I should say that this version is disappointing. This is a very lyrical aria, extremely lyric (“soul of my soul, heart of my heart”), but there is a disagreement between the softness and sweetness of the voice and the intention of the string instruments, whose obscure and haunting tone looks like the soundtrack of a suspense movie. The piano version is much better by far.
OMG there always has to be one armchair critic..You should take the time to read the other comments or better still look up Joyce di Donati giving a master class at Juillard with Jakub and listen to what her comments were....but then you'd probably say she doesnt know what shes talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
