Gotta love how the game is ultra realistic but lets you go FTL without a canopy. Imagine a speck of dust or something bigger, like a rock hitting you...
Depends on the "implementation" of FTL. For example, in Star Trek, it's achieved by creating a miniature black hole at a fixed distance in front of the ship, so it would destroy anything small like that in the way. Besides, I doubt the glass would stop a rock when traveling at FTL anyway, so there's clearly something else at work.
in E:D, the FSD is described as something closer to an Alcubierre drive, which means a "bubble" of distorted spacetime is formed around the object. Since space doesn't have a "speed limit" for distortion, if you could even call it that, it allows the sobject to go FTL without moving at all. the bubble should also help redirect debris and other small objects away from the ship.
Supercruise in Elite is the exact same thing as Warp in Star Trek. It contracts space in front and expands it behind, whilst the ship is in its own bubble. I imagine a navigational deflector of some sort will also be present.
so you can walk on a planet for hours, but if cockpit is breached - you can only live for as long as life support system allows? any commander would stack few tanks of oxygen and they would wait only few kgs.
@@jimskywaker4345 yep, and humanity totally forgot about ship airlocks. So large ship cannot dock to station that has no large landing zone. Dude astronauts are going into space in rockets while wearing space suits. of course you can pilot naked if you like suffocating.
@Koishukaze oh ok, because i tried the game on the quest 2 yesterday and I felt like the quality was really pixilated and blurry even at "VR Ultra" graphics. Do you have any suggestions for me to get the game looking better?
Pros: the cockpit is mostly made of glass
Cons: the cockpit is mostly made of glass

think its based on the Alcubierre drive in ED
@@Daktyl198 FTL Tech in most games and shows warps space around you even in Star Trek,Nothing is going to hit your ship going the speed of light

I can see how your head is shaking because of the horror it has witnissed.
A trick if your canopy is destroyed, activate night vision
yup, im aware

I assume you are in a flight suit not a space suit

when you are in cockpit you don't have the back pack , you get the oxygen directly from respirator of the seat connected in the back of the suit
you also may have small version of atmospheric containment field generators installed.
Try turning on night vision so you can still see where you're going
Hahaha! This video is a year old :-) My reaction is a little late
ye, i already knew about that
Good video.
what's that thing on the left side when you plot your jump
why are you always looking down may i ask?
Some reason the pc end is just like that, it looks different in the headset
