The most played music from my collection is anything by John Lennon and everything by The Beatles. My favorite John album is Mind Games. I need to go back and listen to the stripped down version of Double Fantasy. (Thanks for the reminder and encouragement, Larry). I do enjoy some of Yoko’s music, especially from Double Fantasy. I had the honor of interviewing her twice by phone, for my newspaper when she was touring John’s art around the country. She was very kind and answered all of my questions. So, yes, it was an honor and a highlight among the thousands of interviews I’ve done. Yoko has done an incredible job of carrying the torch for more than 40 years.
I think it's a very underrated album. I put "Double Fantasy" near the top of John's albums. And the "Stripped Down" mix makes my reasoning even more clear. Some of these mixes sound like Beatles songs. The "Double Fantasy"/ "Milk And Honey" box set will be a real treat, when it happens. I'm looking much more forward to that box set, than "Mind Games". And "Walls And Bridges". I put that one and "Double Fantasy" at #3 and #4 of John's albums.
Double Fantasy Stripped Down is easily one of my favourite re-releases of any post Beatles solo album. The dance between John and Yoko is fun, moving, and so beautiful. 10/10 album.
Hello Sir hope you’re doing good I love the Double Fantasy Stripped down album and I’m glad to know that you gave it a listen I love the way that John’s vocal sound, and I also like to hear the chatter because you can tell that he was very happy with Yoko and with the other people that were in the studio I am also very happy to know that by listening to this album, you finally realize that John’s vocals were always awesome and not only when he was with The Beatles I hope that you do listen to all of John‘s albums again, because they are all masterpieces As I’ve always said, I consider John Lennon to be the best singer and songwriter of all times Thank you very much for making this video God bless you and I will catch you on the next one
I had forgotten that the Stipped Down is almost 14 years old and now out of print as I went looking for it and a good price. I skipped over this release because a review I read, that reviewer didn't like the intimacy of the new disc. So did Yoko get intimate with your mind with her remix of this album last night?
I have always liked Double Fantasy. The stripped down version is interesting but I still prefer the original. I wonder how Yoko is doing these days. There used to be a John Lennon museum here in Japan. I wanted to go there and a few years back I had the chance, as I was in the area, but it had closed. It was in Saitama which is just north of Tokyo and I live a few hours further north so it was hard to find the time to visit it.
Thanks Larry for reminding me about Double Fantasy stripped down maybe 🤔 underdubbed ? In 1980 I bought Double Fantasy when it came out and really loved the whole album . Including Yokos songs . John wanted to include his wife in the making of music so we should respect that . I actually didn’t know that the CD package included the original album 💿 so it’s worth picking it up . I have Double Fantasy on vinyl i bought right away so it’s probably a 1st pressing. I’ll now look for the Stripped down and pick it up . I also have enjoyed Band on the Run underdubbed lately .
We’ve seen John and Yoko “stripped down” long time ago. Don’t need it again. John’s songs on Double Fantasy are better than Yoko’s imo , but Yoko’s are the best I’ve heard by her.
Sorry Larry I know you love Yoko Ono but I'm not a fan of her so to me Double Fantasy, the original and stripped down versions John Lennon material is fine but to me Yoko Ono's material isn't,sorry Larry but to me she can't sing, when I listen to John Lennon I want to hear John Lennon and John Lennon alone. Bob
When I saw the title of this video, I was hoping 'stripped down' meant that the Yoko songs were removed. It's been decades since I listened to this album - my brother bought it as soon as it was released. Of course, the tragedy of John's murder made it all the more significant. I seem to recall there was a Yoko song called Kiss Kiss Kiss when porn noises in it. I notice Larry doesn't mention that one.

I don't know if you know this, but Sparks did a remix of Yoko's Give Me Something that sounds pretty cool. It's on TH-cam.
Yes. I mention it in the recent Yoko video I did on my Canadian Studmuffin channel. th-cam.com/video/qm4c81HiZtE/w-d-xo.html

I need to buy this. Thank you for highlighting how good it is.
Definitely going to give that technical ecstasy album a try now
Thanks. Please leave your comment on our Sabbath video if you can. th-cam.com/video/ic2z3J0QS7Q/w-d-xo.html
I’m going to have to give that a spin again. Thanks for the great review.
Lennon for what reason i dont know is my favorite singer/ song writer period. And greatest artist of any medium of all time i.m.o.

The stripped down version is great! My favorite songs are I’m Losing you and Beautiful Boys
Beautiful. And on the money about Yoko.
Sadly, it seems that comments are turned off for all Yoko's songs (but not John's) for songs from that album.
John was ok. Jury still out on Yoko. All the best. Dave✅✅
This was my very first album! My sister had it on cassette…and I stole it from her!!
We’ve seen John and Yoko “stripped down” long time ago. Don’t need it again.
John’s songs on Double Fantasy are better than Yoko’s imo , but Yoko’s are the best I’ve heard by her.
Yoko's songs are fine and liven the album up a bit imo.
I like Double Fantasy but always thought it was too slick, wish he had worked more with members of Cheap Trick instead of session musicians.
The stripped down version is not slick.
Agreed, meant the original album, love the stripped down version.
I like the stripped down mix but the cover is ugly and on spotify they use the stripped down cover mostly for some reason and it hurts a bit haha
That CD is a little sketchy

I love the song. I didn't mention a couple of other songs either.
Just take John's songs off DF and M&H and burn them to one CD.
bla bla bla
Thanks. Have a great day!
I love that album but I know what you mean. You can’t listen to it without getting a lump in your throat or more than that. 🥲
