    The only major thing missing for me really is a place to mount my external audio recorder to capture the audio coming from the Rode Wireless GO receiver - having that allows me to of course capture that external audio and also to plug in a headphone without attaching it directly to the camera. Using a left and right-hand handle with the cold shoe on top might allow me an open space to mount that external audio recorder

      Id love to see a XLR module from both Canon, Lumix and Sony that will somehow be more compatible with top handles or at least a top handle similar to the sony but has arri locating pins at the front to mount a monitor lower than the hot shoe mount. Both the Lumix and Tascam XLR modules are great but cumbersome if you want to run a top handle as well! Perhaps they could create a hotshoe cord mount that connects hooks into the hotshoe, then cables over to the XLR module that will allow you to mount the XLR module on some other cold-shoe mount out of the way

    Sooo glad ya did a rigging video. Thanks much as always Josh!
    Quick questions:
    - are there no locating pins on base plate for bottom of R62/Smallrig cage?
    - with the strap mounts, still able to utilize the peak design style strap? Or does that mount “fill” the strap loop?
    I like keep my cage on (nearly) permanently, guessing you could utilize some of the other smallrig mount holes for PD loop mounts?
    Appreciate it!

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome. I don't see any location pins on the bottom of the cage (both where the camera touches it and on the bottom where that arca swiss is). I don't know specifically about the peak design strap, but there are two strap attachment points on the right side of the camera. One at the top and one at the bottom.

    Great detailed video, thanks Josh!
    SO, there is now the "Black Mamba" Smallrig 4161 which looks "better" from what I can see regarding access to the buttons on the top right of the camera, however, it doesn't have nato rails which are useful for handles as you know (I have the same handles you do already) - Of course you can always add a nato rail, but I really liked the fact this cage you have has nato rail built-in and the screw options all there.
    Is there anything else you notice that is different/missing? I like the new profile of the black mamba but don't want to miss out on the features of this cage.
    Would really appreciate your thoughts.

    Very informative. I currently am using the Rode video Mic pro on camera with the R6 MK II. When I can I will use the Zoom H4N. What audio advantages or benefits would I hear with using the NTG5 and the Tascam XLR mount? Most of my shoots are Multicam with 2-3 cameras. I match the Audio between the Rode Video Mic and the Zoom and use the Zoom audio in the FCPX audio track. Any suggestions or answers are appreciated.

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you are running the NTG5 into the H4N, I would assume the quality would be similar to running the NTG5 into the Tascam unit. The benefits of using the Tascam unit instead of an external recorder is that you don't need to sync the audio in post as the audio will already be incorporated into the video file.

      You're welcome. No, you can't record directly to a SSD via the USB port on the R6II.

    Hello, great presentation. I have the GH-6, and am very interested in YOUR VMOUNT BAT. idea to power the cam and the NINJA. At present, I have and INDIRO PRO PD-95S 14.8V, 6.6AH, 95WH. R/U familiar with this BAT, ? Is the SMALL RIG VB99, in the same category? . what's your opinion?

    Hi Josh, I'm trying to find a solution to secure USB C and HDMI port in R6 II. Shooting on a long usb c cable without port protection it is certain that the ports will be damaged quickly. I am looking for the smallest possible secure, Tilta Half Camera Cage TA-T32-FCC-B seems to be optimal but it is stil half cage just to protect ports... Have you come across something small and effective? Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Probably something like this that attaches to a cage: amzn.to/47eHIln

  • @kifley19

    Does the smallrig cage come with a cold shoe that I can attach right in front of the camera's hot shoe? I want to connect my speedlight right in front of the canon hot shoe but on the smallrig. I will use the side cold shoe mount for my microphone.

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  ปีที่แล้ว

      The cage doesn't come with an extra cold shoe but they are pretty expensive and can be mounted in a lot of spots: amzn.to/3IoQnGd

    What micro hdmi cable would you suggest in order to record 6k raw? Thanks!

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have a recommendation at the moment. The external 6K raw feature isn't available yet as there is no updated firmware for the Atomos Ninja V and V+ to support it.

      Yes, you can slide the V mount holder backwards to rotate the screen out and then slide the V mount back towards the camera.

    My R6 Mark II overheats when shooting in 60fps 4K.
    Do you think the overheating is mitigated when powered by the vmount?

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think it will help when using USB-C PD. It might help a little bit when using a dummy battery, but I'm not sure it would be significant. I haven't done the tests on it though.
