God, every single Chloe bag I ever bought was a mistake. Those Celine bags during the Phoebe Philo tenure were regrettable, every single one - the phantom, the mini luggage, the trapeze, the belt bag … oof, the stuff of nightmares. (Okay, the classic box bag and trio are pretty good.) I regret selling my black Chanel lambskin classic flap and replacing it with black caviar leather. So ugly. I feel like I’m carrying a repurposed tire.

Hi Mel from Boston MA USA. For the “regret” items will you ultimately consign/sell them or do you keep them around? I have a few regret/mistake purchases and debating on whether to consign or keep.

Hi Ellen, about 4 years ago I had a vlog sale and did sell quite a few items. I’m terrible at letting things go 😅😂 but yes I do plan on selling some of things I don’t use from this video. I’ve had so many inquires already. In terms of your regrets, if you really don’t love them anymore you should consign them and put the money to something you love. You don’t have to sell them all in one go but start off with the obvious ones first Xx

I’ve had my Cartier Love Bracelet in white gold on my wrist since January of 2001, every few years I get them to clean and polish it for me ( not the full polish that removes a thin layer of gold just a basic one) the person at the Paris boutique told me that these bracelets should be worn alone or they will definitely scratch. Mine after over 22 yrs is still in great condition because it’s always been solo on my right wrist. Stacking them is going to scratch like crazy, even with a watch etc For this reason and the crazy price I’ll only ever wear it alone.

Hi, loved the video and I concur with it. My regrettable luxury items - Jimmy Choo 5 inch sandal, I wore them once and I was practically crawling. Paid $900 and then sold them at consignment & probably 100. Same thing happened with 5 inch Stuart Weiztman, never again. Now I buy the shorter heel.
I bought an LV passport holder. I regret that purchase. I monogrammed it which makes it difficult to sell.
Custom jewelry- Dior tribal earrings- have 5 of those but I wear them a lot. No more custom jewelry.

Yup he is not a fan of anything too logo-y 😂 and will be very vocal about it….he makes me laugh though. I love mikimoto and paspley too but I think if I was to get anything from those brands I would want something that is more unique. They have sone stunning designs I love too! However I was honestly impressed with the Gingiberi ones. I’ve been really enjoying them especially the akoya pearl range. Such great prices and the lustre is better than the Tiffany pearls I own which I totally forgot to show. Def check them out and well done on stopping earlier on regarding the Lv animation collection, I should of stopped earlier too 😂 Xx

I love your energy it's so happy and fun to watch. That medium classic Chanel bag you showed at the end looked more like a pearl than a metallic finish on camera which I found interesting since you dedicated a good portion of your this show to pearls, but as you said fake pearl isnt like real pearls 😅. The buy on sale but its too small but so cute skirt is a tempting lure to fall into. The skirt is way cute and has pockets too, so I get why you were tempted. I agree about buying slightly roomier, clothes look nicer and I can aways get the waist taken in if I need to but it isn't ever flattering if it's too tight across certain areas. 😉

  • @kaunas88

Basically anything with an expensive logo on it is objectively overpriced. The cost to manufacture the item / final cost is usually about 1-11 to 1 - 16. Most of the money of an item goes towards marketing to justify the very high logo prices.

Oh no way STOP - the Golden South Sea Pearl, absolutely stunning!! Can I ask you a quick question? Pearls on a man - contentious issue I know!! I'm looking for something very minimal, like a single drop earring (I just have one lobe pierced) or maybe a pendant? It's so hard to find the right combination of Pearl/Minimal/Masculine - but you clearly know your stuff - would you have any ideas? Maybe that Ash/Blue colour?? 🤔Would love if you had any thoughts!!

    • @liannavarbanova9898
      @liannavarbanova9898 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think it sucks that pearls on men is contentious. I never thought about it before tbh. I think that if men want to wear pearls they should go for it, everything should be unisex imo skirts, perfume etc. And as someone who has studied historical clothing and history look at what men wore in medieaval times, they were often more dressed up than women. Also Henry the VIII and the Tudors were covered in pearls and gemstones! We only live once and we should live as gloriously as possible 😁❤ Thinking about it I think a pearl stud on a man could be very sexy, even a pendant actually, and as for colour, with pearls I think that your basic skin tone can be important, I have olive skin and the golden pearl would not go well, creamy is good for olive and I had some black baroque pearls too from Pearl Paradise in Hawaii they had great prices too but I haven't looked in ages so not sure now. A black or silver grey baroque pearl pendant would look great on a man.

Except the costume one,i’ve made all of the rest mistakes.Overall, getting wrong sizes waiting for a miracle to fit in them just because they were on sale. And my heel’s high is getting 1cm low every year so the luxury shoes which only one toe stepped on the ground are collecting dust in the closet and telling me i have grown in all senses😂😂😂

We all buy things on impulse, and we do regret later due to taste change, getting older, value VS brand name. But just think the happiness you had the moment you bought. The reason you did not use them because you had too many! But, you are in the buying channel, perhaps you should open a new channel about environment, wellness and health, etc.
