Hi, people of Reddit! I am Whitney (18F) and my bully parents are finally getting justice for what they did and I am happy about it.
To give you a little back story, let me tell you about my mom, Eleanor (48F), and dad, Max (51M). My parents are kind of bullies, and they have always favored my golden child sister, Elsa (21F). I’ve spent most of my life feeling like a second-class citizen in my own home. I’m not going to lie-it’s been really tough, and I’ve reached a point where I need to vent.
The OP's mother sure recovered fast. Cancels one birthday party because she is "not feeling well" then immediately plans another.
Apparently, grandpa owned the house. I'd have sold it and then told everyone they have one week to move, or they and their belongings would be out on the street.

What she did might not have been legal. When the sheriff's department supervises an eviction they give the person being evicted about an hour to pack up everything they can that they own and figure out where to put it (storage unit maybe?) and they give them time to get dressed. I think the law requires that much. You could have sued or pressed charges I think.
It is really telling that heavily armed police officers show more compassion for strangers they dont' even know who are getting evicted than your mother showed you on your milestone birthday.
I am curious if you 2 had a fight or argument right before that happened or if she just did it because you were 18 now? Any chance she will want to "make amends" if you give her grand children?

Wow! Those parents get the gold medal for being the biggest AHs! They just piled on the nasty. OP deserves better and I hope that she goes on to do great and lives her best life with Grandpa and her best friend as her best buds. The one's that will live in regret will be the parents and big sis when they try to pull OP back in because they need her, and she is going to be too busy living well, with people who truly love her by her side. The sister is also kind of a victim. They groomed her to be the horrible person she became. They never loved her either. At some point she will get older and wiser and figure that out.

Yes but I really wanted to see her family suffer more. I cannot even figure out why the family planned the party with her then stood her up? Why not just say to her "We know it is your birthday but we do not love you and only want to celebrate your sister's birthday. Just enjoy the party we will plan for her". Is that really so difficult?

@@tanithschneider3051 I know but even if you WIN the lawsuit they might try to sue anyway and its a huge hassle getting sued even if you win. Especially when you are trying to get adult life started. Might not be worth the stress.

I posted above that they did not love the "favored" sister either and at some point she will realize that. They also do not love each other. An ENTIRE FAMILY is broken if even one person in the family is abused. It is like the metaphor of a chain being as strong as its weakest link.

We tried our best to treat our kids equally. Spend close to the same amount on all the kids and spouses, a little less on grandchildren because we buy for them all year long. It really isn’t that hard. I just don’t get parents who treat one child so well and the other so badly.

@@MetalSStar196 I am so aware of the harm of favoritism and these TH-cam stories have reminded me of that even more that I go out of my way to AVOID IT. If I like one child a little more than the other I will, if I realize I am favoring the child I like better I will make sure to balance things out by doing something special for the other child. I make a conscious effort to avoid it.
And as I keep saying, when favoritism gets this extreme the favored child is not loved either.
I'll lay even odds that the OP's mother *WASN'T* sick.

I just listened to another Reddit post. In which the OP was sadly orphaned at a very young age.
His only living relative an aunt refused to adopt him. Years later when he "found" her as teenager. She told him that he wasn't family und to never contact her again.
Then years later when she learned that he was successful enough to have bought himself a house. The same aunt reached out to him demanding that he give his house to his worthless, dropout of a cousin, because "family" helps family.
When he refused, she threatened to forge a deed und steal it from him.
Why was the friends not at the party.
So her family didn't come then where were her friends that she claimed she invited in one of her friends call her to ask if the party was really canceled

I'm hoping that there's an update in the future where we find out that OP is doing extremely well, and the parents who threw her away "suddenly realize the error of their ways", also known as "We need money". If I'd had family do that to me, I would get rid of them permanently. Even if they were truly contrite, I'd have to point out that there was absolutely no way that I could trust that, and that given the past, they were playing the long game hoping to eventually convince me to fund whatever they wanted money for.
i didn't like how that ended. it was as if no endings.

I hope op reads this. You'll be better off cutting off your family. Someone has experienced much more than this. You'll never get acknowledgment for any achievement you ever do you will never be able to compare it to your siblings. You set yourself on fire to keep them warm. This is a life lesson I had to learn that's why I no longer in contact with my family. An I'll give you a perfect example of golden child so I had three sisters golden children. My mother bought all three my sister's a home. I asked for some help with mine she told me no and month later I found out she bought her sister a house. An this is one prime example of things they've done. I was seen nothing more than a work mule for there use. An not once I was told I was loved by my parents. I literally was forced to live in the living room on the couch I was too small for me.
Update 1, the dishes were only tip of the iceberg. Egg donor couldn't stand that op was airing out how she truly felt and was being called out on how she's treated op. And given how furious she was at for telling grandpa the truth about they cancelled op's birthday behind op's back, I'm not surprised that she kicked op out after getting called out. Nor that she blew up on op because of her frustration that she's no longer getting everything from her dad after what she did and it's typical that she blames op. She just also met a boiling point of her own, when she kicked op out.
Update 2, it's also op's family and especially egg donor's, fault to not think that op wouldn't tell Grandpa about them kicking her out over something so stupid and the argument. Their just going to paying the consequences of their actions when they see grandpa helping op.
Update 3, I'm actually not surprised that they tried to be so petty in getting rid of most of op's stuff. To them it's also revenge for calling them out, telling grandpa the truth and the fact their not inheriting everything. But they don't realize that they just made everything so much worse on themselves by doing that. People like them just like to dig their hole deeper. Definitely not surprised that they laughed at op when she confronted them like what they did was justified and somehow hilarious.
Sue their butts. They won't be laughing then. Then grandpa NEEDS to cut them off entirely and they really wouldn't be laughing. In other words this is far from over.

For the ten thousandth time I will say it. They did NOT love the OP's sister. Their actions have fragmented the family, caused toxicity that has harmed the ENTIRE FAMILY, and has fomented resentment and jealousy that has prevented the OP from having a loving and healthy relationship with her sister. Ultimately this will harm the OP's sister THE MOST.
If the parents in this story had truly loved the OP's sister they would have been fair and kind to the OP. What is more, the marriage is a sham and the 2 parents do not even love EACH OTHER.
