  • Are you tired of living in a place that doesn't bring you joy? Join me as I take you on a tour through my family & pet-friendly 2-bedroom condo apartment in Setia Sky Residences, near KLCC here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where I now live for just $614 a month as an expat.
    0:14 - How I Ended Up Here
    0:53 - Setia Sky Residences - Entry, Lobby & Location (MRT access)
    2:13 - Facilities (level 5) - Main Pool, Jacuzzi & Convenience Store
    3:42 - Facilities (level 34) - Rooftop Pool, Gym, & Sauna
    5:54 - Condo Full Tour
    9:10 - Nighttime Rooftop & Total Costs
    We’ll start with the secure entrance, and impressive lobby, showcasing the perfect location next to the MRT and how Setia Sky is an unmatched convenience in this price range. Next, we'll head up to level 5 to check out the main 50-metre pool, followed by the convenience store & family facilities.
    Next, I take you on a tour of my pet-friendly fully furnished condo, including a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a comfortable living room, 2 TVs & my favourite part, the amazing KLCC view from the balcony.
    Level 34 features the ‘rooftop’ infinity pool, full condo gym, jacuzzi & sauna - the KLCC skyline looks amazing at night. All of this for only $614 a month! Let’s explore what is possibly the best value family & pet-friendly condo in Malaysia.

      Yes, there are unfurnished places but they are the exception. Perhaps you could negotiate with the owner, or put their furniture in storage throughout the lease if you really want to keep your own. In Malaysia there is always a way 💪

      That's true Andre. I'm working here so I have an EP (employment pass). It's good for 2 years rolling or as long as I stay with the company.

    • @JackAlderton
      @JackAlderton  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Colette, long-term visas are a little bit notorious in SEA but it depends on your situation. MM2H and the Digital Nomad visa would be the go-to's if you can, otherwise tourist visas are quite generous for a lot of countries. Personally I work here, so I'm on an EP (work visa).
      The leases are standard 12-months and you can get these on a tourist visa, you might just have to pay upfront. Hope that helps!

    Are there any restrictions on pets? I have a 40 lb medium sized dog. When you look the property up online it says it is not pet friendly.

    • @JackAlderton
      @JackAlderton  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It would depend on the owner of the condo you're renting. It's definitely pet-friendly on the whole. There are big dogs here that owners walk around, so it's definitely allowed. Restriction would come from the specific owner, not the building. I think you would have no trouble finding a place here!

      Hi Maria, for these prices you'll typically need to sign a 12-month lease as standard. Shorter ones are possible, and there are room-rental companies that do 6-months at a time. Otherwise you can rent something similar through airbnb month-to-month, but it will be pricier. Thanks for watching!

      Hey, good question! I'm working here, so I'm a Malaysian tax resident and pay taxes here (I'm not a Malaysian citizen and never will be). That means i'm no longer an Australian tax resident currently. You'll most likely still have to file a return to report any Aussie sourced income (interest & dividends). You may also need to report worldwide income to the ATO, which is not taxed, but relevant for HECS etc. that you may have. Otherwise, it's no issues. This is not advice (but I do have an accounting degree haha)

      Hi there, I can't really advise on specific situations but you should be able to sign a lease on a tourist visa. Obviously it doesn't make sense if you're not going to be there most of the year though. I'd recommend Airbnb (monthly stays) or Wetopia for up to 6 months. You'll find good deals, but not quite as efficient as a full year lease.
