Nice video but I now have doubts that rig would pay itself off within 1.5 years, this mining slide is showing no signs of slowing, 2018 looks likely to join 2013 and 2014 as very little profit years. Mining has become too mainstream with too many people piling in and the result becomes a slump.

Vosk - since this is a tutorial for beginners you should have pointed out that you need to connect the power switch or it won't turn on. You had it hanging down right in front too. Another great Vosk Video. I don't know if it's my new monitor or if you got better gear but the overall video quality was really good. Never underestimate the small (aka available and "affordable") video cards. My first and most solid rig is a 6x 1060. Simple to build, easy on the power and crunches blocks 24/7 with no fuss. You don't make any money tinkering with big expensive rigs that don't run.

At current prices and .09KW/h this rig will profit about $600/year. The cost of GPU's and the noise created by ASIC make mining prohibitive. You can make as much just buying the coins and holding them for the same period of time.

  • @TrickyMickTrucking

I really wish I had gotten into cryptomining earlier, just seeing this in 22 makes you really sit and wonder. Lol. At least I got started in 21. I think? It's been a crazy ride with r9 390s making my house a sauna, and selling everything down to just a few cards now. But I'm at the same profit I was last year, but with barely any heat and significantly less wattage. It costs an insane amount of money to cool down a room with r9 390s on top of the inefficient 180-200w for 30mhs.

Beginner? I started with two GPUs for mining despite I've been building systems for a long time. :) Well, I did that just to minimize risk and just to see if it's all worth it. It is quite amazing that I have these powerful video cards where it was just a dream for me to get myself just one. I meant, without mining, I can't justify buying a nice card as I will rarely use it play games.

    • @zodiacfml
      @zodiacfml 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm jealous. Due to shortage, I haven't purchased a card for more than 2 weeks. The last one I've had are MSI armors, one rx 570 and a 580. I didn't know they have weak mechanical specs as they don't include backplates and a thick-large heatsink compared to less known brands. They overclock nicely though and the fan is a great-expensive design.

so whattomine usually rates nicehash equihash as most profitable or at least consistantly within the top 5 for nvidia gpu's. What's your opinion on just mining with that, and converting all BTC payments over to whichever coin you think will be most profitable in the future? I've been on nicehash for a month now and just converting all BTC over to LTC and it's paid off 1/6 1080ti's already.

I think platnium/titanium/gold/bronze just has to do with efficiency, not necessarily reliability, right?
Reliability comes from who the power supply manufacturer was, dont want to get some dollar store brand.
Release date probably has a tad bit say in reliability as well, 7yr old PSU vs newer technology 1 year old PSU. Although i bet the tech for PSUs stay pretty much the same, unlike CPU architecture etc.

I recently switched from Nicehash to Awesome Miner/Ahash pool w ccminer. My rig is a Asrock Pro BTC, cheap 1151 Celeron, 16G Memory, 6 Strix 1080ti's, version 8 risers, 2 1600w EVGA power supplies. I'm loosing about 20% hash rate on the risers. When I slot a card on another computer by itself on the 16 PCIE slot it's way better. Do you have any experience with this issue, ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks
    Matt

RX GPUs are pretty decent at Equihash, my RX580's can do 350Sols but of course use more power than 1060's

Dylan don't be ignorant. GPUs are used to mine Eth, XMR, ZEC etc. Bitcoin can only be mined with ASICs nowadays. But you probably have no clue of what I am saying. You just need one card, so buy it and let us endure these high costs. Or you can buy a PS4 and find peace for about 4-5 other years. If you buy a GPU for your PC, you're going to end up changing it in a year or two. Well, lucky for us, you will put your used GPU on ebay, and we will buy a nearly new GPU at less than half the price :)

says the guy replying to a comment from a month ago. but srsly tho, i know you people think cryptocurrency is great because its a decentralized currency but its really not all that great. You know its becoming a problem when websites and or viruses try to mine bitcoin (MONERO) with your computer secretly.

I noticed that buying new cards is just expensive and the difficulty is growing fast.
What im doing is buying used cards (rx 570 or 480) for around 250 euro.
The risk form an ROI of 8 months I think is to high.
