I love this video! It’s extremely disappointing how Ubi abandoned the idea of diagetically playing in the Animus: from the corridors, UI, and sound design. Don’t know why they can’t return to this…
You missed one detail about AC IV loading screen, Edward leaves footprints like walking on sand
I find it hilarious that Ubisoft Quebec are the ones who brought it back with Syndicate but took it away in Odyssey
Nice video! I'd say, due to animus tech being improved, the corridor screens in the newer games are less distorted and more real-like. Also, the soft-reboot games, within the animus corridor scenes, tend to focus more on the ancestor's emotional or mental state, since Valhalla. Valhalla's is foggy, dark, and of course endless. Mirage's is full of apparitions (from Basim's memories of Loki leaking in, but they disappear quickly as the animus sees that's not Basim's memory, or it could be those are Basim's targets/victims who he is trying to forget), blood (symbol of guilt) and vast, empty and tall sand hills which hide the sunlight. We know Basim didn't like killing, and sometimes when he assassinates, he says "It was necessary" trying to reassure himself. The new AC protagonist are mentally broken people in a whole new way due to the Isu.
Personally I think of the Valhalla loading segment as something sort of like a dreamscape, which feels kind of fitting given how often dreams and visions and sometimes illusions play a role in the storyline. And the same can also apply to Mirage with its sort of “mysterious in an ominous manner” aesthetic as an emphasis towards how for most of the game Basim is facing an internal conflict as much as one that’s external
I don't like the game much, but to me, the best corridor confessions were in Assassin's Creed 3. I remember the "Castles in the Sky" one with the target John Pitcan, as well as the one with William Johnson. All of them in that game had such great dialogue. The ones in 4 Black Flag and AC 1 were among the best ones too.
I hope Assassin's Creed Red, set in Feudal Japan brings back that quality dialogue for its corridor confession scenes, assuming it will have them at all.
On a side note, i truly hope that game doesn't disappoint. I have been watching the recent TV series Shogun (taking place in 1600 Japan) which is truly fantastic, and get me excited to see the franchise use this setting, especially since Red is going to be set in roughly the same time frame as the TV series does.
Mirage did disappoint me greatly, while I'm glad we had a stealth heavy AC game again, the story was such a nothing sandwich
@@adrianarias-hernandez7472do we really have to have every game these days have a grade a story or else it’s bad? I have no defense for the story but I love the game
In AC3 we can see how the animus synchronises Desmond to Haytam in the beginning. First it is a completely empty white nothing as Desmond talks witg Rebecca. From that it first turns to abstract animus shapes and then to resembling windows and houses more and more as the sync increases. It is by far my favourite interpretation of how the animus loads things. And when Desmond finally switches to Haytam, there is suddenly actual colored things but only around him. When he reaches the theatre, only then it finally loads fully.
In regard to your last comment on the originality of AC has science-fiction series simulating the past lives of characters through a computer and DNA samples, I believe it it simply testament to the fact that Ubisoft by deriving their series into an RPG one also derived its genre from Science-Fiction to Historic Fantasy, and that's full on consequences.
Great concept for a vid and loving the webcam n variations In the content, much love. I love the darker vibe of the Revelations it really fits the vibe of the modern day storyline of the game and the idea of like the animus breaking Desmond. Beautiful stuff
Playing Rogue right now !!!
U forgot the dark black screens in ac2 when desmond dreams about altair and maria😭😭😭
I just recently started watching your videos. You do good work keep it up man👍
Origins defos takes the cake in regards to Animus loading screens. But I wouldn't knock Mirage too much, as a recurring theme is that Basim is haunted by Djinns in his life. So the loading screen reflects that (and many of my muslim friends GENUINELY believe they're real). So I find that fascinating.
Mirage has zero story outside of the animus to the best of my knowledge, and considering Basim/Loki exists in the modern-day universe, I think you got the nail on the head with the fact that AC Mirage may in fact be a real life memory, than an Animus-read memory.
Half-way through Mirage, and loving it. Hence why I'm possibly defensive about it? o_O
There's animus fragments around the map and the intro heavily implies it's in the animus so it's safe to say it is taking place within the animus
you missed a detail about the one from AC II, if you desynchronize from going out of bounds, there is an alternitive loading screen which flashes red.
Just want to point out that Revelations also has Ezio reflected on the floor. Just a small detail.
Thanks!
I’m not gonna lie I like how the newer ones attempt to show some theme or imagery of the culture their representing through the game. I feel like the animus is in fact becoming a more stable product so those corridor parts are not some sort of view behind the simulations curtain. Mirage was a pretty good one but Valhalla was very bland, I don’t disagree with the direction though
Bro when are you going to upload next outfit ranking video
Not be long man there’s just a couple vids I wanna make first
It doesnt have a Identität crisis.
Its an anthology series and people got bored of things so ther changed things.
One reason was they just wantet to make rpgs and that neded changes.
Or zhat they wantet to have abossfights only in the simulation. BF Was Set up a Juno bossfight in simulation but well that got scraped. The issue with AC Was realy the writers could never Stick to stuff becaus the series cant end. By now making modern day its own separate thing i hope theyxmanage to atleast connect it better to the games again. Basims story is Set up super simple to be him finding his children. That explains why he would go into the simulation.
Or they will just not twll that story but hexe is Set up to somewhat Co tinue that story
