    We are just about to return to the UK after travelling Malaysia and Thailand for 3 months and I can hands down say Malaysian travel is sooooo much more reliable and better than Thailand!

    Here is an alternative. Take a ferry to koh lipe, and a boat ride to Phuket. The journey may take a few hours. If you are seasick may not be an option.

      The ferries weren’t running at the time 😔

    9:17 there used to be a shortcut bridge from the train station to the border. However, due to security issues, Malaysian Immigration closed the bridge. So you need to take the longer 6km route to the border. Malaysian Immigration is a department under the Federal Government, hence the Perlis State Government can't do anything about it. However, the State Government is aware of the issue and had requested many times for the Federal Government to reopen the bridge. Recently, the Federal Government stated that they are trying to do something to solve the problem. Not sure why it's taking so long to solve such a simple problem. As a Perlis residence, I'm sorry of your bad experience while in Perlis and hope that the things here will improve the next time you visit Perlis.

    Nice sharing. I didn't know this alternative way. I just knew a ferry/boat to Koh Lipe or Rassada Pier.
    Anyway thanks for your visit Malaysia. Have fun in Thailand.

    from padang besar (malaysia) you have 2 options
    1. take train to hatyai for 50baht
    2. take van to hatyai for 30RM

    There are differences between Western and Asian travelers. Asian travelers typically travel for a maximum of 2 weeks, with 4 days and 3 nights being common. Western travelers, on the other hand, often travel for months on their journeys. This can be challenging when it comes to cost control. Malaysia and Thailand are great options for maximizing your stay as they are low-cost travel destinations.

    • @tyandsoph
      @tyandsoph  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for commenting! To be honest most western people do not travel for months on end they just have 1 or 2 weeks away in a country closer to home! Only a very small percentage of westerners can travel for months at a time! It just seems this way because a very common place for someone to go backpacking for months is SEA

    Allow an additional day for pre-departure prep in case of any blunder or interruption that forced changes in departure date n time.

    Bus times can change due to traffic congestion and are usually difficult to predict.Very worrying when there is a travel connection to another place

    The train u took from Padang Besar (Thailand station) actually departed from padang besar Malaysia. The train left Hatyai station to Padang Besar (Malaysia) and return to Hatyai, made a brief stop at Padang Besa (Thailand) to collect Thai passengers. Would have saved money and effort

    Bit of a hassle for you guys to get from Langkawi to Phuket. To be honest, I didn't like Phuket much especially around Patong area but I loved Krabi though. Is there a direct flight from Langkawi to Phuket? If there is, would that been a lot easier for you guys? Definitely loved Langkawi. In my opinion, Thailand Malaysia and Indonesia are incredible countries to visit (been Malaysia 5 times, Thailand 4 times and Indonesia twice)

    • @tyandsoph
      @tyandsoph  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We wanted to opt for the cheapest option to test it and see what it was like and how much it costs ☺️ yes there was a direct flight though

    • @brothersman524
      @brothersman524 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tyandsoph I would have paid just a little more for the direct flight because it would saved a lot of time and hassle - sometimes you have to pay a bit more to get more value. I knew there was a direct flight because I have remembered when I flew from Langkawi to KL and noticed the direct flight to Phuket as well as to Krabi.

    As Malaysian, we normally avoid doing what you did in Thailand. Personally, I had one bad experience catching a train from Hatyai to the border, paid the ticket, and ended up getting a taxi. Luckily we managed to catch the last train (Malaysia) of the day. Close shave, uh!

    Using public transport is always full of hassle and stressful. Unless you have much time to spent. Yeah, it's time vs money vs convenience, I myself prefer less stress , although not saving.😂

    Your route planning in Perlis was rather bad. You should have went to Kangar from there using minivan to Hatyai direct link. Your switching of different transportation modal caused you anxiety and money being fleeced as you were rushing to catch the next scheduled departure of your chosen transportation. Luckily you were willing to pay those exorbitant charges. Search for bus from Kuala Perlis to Padang besar Thailand you will get the better results.
