  • The beginning of building the transmission up to bulletproof status begins here. SuperShafty.com provided his Ultimate Wraith motor plate and a set of steel gears for the transmission.

Usually it requires just a little bit of clearancing on the cover. A couple minutes with the Dremel is all that's required.
I will run my cover once the transmission is done. There are still a lot of steps until this trans is finished.

Cool and I finally decided that I'm saving up for a Futaba BLS157HV and not going with any other servo beforehand, I'll just have to endure my 224 oz-inch cheapo servo for now :D

Thanks for the great build. I am either wanting to put a 2 speed trans or one with a dig unit. Which would you recommend. I primarily drive muddy trails with a lot of big wet rocks. Thanks

What is the part number for theWraith motor plate and a set of steel gears for the transmission. Did you get the bearing kit too?

*Chrome-Moly Steel??* Dang!!! You ARE going for bulletproof!
So..... what about Driveshafts? Do you just drill the MIP inputs to 6mm, or look for new shafts?

I used to drill to 6mm, but now that I can get quality heat treated chromoly 5mm shafts I don’t use the 6mm much any more. The 5mm and 6mm chromoly outputs we used to have available we’re not heat treated which made them not as strong.

I keep forgetting how OLD some of these videos are!! I'm glad there's a standard size upgrade for our Rigs.
Well, I'm kinda Old too!! I am in it purely for the fun. I haven't been competitive in over 20 years!! I do want strength and durability, at reasonably low cost.
Hey, thanks for actually answering my comments from these really old videos!

Do you plan on running the spur gear cover? If so do the MIPs clear? I have bought, following you advice, AX10 MIPs for my honcho and they are still in the package. I run a "Axial Wraith SuperTuff 48 Pitch 80 Tooth Plastic Spur Gear" (since i changed the stock motor to a 35t, might as well gear up a little). Do you think I could run the spur gear cover?

Question, why do you avoid Hot Racing products?

+rott1976 their tolerances are not great and cause too many issues. Their links are one of the biggest things to avoid. I like their trans gears, they perform really well!
