You need to spend some time outside of Kuala Lumpur. Suggestions: 1) Cameron Highlands, Frasers Hill and Genting Highlands 2) Taman Negara - One of the world's oldest rainforest (just outside Kuala Lumpur in the state of Selangor and Pahang) 3) Perhentian, Redang and Kapas Islands (East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia - Got to check if the monsoon season has closed the resorts) 4) Langkawi Island (West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia) 5) Malacca - Old city with oldest christian church in SEA with Portuguese, Dutch and Old Chinese architecture) 6) Penang - Oldest English settlement in SEA) 7) Niah and Mulu Caves - In Malaysian Borneo state of Sarawak ( Largest caves in the world can fit 40 Boeing 747s side by side) 8) Mount Kinabalu, Orang Utan and Sun Bear conservation in Sandakan,Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. There are more, but maybe you can check this out. Also you need to raise your budget to get a decent living space in Kuala Lumpur.
Welcome to Malaysia 🎉 For me personally, I feel that Kuala Lumpur is where luxury is more value for money (as compared to other South East Asian nations). KL also has many more choices and options for every budget range. At least in my own experiences 😊 Enjoy your time in Malaysia 🎉
Ok, so maybe you could pinpoint where Kuala Lumpur has more value. Where are the luxury residence under 500 dollars and actually live this amazing lifestyle for under 1200 dollars

Welcome to MALLaysia!🙂 Sorry for the poor experience earlier.. I guess it's one of those hard lucks on budgeting in a big city.. I'm not sure how your timeline works, but you'd get to meet fellow British digital nomads Skye and Alanna if they'd still be around.. The latter knows the streets fairly well..😉
Hi there, welcome to KL/malaysia. Hope you two are settling in well. I was surprised when I heard you said you were not getting value for money in KL, the exact opposite verdict of what other foreign tourists and expats have replied when I specifically asked them why they chose KL/malaysia instead of other countries, and they were from england and scotland, as well as from other parts of europe like germany, france, romania, etc and the US, japan, korea, australia, singapore, etc. But I guess you were still too new to the place to catch the whole picture, plus your unfortunate experience with the very 1st accommodation surely influenced your perception significantly (I truly hope the management of that hotel watch this video and buck up on your quality!) True enough, you two eventually realised that the 2 bedroom apartment costs you a mere £21 per night or £600+ per month (less than rm115 a night or less than rm3,500 a month) that includes 100mbps WiFi, electricity, water, aircond, fully furnished rooms, 24hr security, swimming pool with uninterrupted KL skyline view, gym too most likely, or some other facilities. In england recently, I stayed in a few Airbnb studios, each for between 2-4 weeks, either with a small kitchen or a shared kitchen, and they each cost me between rm5k - rm7k+ a month. Then I moved to a proper rented apartment, gated but no real security, car parking bay but not covered, 2 bedroom but completely unfurnished except for the kitchen, heaters for all rooms but no aircond for summertime, and no swimming pool nor gym or any other facility, WiFi and electricity not included, and it was for rm5k+ a month. And we're not talking about london here, not even manchester and birmingham, or any of the top 5 largest cities in england. Train tickets out of london to other parts of england cost more than plane tickets from KL to kuching/KK in east malaysia! What's cheaper in the UK than in malaysia, are motorcars. And candies and biscuits. Especially digestive's 😊😋 Anyway, stay safe and hope you two have a truly enjoyable time for the rest of your stay in malaysia 👍
Oh another thing, usually I don't recommend doing your groceries in giant supermarkets. If convenient to you guys, aeon big usually gives you a better price on regular grocery and household items

Many expats choose the capital city Kuala Lumpur, though it's the most expensive place to live in Malaysia. Cost of Living index currently ranks it as the 181st most expensive city in the world. That still makes it far more affordable than most places in the U.S. For comparison, New York is rated number 7.

My 2 cents about the accommodation prices can be outstanding in Malaysia. But as the old saying goes, it is all about the location. Your apartment is in the middle of the tourist hotspot, so I am not surprised you are paying such an expensive per-day price. You could try finding something else on the other side of the city, and you might find it is much more value for money. I would look around Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Bukit Jalil or even Damansara.
the prices here are much more expensive than any other south east countries (except singapore & brunei) because we are much much more developed than other SEA countries like indonesia, vietnam, laos. we are almost like Singapore. the salaries here are much much higher than indonesia, vietnam etc.

@tyandsoph I'm from Kuala Lumpur and I travel quite a bit too. For £13, about RM 75 is not a lot of money. You can't even get anything decent in Singapore. For that kinda money, you can get a decent room in Bangkok, but not anywhere near CBD. Not Hong Kong. Not Manila. If you did find a gem, please share with us. Btw, your rental location is about 1km or so from the Twin Towers. That is prime real estate.
Oof not a good first (second or third) impression on the whole acommondation thing I guess. One thing to note, everything in the heart of KL is quite pricey indeed but if you just go a bit further out (just a tiny bit) which is easily accessible via the public transport system you'll find a huge difference with the prices. Can easily cut down 25%-30% of your expenditure. Public transport is relatively cheap especially if you stick to the rail line. Just something to note for the future.

Thanks for watching! Yes very cheap we saying that you just get more value for money with hotels in other parts of SEA. For example you will get a lovely hotel for 11 USD in Thailand but we couldn’t get a lovely hotel for less than 25 USD in KL. Still cheap compared to western prices but just doing a comparison for info purposes

For sure we agree, we were comparing the price with other places in SEA, it’s way better value for money than the western world 😄
@@tyandsoph I dont like malaysia
Nice video and about the price of the Hotel, isn't too much spensive, USD 15 is very cheap 👍
@@tyandsoph Yes! cheap and for 11 USD is very very Cheap, thanks
You can get 30%-40% cheaper if you stay 20km from city center
Visit low yat mall for electronics
We bought a mic from here 🙌
@@tyandsoph ok you post we feedback.
