Amazing. I want to move there NOW. This was the first video of yours that I watched. Will check out the others. I am following another person who lives in Malaysia who posts videos….i need to inform myself a bit more. But as time goes on, KL Malaysia 🇲🇾 is looking great. Thanks for your posts.
I can’t believe it. I keep checking the conversion app and second guessing myself. How is this even possible?! And why have I been slaving away and struggling in agony in this cold, wet, miserable place that I currently reside? Thank heavens for the TH-camrs sharing this info.
Man, you're doing a better description and tour of this place than many real estate agents I've seen. Already sold, and I wasn't thinking about coming to Malaysia!
Just amazing for the price you pay. I have just visited Malaysia for the first time (as a tourist), just a fast 2 week blat around key sites and cities, but it all enthralled me, particulary the welcome from every Malaysian I met and of course the food, history, historical sites, landscapes etc. Incredibly affordable for a solo traveller. I'm mid-50s Kiwi but definitely see a retirement plan that incorporates a few months each year in Malaysia if I can make that happen. Perhentian Islands and Malaka were my top spots, Melaka truly draws me back for an extended stay. Loved KL as well, such a clean well laid out city with incredible public transport (at least the areas I visited - stayed in Little India at the start and Bukit Bintang at the end). The cost of beers in the bars is the only hinderance! Wow they certainly know how to charge for a pint!
Great comment and I'm so glad you enjoyed your time here! I share your experience, and also rate Melaka. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to visit Perhentian yet, but I'd definitely recommend Langkawi - cheap tax-free alcohol ;) Hope you're able to make your way back to Malaysia in the future.
Malaysia is such a beautiful country! This will be the first Asian country that I will visit. If God wills ! I am organizing to come to a 5 star hotel in Tribeca for a few days then I will go to Port Dickson for the beach!
Awesome video but Jack, you are such a hunk. So handsome 🫠🥰. I love your accent too. Please stay in KL for another 10 years or longer. More videos please!
Your apartment, the spacious area, the good amenities, the strategic location, the ideally affordable rent, the amazing view of KL, are all big value for money. I hope that you are living a good life in KL.
@@JackAldertonJack, I'm not sure whether you read one of my comments in this thread, but now it's missing. It's nothing serious, after watching for the 2nd time few weeks ago, I noticed that your back balcony faces the Jalan Tun Razak, across it are the Bernama HQ, National Library, National Art Gallery, Istana Budaya, and just next to it is the beautiful Lake Titiwangsa Garden, have you been there, it was also very near to where I used to live in apartment in Bandar Baru Sentul for almost two decades. 😀
Jack you have to keep em coming mate. These vids are amazing and you just about have me talked in to coming over on a 12 months agreement. I may spend a couple months there and some in the states as well. Excellent job my man!

Great video. I love the koala and lompa! 😂 You persuaded my partner and I to revisit KL again. We're Australian retired nomads slow travellingthe world. You have definitely given us good food for thoughts. Thanks.
Just to add a bit of perspective - I stayed in a 2 bed/2 bath condo in Bukit Bintang for 2 nights during the recent Chinese Autumn Moon festival (which was spectacular), paid USD$150 per night (damn crazy as a solo traveller, but the city was jam packed so had to bite the bullet on that one!).
Would have been a great experience! This will be my first year I stay in KL for new years, hopefully I can jag a good hotel like that for the full experience (better start planning now haha)
I've stayed in Bukit Bintang (tourist central) and for something similar you would pay a bit more. $614 USD is a solid deal for that condo. Well done 👍
You mentioned that 50m pools were non-existent but that's what we wanted. We lived in Sydney, couldn't find a decent pool, and wanted something warmer, but our jobs needed t to be done from within Australia. Lucent in Newstead Brisbane has a 55m rooftop pool and Luminare's 35m rooftop pool is also insane, with it's cantilever off the side of the building. The gym is also insane. . If you need to move back ever, give Brisbane a go. Kuala Lumpur looks amazing though so we'll check it out for when we're not needing to work. Thank you.
That is awesome, thanks for the tip Glenn. Lucent looks fantastic, and I'm definitely interesting in Brisbance given the Queen's Wharf development and upcoming Olympics - I'll check them out for sure. Enjoy KL if you make it out this way!

