I love the R6 Mark II with the RF 24-70mm f/2.8L. That is my go-to setup for dance and portrait photography.
If I use EF 24-70 with adapter will it affect my image quality?
@@jeffreysimon3285I think you’re fine brother. I had both rf lenses and ef lenses. The rf lenses are undoubtedly better and more fun to use but in my experience the difference in the quality of the final work isn’t significantly noticeable, especially if you post on social media. The difference is there if you’re pixel peeping but ignore it and you’re good. 👍🏽

I personally love the placement of the one-off switch. Allows for one hand operation compared to my friend's original R6 that requires both hands. Which, as a parent, is not always possible. Nice review.
Exactly. Other older Canon cameras have also had the switch on the left, too.
I get that it's a bit annoying if you have muscle memory with the previous model, but I feel its pretty difficult to make a case for the switch being in an objectively worse place for overall ergonomics

Appreciate it. Most people don’t use their cameras to full potential because they are usually overkill specs for majority of people. Even I don’t most of the time. But obviously it’s nice to know what your camera is capable of if there is a scenario where you need it to be awesome and it is lol

FWIW I did an overheat test in 4K50 crop vs my A7IV in about 20 degrees C (68f) - The A7IV overheated after about 50 minutes & the R6ii went until SD filled, then went until the battery died. All in all I got 1 hour 40 mins without over heating, BUT the little overheat bar was in the red for the whole time so I probably wouldn't rely on that professionally.
As a Sony user I hired this camera out and loved it for wedding videos. The IBIS is so good I barely shot with a gimbal (except ultra wide establishers) and having full frame + crop mode 4k60 makes every prime versatile again, Sony no longer has a camera that can do this in 4k50 (except a1 but money). The only thing stopping me from switching at this point is the eco system, I've heard RF lenses are hit and miss with focus etc in video, and the fact that Sony generally has something up it's sleeve at all times, so hoping for a true mid range hybrid with full frame 4k50 from Sony this year!

Yeah the Fullframe/crop 4K 60 is nice to have but like you said the eco system is lacking. They also blocked all 3rd party lenses so there isn’t any 3rd party autofocus lenses. Although the A7iv cropped 4K 60 can be annoying I do like that there is more bitrate and codec options and slog3 is way better than clog3
@@LeeZavitz yeah I feel like they’re trying to be the Apple of cameras by locking down their system but you really need best in class ecosystem at all price ranges for that to be a wise decision. Also agree with you, I didn’t think I’d notice the difference but clog3 is definitely a lot less flexible when coming from slog3
I got the R6 Mark II back in early December when it came out and MAN I'm in love with this setup! I shot for 15 years as a pro with Canon's best and this is the best camera I've ever used by far!
I did a lot of research and the original R6 was arguably better than the A7IV. The R6 II is now easily the best in its class.

Great video. I’m Stil rather confused. as a landscape shooter (not birds) is the r6ii worth the $1500 more over the r7?
With the way I use my camera, the only/off button makes little difference to what happens during an extended shooting session.

I know there is a distinction between full frame and apsc, but how does the R6 Mark II compare with either X-H2S or X-H2 when it comes to stills photography?
Great review, I think this camera didn't get lot of love in the youtube space cause most of the reviews are ignoring how incredible photo camera this is, plus although it has some things worse than the A7IV it also has some really important things done better like less of rolling shutter, no crop 4k60, external raw which is usable ( i use 5k raw on the R5 often), false colour is also great especially if canon makes it easier to work, even the image stabilisation is really subjective, for me it is better than the Sony cause I prefer narrow lenses like 30mm and tighter and it does really well that, sony is then again better in wider angles... I do think for the money one of the best hybrid solutions but we are all lucky cause there are so many great cameras from all the brands...what age to live in :D
I did a lot of research on the R6 and A7IV and then the R6 II came out and I got it immediately! The R6 II is the best camera in its price range with the A7IV behind in most ways (from dynamic range, ISO noise, AF, sharpness (yes believe it or not), 4k60 full frame, build, LCDs etc (check out Alex Barerra's comparison for photos, the R6 II smokes the A7IV).
I was thinking that the lack of third party support might be an issue but nope. The EF lenses are essentially native. In fact many EF lenses outperform their RF counterparts (the 70-200 28 IS III actually has better focusing than the RF version (slight) and has a better zoom ring, and my Sigma Art 50 1.4 is sharper and actually focuses 2x as fast as the RF 50 1.2 and costs 1/3 the price).
@@77dris i Agree with everything you said especially the lens situation. Yeah it is annoying using the adapter but only for its size or situations where you have mix of RF and EF glass. Everything else is is working better than on dslrs and as you said in some cases maybe even better than the RF counter parts. To me the only three things that A74 is better is full hdmi, more codecs and 10 bit standard profile in video. Considering you get so much more in other things it’s a no brainer. But also I would point out changing systems is for example to me one of the worst decision one can do today especially if people are heavily invested in a system. Realistically all the cameras today can do the job done in 90 percent of situations and soon there will be a version from the each brand that could do 99% of situations. And if you can’t do a job with today’s equipment the problem is probably you.
I see you are using in the studio with off camera flash. I asssume you know that you have to have an adapter to attach the canon trigger or the 600 RT II flash to the hot shoe. Did not warn me about that or I would have considered spending the addition $s for the R-5

It’s a wireless hdmi transmitter. I have it under the camera. It sends the feed from the camera to my phone so I can record all the menus and settings

There are so many cameras that are good now I can’t give you an answer. The FX3 isn’t the best for photography but if you are mainly doing video it’s the best of the bunch.
This review helps me a lot to decide whether i’ll switch to canon or not. Sony shooter here 😊
Hello I would like to know one thing about the Canon R6 Mark2, here I saw that he heats in 4K 50 I from 40 minutes, but does not heat in 25 i in 4 k. My question is, when it heats up in 50 i if I go immediately in 25 i, then continue the recording or it must cool anyway?
If a owner of R6 Mark 2 can do the test SA would be cool

Micro HDMI is a deal breaker. I finally just got a micro HDMI clamp for my OG R6 because my Kondor Blue cable got bent after the 3rd gig or something and had to get a new one.

