Modelling a Belt Buckle in Blender - Hard Ops and Boxcutter

- A bit of a fun project to make a belt buckle efficiently. Box cutter and Hard Ops really help with this, especially considering that this is entirely non-destructive in nature so you could change any element.

Nice! Thank you for sharing this. If I may ask, do you do UV unwrapping? I've binge-watched almost halfway through all of your uploaded vids and haven't found any of it.
Thanks so much 😁. And doubly so for taking the time to watch so many of the videos. I don't as I design for 3D printing, so I have no need to unwrap or add textures. At best I put some basic textures on for a simple render.
Useful as always, hadn't even tried the addition with boxcutter yet!
I find it really helpful in instances like these when you want to add things in quickly and in a specific location. Its especially useful with the Ngon function.
Definitely buying both addons, thank you!
Great that you're finding them something that would help you, that's the whole point of these videos. If you want more videos on them I have some on specific playlists to make them easier to find too. 😁👍🏻
Nice. I was hoping a bit that you were going to make an actual functional belt buckle, but since you do resin instead of FDM I shouldn't have been expecting that. :-)
😅 Yeah. That would be fun though!
is this a functional belt buckle? the two parts clip and clasp can be separated? great vid (whoops, just saw this similar comment!!) posting anyway lol
Haha. As you have probably seen now this isn't two part but more how to create a detail for a model/sculpt. Thanks for watching and commenting all the same 😁
I probably need to buy mesh machine, boxcutter and hard ops. How would.you rank them in ordwr of usefulless so i know which i might want to get first?
By the Boxcutter/HardOps bundle first (its at a discount that way). They have more tools and I would say I use them in pretty much every project I do.
Then I would get Mesh Machine. Amazing, VERY helpful and I use it in say 70-80% of projects but not as essential.
Very helpful video for explaining these add-ons! I understand them a lot better now.
That's always great to hear. Thanks 👌🏼😁
when you apply alt x the mirror is on the cutter how for me the mirror on the object not the cutter how can I replace
The mirror will be on whatever object is the active object. So if you have shift clicked a second object it will be on that.
awesome video!!! thank you for this. i'm learning how to use blender to make mods for an mmo i'm playing. could i use this method and then make a low poly version of a buckle? bearing in mind i can't have ngons
It's always possible to triangulate a mesh afterwards (in fact Blender has a modifier for that) so yes for sure. I'd probably make the low poly one just without the bevels or set the bevels to 1, it shouldn't be too hard.
thank you @@ArtisansofVaul 🥺
So cool!
Cheers 😁