G'day Jack, you made the right decision to move from Sydney to KL but here in Queensland our monthly rent is about 4 times more than what you are paying and the our rental property is about 60 years old and it has no facilities like your unit. Not to mention utlilites in Australia is one of the most expensive in the world.
I definitely understand! It can be pretty crazy sometimes.. half of my family is on the Gold Coast. A nice place, but sometimes hard to justify. For now I'm making the most of it here but we'll see what the future holds. Nice channel concept BTW, looks like we have a similar mindset.
Love the kitty cats! Can I bring my 3- cats there? I like that you can access the metro, without being downtown. Great choice. This old American is seriously going to check out KL.
Wow, fabulous place, love the view and the amenities and abundance space in the apartment… Great presentation… What are your thoughts on retirement in Malaysia?
Thanks John. I think Malaysia is a fantastic spot to retire, and definitely underrated. If you're looking to settle down, live peacefully, or even have a travel base, Malaysia has many advantages over other SEA countries, including Thailand. If the MM2H was easier for me to get, I'd be retiring very soon myself!
Been too Mayaysia twice back in the early2000's. Omg such a beautiful country. I remember the mall was huge, it was like 7 stories. Beautiful women The night life was amazing too. It gets really hot and humid there though. I don't know about the fall and winter.
Thanks Denis, great idea. I definitely plan to do more videos about different living arrangements and accomodation because this is what people are most interested in.
I've been considering something like this. But for some future content, it would be very helpful if you could share some more info about what is required for an expat lifestyle like this (career, income, visas, resources (i.e. websites you used to find apartments like this), etc
That's the plan! Lots of videos on my list and not enough time to make them. Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. For websites, use propertyguru and iproperty, verified agents only. Airbnb for monthly stays & Facebook groups if you want to risk it and jag a better price.
Interesting video.. I like the skyline view especially in the evening onwards.. Oh yea it has a balcony and you can view more and have fresh air.. it would be a cool weather in monsoon season from September onwards. Normally, you can watch a huge spectacular fireworks at the Petronas twin towers every new year celebration from your condo.. caution : extra care for your cat not to jump over whilst he's excited at the balcony..😂
Great Video, Jack! Thanks for the tour! Do you mind sharing how you go about finding long term rental apartments in KL and how you manage the visa situation for staying there?
Thanks Dom. Sure, always recommend using iproperty or propertyguru and only dealing with registered agents you can verify publically. Visa-wise I am on an EP, but you can also rent on a tourist visa, you'll just need to negotiate and probably pay upfront. Feel free to email me or reach out via IG if you need more info or help.
LOL, setia sky residences, i just sold off my unit there, unfortunately at a loss. Stayed there for 3 years, it was great, the views are awesome though.
Incredible, this is awesome. I mean here in cold ❄️ Sweden you don't get 1 room apartman for that price and the weather here is awful with no sun during winter. Man is it hard to find job. I am thinking of moving there 1 year. How is it during summer?
Weather is pretty consistent all year round, not really different seasons. Now is a bit of a rainier season but temperature is consistent. Personally, I love the tropical weather here, but it's not for everyone.
I really enjoy KL and would not mind living there at least six months of the year. Main issue is I live in Orlando which is already extremely hot/humid about 5 months a year. KL is like Orlando but for almost the entire 12 months. If somehow that could change I would be on the first flight there.
Makes sense! I spend some time in Queensland, Australia and it can also get humid. Personally I quite like it but it's not for everyone. Florida seems like a great place but maybe you need an escape from the weather - hope all is well over there at the moment.
Thanks for watching! I'd rate it a 7 - inside we have air filters, so no issue, but I can't lie and say it's pristine air outside. Definitely not as clean as Aus.
I have no interest in moving or visiting Malayasia (My wife if Filipina since nobody cares) but I stayed and watched the entire video because it was interesting and you did a great job.
_Spectacular!_ That would feel like a bargain to me even if it weren't two-bedroom. Does Malaysia have anything equivalent to Amazon? In America, I'm spoiled by having Prime deliver things to me in just a day or two.
Hey, thanks for watching! Yes absolutely, it's called Shopee - you can pretty much buy anything there & delivers next day similar to Amazon. There's also Grab delivery where you can get anything delivered from supermarkets, food etc. We also have access to Amazon via Singapore, but of course it will be a bit more expensive and take longer.
