John Sebastian was such a likeable guy soft spoken letting others express themselves but when he filled in the void it was always surprisingly substantive.
I can't imagine what it must have been like to have been in and around the Village from '62 to maybe '70. John could have gone on and on with his list of names.
oh! This is wonderful! Funny what John S. is saying about Lightnin' Hopkins (Shaggy Dog love that song) and his rhymin' heh. Love the both of these musicians- much respect. I feel old- recognize everyone John mentioned especially Fred Neil who did wonderful music and had a terrific voice and died too young. They have spent many of their years giving to the younger musicians and our world. Great interview, and the first I've seen these two together.
I never realized how cool Jesse Colin Young was, is, will become, he used to represent this high esteemed position of troubadour author, but now, decades later, I am captivated by the nonchalant charm and seductive confidence he holds and how i would have automatically connected with his playful hand dominance gestures, so subtle but yet unpacking my resistance, and I keep coming back to that cheap section of skycage, and I now know, I'm a lot of things, but I'm not part Italian .or Cherokee for that matter.....
There was something really sexy about John. Unpretentious, understated, big pair of glasses, nice laid back approachable demeanor. Nice jawline and physique. . Pity it's not possible to see him from behind in those white 80s chinos (haha!). He just oozes a type of sexiness
Not an interview. More of a discussion...... and a good one! I always wonder what these "not totally booked" artist types do on a daily basis. There must be an awful lot of hanging around the house, trying to be productive while daily concerns just eat the time up. When a guy like Jesse Colin Young quits playing for three years, like he said, what the heck does he do all day?
So painful I can't remember...its a good feeling talking about spinal taps and freverious fruit and secret abilities along with bricks and a time where bands were things.
Noticed that too. Well, John has been successful and can probably live well off the royalties. Jesse - not so much. The Spoonful were enormously successful even if it didn't last long. And the hit songs are still today played hundreds of times every day all over the world.
But the Youngbloods are legendary with a half dozen of some of the best songs ever writen ,the Youngbloods are better more accomplished band musically and should have the recognition they deserve.
John is such a great guy who makes you feel good no matter if he is talking or singing
2 all time greats, John Sebastian and Jesse Colin Young. I' ve liked all their music and singing from the '60's to the present.

2 noo yawk kids having a great conversation and being one myself and listening to them both for years had a lot of laughs...
I love John Sebastian's enthusiasm to storytelling.

It was the best time in my life. Going to the Village was an adventure. The greatest thing to do.

saw the youngbloods in concert in 1969.
I can listen to John talk all day long, what a phenomenal musician. Can someone explain the Banana thing?
Banana was the name of one of the musicians in the Youngbloods.
@@thirdbase6870 Thank you.

that lost harmonica holder could've brought him a fast load of money-not that he needs it!
Funny how they know each other but there is no chemistry there, mostly Jesse being uncomfortable.

@@lonedrone Yes but the Youngbloods version of "Let's Get Together' is also world famous. Some royalties from that even though he didn't write it.
