It’s amazing how once you really start diving into Waylons music and watch his live performances, you realize this guy was head n shoulders better than everyone else. And I love all the great legends, but for me, Waylon is easily the greatest. The charisma/stage presence, guitar picking, the voice. Wow.
Man i love Waylon! Everyday I get off work crack a cold beer and turn on Waylon radio! Great way to unwind a hard day or a bad dont matter Waylon will make it better!
I love Waylon so much I had the OR staff play his music while I’m being prepped for both my hip replacement surgeries. Then my orthopedic surgeon made the remark “This makes me want a beer” I was suddenly rethinking my decision.
Growing up in Phoenix, and him living here. ,he would just show up at rodeo dances ,sit in and play for free.Saw him about 10 times and his live stuff is off the charts.A true musician
Waylon Jennings was the first man who made me realize why girls like boys & vice versa. I was barely a teen when I developed a crush on him from seeing him on TV & listening to his music. From that point on, I always seem to like the guys that were a bit rough around the edges. He was an amazing talent, plus a very attractive man with a ton of charisma. Jesse Colter was a lucky lady.
This song reminds me of a pretty blonde blue-eyed girl on a Greyhound bus . I was running from the law and she was on her way to visit her old man in prison , I was high on cocaine and crazy as hell got off at the next stop and went and slept in the woods
Totally, I agree, the best version, and no one ever gonna do a better one! Notice not a lot of covers of Waylon’s hit songs? .... cuz no one gonna do it better ....
Wow!!! This is absolutely amazing. Classic Country is gritty and real. These boys weren't pretty and fancy. They were real country boys with insane talent. Thank you Mr. Jennings. I feel blessed that my Daddy introduced me to real country when I was a little boy in the 70s. Thank you Daddy. RIP
There will never be another Waylon that’s for damn sure but happy guys like Cody jinks and whitey Morgan are around to help carry the torch of great country music
Waylon & his music are associated with some of the best memories of my childhood. He was my dad's favorite, and largely the reason for me becoming a musician. When I was a kid, I met him & the drummer backstage in SC and they gave me a set of "Hands Hickory" drumsticks!
There was. It was called "Crazy Heart" lol. Kind of but, yeah. I doubt Hollywood will ever do one that will give it justice. The fans know the truth. The rest is just conjecture.

I was there too Waylon was 1 of the 1st country singer I would really listen to guess I was about 13 in '75 when I started listening to country always a fan of Waylon
Really he was super underrated. He was actually a hell of a lead player. Was also one of the first country players to use any effects other than the fender spring reverb on the amp. He wasn't using anything crazy, just a phase 90 and a chorus but it gave him a tone that was different then the normal super clean Nashville sound of that era.
@Casey Jones when I got the pop up saying that you didn't see it here I was going to say it was at the time he may have been on a three or four day run. then I just read the rest. His oldest son Terry said the only reason he watched the Duke's of Hazzard was to listen to his Dad dido the balladeer and he could tell by how gruff his voice was how long he had been awake
This might sound strange, but he has the most masculine voice in any genre, even more than Johnny Cash. I used to watch the Dukes of Hazzard, just to hear Waylon's narrative.
Its so sad that future outlaws will grow up without being able to see waylon live , i was fortunite enough to see him live 2 times once front row in wendover, waymore was beyond words great a legend has past R.I.P HOSS !!!

I just want to say that, that 30 seconds ,from 1:15 to 1:45 is out of sight! I could listen to 20 minutes of it. I really miss this guy and can imagine him at 85 and still kicking ass.
When he messed up rambling, laughed at himself, then was quick enough to recover in a song that rips as fast as Ramblin Man does, it just shows how sure of himself he was on stage at that point in his lifw

Amen, Darlene. Now country music is made up of girly-looking guys who use more hair products than a 16 yr old girl. Pitiful!
👍
Lol i couldn't agree more
He was actually the one who got the outlaw country thing started and used to play with Buddy Holly in his Early years
Love this man. He was the greatest country singer. There will never be another one like him. No one can fit his shoes.

I never realized how good Waylon was on guitar... Whew! He was awesome! He could really make that Telly squawk!
He had a style of guitar playing like no other 👍
That driving baseline was his signature. Killer!
This was the best version of his song... I mean, All his versions ruled, but this one just spun the lid off the jar!