Cheers, Jack! Awesome apartment (2br is crazy) and great amenities for that price! Any reason you decided on KL instead of Bangkok (or even Penang)? I just found KL so darn boring when I went (going for another visa run tho), like there's nothing to do whatsoever. Penang and BKK seem to offer so much more, and I live super happily in Da Nang. Just wondering if I've been missing cool things about KL. Can't go to Pavilion or Batu Cave every day lol.
Haha really? Thanks for watching. Depends what you're into - I have a massive list of things to do and i'm not even half way through after two years. Main tip would be to get out the city and explore different places nearby. Next week going to Pahang and visiting the Elephant Sanctuary. Hiking is another good hobby which I'll do a video about soon. There's also lots of events on, markets etc. every day in KL - just have to look for it. Having said that, I work most of the time so that takes up most of my time. BKK I found quite hectic and tougher to settle in, Penang I loved but it's much smaller and less convenient than KL, so I think after a few months I'd not enjoy it as much (but it's still fantastic. Hope that helped with my perspective, sounds like you're doing great!
Hey Jack, thanks for the video. You mentioned you need to sign for 12 months to get that price. New to your Chanel how do you get a visa for that long.
Hi there, thanks for watching! Yes that's right, although there are other options. I'm working here so i have an EP (employment pass), other options are digital nomad visa or MM2h. You can also rent on a tourist visa, just be prepared to pay upfront.
Good video Jack hit the nail on the head with what I was looking for, am late 30’s potentially moving to KL from the UK for work, and will need a pet friendly place ( 1 cat). However, I have a fair bit of furniture so would want to bring it, would you know if they offer apartments unfurnished at all? Cheers!
Thanks for watching! Sounds great, hope it goes well for you. Yes, there are unfurnished places but they are the exception. Perhaps you could negotiate with the owner, or put their furniture in storage throughout the lease if you really want to keep your own. In Malaysia there is always a way 💪
Wow. Excellent find. New to the channel just subbed. Have a huge question, though. Isny the retirement visa in Malaysia kind of expensive? Maybe you can let me know how you manage that, my brother. That's the ultimate issue to taking advantage of that beautiful city. Cheers
Thanks for watching! Yes, you're right, and it's become more prohibitive recently. Personally, I'm on an EP (work visa) but I'm planning to move to something more flexible next year. Depending on which country you're from, the tourist visa is very accommodating, and there is a digital nomad visa if that fits your situation. I wouldn't really recommend the MM2H unless you are fully committed to retirement, have a lot of spare capital, or still earn an ongoing income to cover expenses. Hope you're able to come out this way!
Cheers! I reckon it's a fantastic deal. No fees for the rental but there would be fees for the owner, which is why I can't see myself recommending buying property in Malaysia - it's a renters market. Even still I'm sure the fees would be nowhere near the US, or Aussie strata fees & taxes.
Thanks mate. I will cover this in the video but they are by far the best i've experience anywhere. I'm getting 500 mbps here for ~25 USD/month with no downtime at all that I'm aware of.
Hi Jack, Thanks for the video. I heard the walls in that condo are quite thin. Is that true? Is it quiet, or can you hear your neighbours walking and talking? I also heard that the facilities aren't well maintained (e.g., broken gym equipment, pool closed). Is that accurate?
Hey Cedric, personally I don't notice the thin walls, no I can't hear my neighbours talking at all. But I am just above the pool, so occasionally if there is a rowdy group there, the sound will carry. Gym equipment I wouldn't agree with, I go everyday and nothing is ever broken but there is a second gym in the other towers, so maybe there were issues there. As for the pool, the main one is almost never closed, but the higher floor one (quasi-infinity) is often closed for cleaning. I guess it takes a beating from the rain and needs to be drained often - good point.
As a Malaysian and KLian.. I'd say thats bold calling out Kg Baru as completely safe 😂 there's a reason why condos have 24 hour security! Other than that, your vids are pretty accurate - Malaysia is known for affordable luxury especially on expat earning power.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! Haha well I personally can't say otherwise as I haven't experience anything otherwise. I have a video idea to test it, but it might be a little controversial... stay tuned.
