    I looks pretty much like the DX6 as far as programming. My DX6 is on its last legs, I plan on going to the NX model very soon. I sent my DX6 in for service 2 years ago, but it has developed issues beyond my wanting to send it back in. Like our first computer, it has reached the end of its life.

      Yes, Scott, the NX series is excellent. Essentially it gives you everything that you have in the DX, with very similar ways of doing it, but then it has several additional functions, including a seventh channel. Top marks for ease of use and compatibility with Spektrum products. Bottom marks for price and compatibility with other manufacturers products. And, I might mention, that after a few months regular use, I had to have mine fixed to replace the USB socket. That put it out of action for three months! Recently I have moved to Radiomaster, but it is much more complex, yet with fabulous capabilities, and a 16 channel transmitter for less money than a NX6. See my videos on that - and more of them are in the works. (However, most of the guys in our club are still using Spektrum products...)

      Hi Gary, glad it was a help. I'm an old school guy and I didn't get a lot of help from the manual that came with the radio, so I spent a lot of time researching, listening to others, then trying things out. My goal has been to make it an easier process for everyone else!

      Again, thank you so very much! I learn things from the guys at the field, from multiple TH-cam videos, then I try them out, see what works and what doesn't, get a bit creative, try out other things, then eventually I attempt try to share in a simple and straight forward way all of the important things that I think people need to know.

    1. I don’t leave the numbers in front of my model names. I sort my models by make and model which would cause the numbers to be out of order. Plus, the numbers take up characters that I can use for the model name.
    2. I always use switch A for retracts, B for dual rates, D for flaps, and H for throttle cut. Sometimes I use switch C to control gyro modes. So, I always know which switches do what.
    3. If your servos/control surfaces bind with 100% travel, you probably need to lengthen the control horns and/or shorten the servo arms. It’s not good to reduce the servo travel below 100%. Servos should rotate about 40 degrees either side of center in high rates.

    • @RCJim

      That makes good sense. Thank you for sharing your insights.

    Hi Jim Ray here i have an NX8 I program my panic/bind button to give me time remaining. So at any point in my flight i can press it and the kind lady will tell me how much time i have left on my timer. Go to audio event and select "SWITCH CHANGES" then scroll down to "ADD NEW SOUND EVENT" then on the next screen click the panic/bind button to choose it then go to position one and select it then the second one down is "TIME REMAINING" select that and exit. so now every time you click the panic button you have an accurate time remaining voice prompt so you don't need to look down

      Great idea, Ray. For me I have her telling me the time to go every minute. Helps me keep track of it before the warning beeps!

      Sorry, I jumped straight from the old non-programmable radios right up to the NX series. I'm not familiar with the DX radios.

    Awesome video! Really learned from watching. I have a question: My AC manual under Dual Rates and Control throws say to set them in mm. Example Aileron UP 16mm Down 16 mm. Elevator Up 14mm Down 14 mm. And so on for both High Rate and Low Rate. How does one set mm? Thanks

    • @RCJim
      @RCJim  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Chuck, the 16 mm is just the distance the rear edge of the control surface goes up and down. That's equivalent to about 5/8 inch.

    • @chuckgordon8179
      @chuckgordon8179 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RCJim I know that, but how do you set that in the transmitter to move only that much? Trial and error?

    • @RCJim
      @RCJim  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@chuckgordon8179 OK, with the plane receiver on go to Rates and Expo on the transmitter. Move the stick to the maximum and see how much the control surface moves. If it’s too much, reduce the rate. While you could hold the stick and just dial it down until it is at the correct position, that would only do it for moving the control in that direction. You would then need to do the same for pushing the stick in the opposite direction. Sometimes you need to change which hole the control rod is in to get it in the range where you can then do the finer adjustment with the transmitter.

    In 'Flap System' why not reverse the switch to 100% opposite

    Cool, gave me a start, obviously, I have to practice. A lot of what you said, was factually incorrect, or glossed over, e.g. switch difference between 2 & 3, while the switch is shown to be in position 1. There's 3 position switches, but screen shows 0,1,2. Many of the function are referred to other videos. All in all, very basic info, and as confusing as the manual.