Lee - if you had to pick between the R6II and the A7R5 which would ypu pick for hybrid social media work. Im a Nikon user about to upgrade my DSLR. At the moment I think the A7R5 and the Tamron 20 40 is right for me.
I generally shoot video default profile 1080p, 50fps, hand held.

Lock switch is the deal breaker for me. I’d appreciate Canon to remove that away. I never touch the lock button on my R5. I wish I can customize that button 😂

Accsoon Cineeye hdmi transmitter to my phone. And use the Accssoon App to record. I don’t recommend it though. It’s very unreliable

From what I can remember when using the R5 I think the R6mkii is better. Just not when it comes to resolution. R5 is double the megapixels

A7iv. There are a few reasons. Lenses is a big reason to choose Sony. And for video it has higher bitrate and more dynamic range thanks to slog3 and those higher bitrates. But if it’s just for photo ether camera is amazing

Yeah it’s noticeable if you are zoomed in. Having the extra resolution is nice to have. Some clients need higher than 30mp some don’t. I guess it just depends on what you’re shooting.

The RF L Zoom lenses are the only ones with fast AF motors. The cheapo RF primes and the RF 50 1.2 and RF 85 1.2 are substantially slower. Same with adapted EF glass. The autofocus is going to take a huge hit if you aren't using the RF L zoom lenses. With Sony there are tons of lenses that have great AF performance.
It’s interesting they wouldn’t come out the gate with fast silent af motors in those primes to match what the zooms can do. Seems like dated tech
@@LeeZavitz It really is. Without any 3rd party options as a video shooter your lens selection is even more limited. Another less talked about issue is the RF L primes and the cheap primes aren't quiet. They make clicky noises that get picked up by a shotgun mic. I really wanted to stay with Canon but I'm over it. It's not a system to invest in long term with no 3rd party support and serious design flaws in the lens designs on Canon's part. I've got an A7R V and an FX3 on order.
@@NickDelDuca I’m contemplating switching from Nikon Z to Canon R and I’m sad to hear that so many of the lenses are audibly noisy. Nikon has its issues - mainly around poor autofocus performance - but one thing I’ve loved is that the Z lenses are fast and super quiet. Perfect for both stills and video. Why would Canon put noisy AF motors in the RF series? Especially when they’re marketed as being quiet? Make it make sense.
@@jooyoonchung3593 I dumped my Canon R5 and R6 after a year and went to Sony. You just have to invest too much money on glass right now to make it viable and even then some of the expensive glass still has issues with noise. The AF on Sony is great, pretty much all the lenses are super quiet even the 3rd party Tamron and Sigma ones and the colors are just as good as Canon or Nikon if you edit in Capture One. I'm pretty convinced all the Sony color issues are caused by Adobe.

in terms of resolution the xh2 is better but as and overall camera the R6mkii is better imo

the r6ii is absolutely and definitively sh1te in low light focusing. Did an dancing event and could not hit the mark most of the time, which is embarrassing for a paid gig. Had to revert to the 5diii I had luckily brought along and THAT worked better. And yes, I tried different AF modes etc and was on case 2.
Worse than 5dmkiii? Sometimes taking the camera out of servo and jsut doing single shot like the old cameras will give you better results in lowlight. But if you tried all the modes that’s interesting. I never had any issues In lowlight but I also don’t know the exact conditions and what you were shooting in
@@LeeZavitz dancers moving and spinning around, but he focus points were moving or wouldn't lock on. I tried spot focus, the area focus and then whole area focus. stayed mainly in servo and then decided fcuk it, tried one shot and still not great. Had EF 16-35 f4 on EF-R adaptor and speedlight. Tried live view as well and sweet jesus, the lag on that was incredibly bad. Only for the fact I brought the 5Diii just in case, I wouldn't have been paid.

Unfortunately on this camera you can only shot 10 bit in C-log 3. Unlike the Panasonic S5 and Sony A74 you can film 10 bit in all picture profiles.
That is the only downside of both the Canon R7 and Canon R6 Mark 2
Yeah and you have no option to really choose different bitrates and codecs. The only thing going for it is fullframe 4K 60p where the other 2 crop 4K 60p
So if you pick the recording option of CLog OFF, what happens, is it recording Auto pretty much?
No , it just lets you shoot in a regular picture profile and 8bit.

@@royaltykidstv picture profile is like filters on the video. c-log gives you a gray uncolored look, so you can add color in your video editor. regular picture profile is standard colored video. theres other different picture profiles (filters)

BUT fck Canon, firstly they only offer is the side hinged flippy flappy, take forever screen, it’s their way or no way. Then they ban third party lenses on their system.

Yeah the third party lens ban is a weird one. Especially when they have really only made higher end lenses which leaves people that don’t want to spend big money on lenses left to adapt older EF lenses which is not going to give you the same experience and performance of the RF lenses

Exactly. They are all good. Every camera is a good hybrid camera. But some offer things you prefer over others.