Good question. Aria is a higher quality build (more luxurious) but here you get more space and better facilities. I can use this condo gym daily instead of going elsewhere so that saves a few hours a week. Aria is also going up in price, while here will be stable. On the downside, major construction has started nearby in Kampung Baru. It also means more new condos will be available next year in this great location - I'll try to review them ;)
Hey Dennis, thanks for watching! For me, it was a job opportunity that allowed me to move here and live this lifestyle. Malaysia & Singapore have the best job prospects for expats in SEA, but Malaysia is much more affordable. It's also very diverse and easy to settle in (english everywhere, commonwealth country). I do love Thailand and if I had a remote job or business, I'd probably live there, or at least rotate my time between there and Malaysia - stay tuned ;)
Malaysia has many advantages of accommodation and easy transportation to go out of the country because there are many discounts on flight tickets if you book early.
That's true Andre. I'm working here so I have an EP (employment pass). It's good for 2 years rolling or as long as I stay with the company. That won't be for most people but I know other Aussies here on the Digital Nomad visa, MM2h, and tourist visas that are able to rent etc.
How's the maintenance? Some things seem to have aged a bit already. Condos often age quickly with the humidity and due to the fact many buildings allow those AirBNB tourists who wear down the utilities a lot faster than residents. And... how about the work permit?
That's true - this building doesn't allow Airbnb although there are probably exceptions and ways around it. Given it's a renters market I would consider moving to a newer condo when it becomes 'aged' depending on your definition and what you find acceptable. Certainly don't accept a rental increment if there is deterioration. Work permit I got by having a job (employment) here, so not for everyone unless you're in that situation.
2.900rm are recently 689usd (didnt changed much since the video was made, was always wondering if hes talking about AUS dollars? hehe) just saying. or for me its approx. 628€. wow. thats an awesome condo. already looked it up😂😂how far s the distance to the next beaches??😂 in that heat..hehe..luv it.
Thanks Mandy, yes you're right! One downside of KL is that it's far from the nice beaches. The coast is accessible but it's not amazing, better to fly to Penang or Langkawi, or east Malaysia islands or Borneo for the really nice beaches!
My main question is how are you staying long term? Did you pay for mm2h or just doing visa runs every few months? I saw those condos from where I stayed in KLCC and meant to check them out, but there’s so many great options that I never made it over there
You're right, plenty of great options so there's many to choose from. Thanks for the question - I'm working here on an EP (work visa), otherwise yes I'd do the tourist visa and possible consider Digital nomad if they sort it out (heard issues). MM2H is a big commitment, but if you're sure and have the funds, I think it's a good idea. Hope that helps!
did you use MM2H? or if not what visa do you use to live there? your apartment is really nice, what a deal... i don't even want to compare it to what I get here in Florida.
Thanks for watching. I'm working here on an EP (employment pass). MM2H is a viable option but they've recently made it more restrictive. Haha I understand, but having said that, I'd love to visit Florida one day!
Hey mate, you can do it. Search on iproperty or propertyguru and reach out to agents there. If you're on a tourist visa you'll probably need to negotiate and/or pay upfront, but it's possible.
Hey Jack. After having lived there for a while now, what do you think of the place? would you recommend me moving there? I will be coming to KL for 6 months and I am looking for a place to rent.
That's the hardest part. I'd start with 3 months at a time then consider MM2H or nomad visa if it works for your situation. Or you can get a job here like me.
Are you there on an MM2H visa? We really want to move to KL, were there for 3 months last year, but the new mm2h program now requires condo purchase. Renting is preferable for many reasons.
I agree, renting is the way to go. I'm on an EP (work visa) but I sympathise with the situation. Tourist is the best way to start, which sounds like you did. Other options could be the digital nomad visa, cycling tourist, or MM2H, but it depends on your situation and the commitment you can make.

Been too Mayaysia twice back in the early2000's. Omg such a beautiful country. I remember the mall was huge, it was like 7 stories. Beautiful women
The night life was amazing too. It gets really hot and humid there though. I don't know about the fall and winter.
Amazing! I agree for sure. You're right it's hot and humid year-round. Not for everyone, but personally, I love it.
Good vid Jack! Very well explained 😀🇦🇺
Thanks for watching Phil!
