    What did your First GPU Mining Rig Look Like for Parts? Any Shoe Racks? Milk Crate? or Hanging GPU Setups? If you haven't built your first GPU Mining Rig yet, what are your plans?

    • @paladdin1500

      First official rig was a messy custom aluminum frame with wrong measurements 😂. Shoe rack, hanging gpus but no milk crate for me :)) I’m lactose intolerant 😂

      I have the same style frame which came from Jersey USA to me here in the UK England, have it sat in a small grow tent with 140mm fan as an intake through a multi mesh filter, have 3 120mm fans cooling the 3 cards I have on the frame with a high powered 120mm fan pushing the hot air to the vent where two extractors are pulling the air out. Cards are 2060 12Gb and will add a forth to finish this rig as have a 1660 in the case above also mining plus allows me to still watching video's at not much of a loss in hash rate.

      All of the above (shoe rack, milk crate and wire rack w/ hangers). I'm all about the shoestring budget, at the very least, until I breakeven. "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid."

    I have build this rig. Using the same GPU, a GIGABYTE B550 DS3H Super mobo, 16GB memory, AMD Ryzen 5 4500 CPU, 750W BQ Bronze power supply. Works like a charm. And it is very very silent. I can hardly hear the fans.

    Hi, I have watched the video, and I guess I have missed few parts:
    1. Didn't see where you installed the switch on the side - and what its for? I assume just the power switch of the motherboard.
    2. You have throw away the cable for the GPU, but if I want to use it to connect to external 12V power - I guess its will be OK? (e.g. from solar panel)
    3. I have missed what was loaded in the USB, what SW? and how did you load the mining SW - can you please add more info on that?
    4. Thanks in advance

    I don't have any GPU miners YET but it is my goal I think this is a great video series. Curious as far as the electric how much does it increase with each GPU added to the setup? Does it end up being more efficient/gpu as you fill out the rack?

    • @TheHobbyistMiner

      Well now that we have the rig setup. The intial investment is done. So now we are just purchasing GPUS as we find deals. My electricity cost will continue to grow as I add more. But so will my Revenue.

    • @sazzy94
      @sazzy94 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i would go with the second option because the auto fan speed will set the needed fan speed so that the mining rig doesn't consume too much power or heat too much, it makes a good balance between the power consumption and the temperature

    Why waste your time and money with the riser when you could run it straight off the motherboard? and also still add a further 2 GPUs later.
    My first intro into mining was an ASUS ROG STRIC Gaming B550 with a single Tuf Gaming 1660Ti which then quickly turned into 2x 1660Tis and then a 3rd 1660Ti on Nicehash 88.56Mh/s @ 183W.
    Unfortunately the cost was nowhere near $500 but it is what it is, welcome to Australia.
    I'm now 8 GPUs (all ASUS Top Edition Tuf Gaming 1660 Ti) in and about to try and figure out the HiveOS install although dreading it because I am sure it's not as easy as what everyone says.

    Hi Hobbyist miner, another great video. I have a question Hobbyist miner. The 3070ti is one of my favorite cards, but when I'm looking at dual mining hashrates, I can see that 6700xts are doing great for example mining eth+ton, 6700xt hashrates are (eth: 46, ton: 2.2) consuming 128w, compare to the 3070ti that hashes around (eth:56, ton: 1.3) at 230w. seems 6700xt is doing great and is more efficient and with that being said I could buy 3070ti for $1050 and 6700xt for about $850.
    Which one should I go?

    • @TheHobbyistMiner
      @TheHobbyistMiner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would not make decisions based off Dual Mining Results. Dual Mining is more a bubble. Things will pivot once ETH goes POS as LHR won't matter.

    FWIW I run my 1660Ti at 915 Core, 1100/2200 Mem for 30.6 MH/s at 60W in the software. I prefer the 0.51 MH/J efficiency rather than getting the one additional megahash. Every card is different (silicon lottery, mem manufacturer) but give it a try and reply below if it works for you. That's with NH QuickMiner (latest revision) using the latest Nvidia Game Ready drivers available...it's my kid's gaming PC when he's not earning Bitcoin.

    • @TheRadiastral
      @TheRadiastral 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have micron memory, try set 780 MHz core. You'll see the same (or better) hashrate, but slightly less watts. Mine are pulling 31.5 mh at 780 core and 2200 mem.

    • @magiclucky5152
      @magiclucky5152 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheRadiastral Thanks for the reply. I've got Samsung memory. I tried 780 Mhz core, anyway, but it didn't seem to change my power or hashrate much at all. Your settings get 30.4 MH @ 61W (0.497 MH/J). Almost within margin of error.

    @The Hobbyist Miner, Thank you for this video! As others stated you explain and show things as easy as possible which I am grateful for. This is my first time getting into mining so I have a few questions if you don't mind.
    1. Can I use a MacBook? If not any recommendations?
    2. Can I mine Bitcoin with this type of rig you built?
    3. I dont understand the setting you went through. Can you go over what each setting does? Pro and cons for maximum profitability.
    4. Can I manage my rig remotely or does the rig / laptop always need to be on 24/7. I know the rig needs to be on 24/7 but Im curious on the computer / laptop side of things.
    5. If a power outage occurs, do I need to manually restart my rig or does it come back on line automatically?
    Thank you for your time and Im sorry for the newbie questions. MINERS, please feel free to answer my questions as it will help me understand better.

      $1.14 per day off that graphics card 21:33 🫤
      Seems like the graphics card is what determines how much can you make per day. I’d like to make $28 per day

    21:50 thanks for the calculations. Thats interesting. Also been crunching some numbers today >have a look at this.
    I wanted to see how many Gpu’s I could get for the price of one Bitmain Antminer E9 (3Gh) and what their performance would be.
    MSI GTX 1160 ti cost £340, uses 68w, hash rate is 31.64mh, Ethash = monthly profit £27
    The RTX 3060 costs £500, uses 170w, hash rate is 50mh overclocked, Ethash = monthly profit £37
    Bitmain Antminer E9 (3Gh), Costs £43000, uses 2556W, hash rate 3ghs (3000mh) Ethash = £2546month
    So … for the same money as an Bitmain Antminer E9 (3Gh) you could run
    43000/340 x126 (hundred and twenty six) Msi Gtx 1160 ti’s, costing £42840 = £3402 monthly profit (inc power cost)
    43000/500 x86 (eighty six) RTX 3060’s, costing £43000 = £3182 monthly profit (inc power cost)
    As opposed to Bitmain Antminer E9 (3Gh) costs £43000 = monthly profit £2546month
    You could get £856 more ~ but where would you put x126 GPU’s lol