Great value for money
i think so! Thanks for watching
That is a nice area....very lively
I love it! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Wow keep those type of content coming! Also if can do videos on 3 months lease, that will help as well..
Thanks Denis, great idea. I definitely plan to do more videos about different living arrangements and accomodation because this is what people are most interested in.
It's beautiful condo! very nice price.
Thanks for watching Christian!
Besides that, you can take the mrt (yellow line) directly to Putrajaya Sentral and to KLIA Terminal 1 and 2. Very convenient!!!
that's right, I should have mentioned that! I usually take the train to and from the airport.
Haha yes, lovely fireworks - there were some a few days ago. I'm very grateful for being able to watch them!
@@JackAlderton 👏
Oh i see your cat!! So cute
Thanks!
Absolute bargain. Thank you Jack
Thanks for watching, appreciate it!
LOL, setia sky residences, i just sold off my unit there, unfortunately at a loss. Stayed there for 3 years, it was great, the views are awesome though.
Ah!! Good place but yeah the property market here seems pretty rough for investment. Glad you got some nice times here.
Will they rise in value in future ?
Will it rise in value in future ?
Damn bro... this place is sick! We might be neighbors next time I visit 😂
@@TedPatrickBaird That sounds amazing. So, when are you coming? 😀
@@Yasin_Affandi Sooner than later inshallah 🙏
@@TedPatrickBaird That sounds good. 😀
Welcome anytime Ted!
You are welcome!
G’day this looks great however humidity kills me being a Victorian mate so is the weather more full on hot than the Gold Coast?
Incredible, this is awesome. I mean here in cold ❄️ Sweden you don't get 1 room apartman for that price and the weather here is awful with no sun during winter. Man is it hard to find job. I am thinking of moving there 1 year. How is it during summer?
Weather is pretty consistent all year round, not really different seasons. Now is a bit of a rainier season but temperature is consistent. Personally, I love the tropical weather here, but it's not for everyone.
wowza! now that's value for money
Thanks for watching Zoe, pretty good right? And nice channel, keep up the good work 👏
amazing video thank you for the great information
No worries, glad you got value from it!
Love the informative videos! What's the air quality like?
Thanks for watching! I'd rate it a 7 - inside we have air filters, so no issue, but I can't lie and say it's pristine air outside. Definitely not as clean as Aus.
I have no interest in moving or visiting Malayasia (My wife if Filipina since nobody cares) but I stayed and watched the entire video because it was interesting and you did a great job.
Thanks so much for the feedback Garry! Appreciate it. Hope you and your wife are doing great.
Imagine waking up as your 👀. Every morning i will say I'm grateful for nice view.
haha cheers
Malaysia has lots of condo like this
it's great right? Love Malaysia's property.
I saved "setia sky" in my Google map!
It's a good one! Thanks for watching
Awesome. Just subbed. Time to get out of brizzy 😁
Haha cheers mate, I'm over on the Goldie right now!
Ur cat is so cute 😍 ( u also cute 😆 )
thank you, they're adorable!
Loved the video! Keep shooting 'em! ❤
Thanks mate! Lots more coming
A cubicle in a condomnium around Bukit Timah, Singapore costs around the same
Yes sir 🫡
Crazy, good value in Malaysia! But I do love Singapore otherwise. Thanks for your comment.
Furnished? Amazing!!! Do they have crazy condo association fees like they do here in the US?
Cheers! I reckon it's a fantastic deal. No fees for the rental but there would be fees for the owner, which is why I can't see myself recommending buying property in Malaysia - it's a renters market. Even still I'm sure the fees would be nowhere near the US, or Aussie strata fees & taxes.
Great condo
Thanks for watching mate!
Great video...what are internet speeds and how reliable, i.e., outages?
Thanks mate. I will cover this in the video but they are by far the best i've experience anywhere. I'm getting 500 mbps here for ~25 USD/month with no downtime at all that I'm aware of.
Hi Jack, Thanks for the video. I heard the walls in that condo are quite thin. Is that true? Is it quiet, or can you hear your neighbours walking and talking? I also heard that the facilities aren't well maintained (e.g., broken gym equipment, pool closed). Is that accurate?
If reading the Google reviews, the service guards are terrible with a bad attitude
I wouldn't agree with that, there's always gonna be some guys that have a power trip but most of the staff here are excellent.
I have a video idea to test it, but it might be a little controversial... stay tuned.
Kg baru is generally safe in my experience. And I’m local
How would you compare this condo to the aria luxury residences condo you stayed at before for 1 person with no pets?
Good question. Aria is a higher quality build (more luxurious) but here you get more space and better facilities. I can use this condo gym daily instead of going elsewhere so that saves a few hours a week. Aria is also going up in price, while here will be stable. On the downside, major construction has started nearby in Kampung Baru. It also means more new condos will be available next year in this great location - I'll try to review them ;)
Hey Jack! Curious what made you choose Malaysia,Kl compare to thailand etc.?
Hey Dennis, thanks for watching! For me, it was a job opportunity that allowed me to move here and live this lifestyle. Malaysia & Singapore have the best job prospects for expats in SEA, but Malaysia is much more affordable. It's also very diverse and easy to settle in (english everywhere, commonwealth country). I do love Thailand and if I had a remote job or business, I'd probably live there, or at least rotate my time between there and Malaysia - stay tuned ;)
@@JackAlderton Wow, interesting perspective! Thanks for sharing!
@@JackAldertongood answers 🎉
Malaysia has many advantages of accommodation and easy transportation to go out of the country because there are many discounts on flight tickets if you book early.
The condo price isn't the problem. It's getting a visa. Which Visa did you get? and how many years is it good for?
That's true Andre. I'm working here so I have an EP (employment pass). It's good for 2 years rolling or as long as I stay with the company.
That won't be for most people but I know other Aussies here on the Digital Nomad visa, MM2h, and tourist visas that are able to rent etc.
My English neighbour has been on visa run for decades plus he's living on UK benefits only.
Hi Jack, How is the internet connection? What is the upload and download speed? Thanks
Good question, I should have mentioned this. Ours is 142 RM (30 USD) a month and running at 588 / 496 Mbps (down/up), so in my opinion it's fantastic!
628€. wow. thats an awesome condo. already looked it up😂😂how far s the distance to the next beaches??😂 in that heat..hehe..luv it.
ahh found it. 35km away from the coast. thats not much.
Thanks Mandy, yes you're right! One downside of KL is that it's far from the nice beaches. The coast is accessible but it's not amazing, better to fly to Penang or Langkawi, or east Malaysia islands or Borneo for the really nice beaches!
Great video brother! I'm sold 😂
Haha cheers bro!
What is the internet speed? Very important, especially the ping/latency/jitter/speed
Got back to you via email Randy ;) For others reading, the internet is amazing, 500Mpbs up & down, 139 RM a month.
I’m in Brisbane and my mortgage for a new one bedroom apartment close to the city is more than a five bedroom penthouse rental in KL 😳
crazy right! Hope your place gets a good run leading up to the Olympics.
did you use MM2H? or if not what visa do you use to live there? your apartment is really nice, what a deal... i don't even want to compare it to what I get here in Florida.
Thanks for watching. I'm working here on an EP (employment pass). MM2H is a viable option but they've recently made it more restrictive. Haha I understand, but having said that, I'd love to visit Florida one day!
Making MMH2 restrictive not much point taking it
amazing video! how can I book that while overseas? through Setia official website? any tips? I want to stay for one year
Hey mate, you can do it. Search on iproperty or propertyguru and reach out to agents there. If you're on a tourist visa you'll probably need to negotiate and/or pay upfront, but it's possible.
@@JackAlderton Thanks mate! appreciate the info
OK you are awesome. You have a kitty! Hell ya.
haha thanks mate!
Amazing
thanks for watching!
As a cat lover who couldn’t dream of relocating without them. What is the process for bringing them to Malaysia?
Hey! It's very doable, I'm not sure the exact requirements but Malaysia is very cat friendly, I don't think you'll have much issue with this.
Hey Jack. After having lived there for a while now, what do you think of the place? would you recommend me moving there? I will be coming to KL for 6 months and I am looking for a place to rent.
Looks amazing but how about visa pathway to settle in KL?
That's the hardest part. I'd start with 3 months at a time then consider MM2H or nomad visa if it works for your situation. Or you can get a job here like me.
Best will be to get a permanent remote job in Australia and live in KL.
Thanks for responding back mate :)
